Dazen Guile is used to losing, be it from playing different games against his brother, or always losing to his father and his games.  So with that ingrained that you don't have to win to have fun, and to be in a good mood has allowed him to be fine in the DSFL and ISFL.  While with Dallas his first season, the Birddogs went 1-13, winning the 5th game of the season.  And so far in his ISFL Rookie season with the Colorado Yeti their record is 0-10.  For some people having a 1-23 record so far in your professional Football career would be rough, but again Dazen was born into this.  Having the methodology that each second to "Find something to Smile about" gives him that gentle reminder, win or lose, what you have to do.  So he just keeps on drafting his colors and helping everyone he can around him, no matter what the outcome of any game is when the 60 minutes are complete.

When the San Jose Sabercats lose, it's always a hard fought game. Something the team has learned, though, is to not fret on it too much, as of course we have a 16 game season. The San Jose Sabercats, when they lose, eat that loss for the day, and get right back to it, on the field and in the tape room the next day. They sit on that loss for the first night, then get right back out there and keep the grind going, because you can't let it eat you alive, because if you do, then you are consumed by losing. The San Jose Sabercats have done a lot to make sure that the losses do not consume them anymore, and have continued to push through, as a team to make sure that everyone is always grinding, always in the field, or the tape room, or wherever they need to be, to make sure that those issues do not happen again!

Kim Yeon-Seok has not yet experienced defeat in the DSFL, but when he does he will draw on his experiences playing college rugby back in South Korea. Some people go into themselves and go silent after a defeat, some people get very loud and aggressive (Yeon-Seok suspects that most of his new football teammates will do the latter) but he does not understand either of these reactions.

Kim knows that losses are an inevitable part of playing any game, and he shrugs them off, learns his lessons and resolves to do better the next time. In the meantime, to avoid himself being overwhelmed by sad and/or angry people, he likes to lighten the mood. Once half an hour has passed from the end of a game, he goes into all out joker mode, playing pranks on his teammates and doing silly voices, anything to lift morale again.

He would do it sooner, but coaches like to vent a bit, and joking gets him in trouble if he does it too soon.

In Yellowknife we have had our share of big losses.  In fact we usually sit right in the middle as a perfect 8-8 tasting as much defeat as victory.  Our biggest heart break loss of recent however was in the Ultimus when we lost by 8 points to the evil empire, AZ.  The key to bouncing back from that was keeping a positive attitude.  At the end of the day this is just a game and being able to take the losses is such an important ability.  “Next year” is the mantra that gets you by.
Lately this season has been hard the losses have been big, the expectations have been higher than we are, and the the only thing we can do in the locker room is to keep it light and positive.  Celebrate the wins briefly moan about the losses and look forward to the next day the dots play.

While we would all rather win, the reality is, sometimes you are on the other side. I've lost an Ultimus in my career, I know what it's like to fail on the biggest stage. When you lose in the regular season though, it's a lot different. What I like to do most is show my teammates that I still support them. Even though we came up short, we need to keep our minds set on the bigger picture. The season is a battle of ups and downs and remaining level through them all will put the team in a position to recover from a loss and not get too high after a win. If we're on the verge of being eliminated from playoff contention within a couple of weeks, that's when I pull out the "Rah-Rah" speech type of thing. You can't do that too early or too often, it's a once or twice per year thing. I've been in this league a long time, and I've learned to accept that losing is the price you pay sometimes for challenging yourself and competing with the best that the entire world has to offer.

There are many ways to recover from a loss, from relaxing in a nice hot shower to relaxing or hanging out with friends/teammates. The most consistent way Gesicki has found to calm down and reset after a loss is a nice cone of ice cream. The ultimate comfort food, ice cream is great to eat and relax with. It cools you down (figuratively and literally) while letting you forget about the game for a minute. The best flavors for a post loss snack are usually something simple and fruity (like a nice strawberry or mango) but it depends on the loss. A run of the mill regular season 28-17 loss in week 13 during a little season requires different flavors then losing an overtime playoff game. If its a more serious loss like an overtime game or a playoff game, usually something heavier like a nice rocky road or turtle is preferred.

In the midst of his third season with the Honolulu Hahalua and with a grand total of six wins out of 35 games played, Lenard McRobinson is no stranger to losing. As a key part of a rebuild, it's expected that the team will take some lumps as it finds its identity and the young players evolve into the skilled veterans that they will surely become. Lenard is the quarterback and one of the oldest players on the roster, so his leadership and guidance is critical to make sure morale stays high and the team uses each loss as a learning experience. He helps the coaches coordinate film sessions and sits in with each offensive position group, making sure that every unit is on the same page about how to execute on the schemes to the highest degree. He also leads by example in the weight room and on the field, making sure he demonstrates the importance of hard work and always pushing yourself.
