We won our franchise's first Ultimus in my year at the helm and it was glorious. What a way to start things off, right? A few seasons later we did it again. That's right, two championships early on in my front office career. Not bad, eh? The last few seasons have been a bit more challenging, but I truly believe that the Silverbacks are laying the foundation to once again be serious postseason competitors. We have an exciting young core and a franchise quarterback to lead the way. We've found some exciting players in these last few drafts that I believe can help push us over the top. I believe I should continue to be GM of the New York Silverbacks because we are on the cusp of greatness. And, really, if I left then @zaynzk would have free reign over the team. And who wants that? Sadly we lost to Honolulu. S35 taught me as a GM a lot of things. We recovered from losing a couple key Players in free agency after the ultimus. We traded for CptGoodar and MamaB. Both great trades that elevated our team a lot! We had some good draft picks with Stein and G2019. Both will be very important in the future of BAL Now to this season, I know we haven't performed as expected, this is mostly to me not having enough time and energy. We are working very hard this offseason to bring us back to another playoff appearance and maybe more. I will have to step it up next season because the "bad" season started with me not putting enough time in. This will be different, league watch out! It's one of the most predictable things to happen in the league. Philadelphia finished 4th in the division again and again. Even though Negs & Lucid have done a great job the last couple seasons, it sounds like the Liberty could use a change at the General Manager positions. if only there was a player on the team who had GM experience, especially GM experience with the Philadelphia Liberty itself! I was the Co-GM in Philadelphia for 9 seasons from Season 26 to Season 34 and although we didn't have a ton of success on the field I don't think anyone would call the regime a bust. Now with all the knowledge gained over those 9 seasons and with a couple seasons break what better time to come back and lead the Liberty to an Ultimus championship! @negs @Luciddreams702 you guys are doing fantastic keep up the great work! RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - y2bobman - 07-31-2022 PBE RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - Arkz - 07-31-2022 Doug McCray has been General Manager of the Yellowknife Wraiths for a few seasons now, after taking over for a very successful previous regime. Unfortunately with his ascension, much of the old guard for Yellowknife retired or moved on, so Doug was left to rebuild the team almost from scratch, minus a few long-term legends in the twilights of their careers like Kai Sakura and Mark Walker. Fortunately for McCray, there was a strong quarterback prospect in the Developmental league and some quality talent in the secondary that could help carry a defense for at least a little bit. There were some exceptionally lean years when he first took over and it has taken a not-insignificant length of time for the team to tally back to back playoff appearances again but overall, Doug's career has been successful. He has negotiated a difficult rebuild and built the team into a perennial playoff contender. It remains to be seen if he can win a championship but at least the team is there. RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - xenosthelegend - 07-31-2022 As general manager of the Philadelphia Liberty, there are some changes that American Boot knew he had to made. The first of these changes being that everyone no longer had a locker, they instead had a box to put their stuff in, and live in if they so chose. Next, every draft selection was now rated by a new system, instead of actually looking at their football skills, if they were good at rocket jumping they were on the draft board. If they could not rocket jump, they would not be on the draft board. To rally the troops, every halftime speech would now be as follows: "If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! Unless it's a farm!". It would be a highly effective method that was sure to result in a massive increase in wins. He would quickly assemble a championship caliber roster, and would easily go undefeated for at least the next 28 seasons. So basically, American Boot for GM. RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - CptGoosar - 07-31-2022 So as the GM of the Portland Pythons for a fair few seasons now, this will be the end of my 6th season I would hope to think that’s I’ve done a few good things as a GM. Nkw why should I stay? Well Portland has an illustrious history in the DSFL and so should have a well deserved GM at their helm. Portland other GM Pug most certainly is this. Now I have lead Portland to a Ultimini appearance in S32 where unfortunately we lost to the Norfolk Seawolves in a close fought game (26 - 22) Last season (S35) we lost a close game to Kansas City. Now this season has started off really really strongly with a home field playoff spot already secured, hopefully this season can finally be the year where that proverbial monkey is lifted off my back and that we secure that long sort for Ultimini trophy. Hopefully this is a enough to keep my job as a GM. |
