Players in New Orleans know how the loss feels. We’ve been through the trenches, we’ve been down in the dumps for so long. We know how it feels and we know how to pick ourselfs up and keep on going. Right now this season, we’ve only had two losses. The first one, we responded with a 4 game winning streak. For our loss against austin, we know how tough a game against one of the top teams is going to be, and we know here and now we will take our licks here and there. We as a team know how to take the loss, look forward, and get the team, the staff, the FO going when we go through rough patches. Lick our wounds, watch tape, seal up Holes in our game plan, and then move forward onto the next game. Hopefully against the Yellowknife Wraiths, our team will show our winning mentality after a loss.

As the New York silverbacks are in a rebuilding phase there will naturally be losses. After a loss I think its important to highlight eberything that went well. If the team just focuses on every negative then its going to be a long season. This way, even if its a loss we can still be happy for something. I also think its important to reminder that the wins aren’t everything and theres a lot more to the sport than just that. Its not about the destination, its about the journey! I do also think it's important to have a distraction from the sport as well. If everything in your life involved the league, then you'll never be able to escape it and therefore won't be able to escape the pains of losses. Lyle is a gamer and that allows him to forget about the world for a while and just get immersed in a video game.

The big thing with a loss happening really is just trying to keep a level head and remembering that teams just don't go the whole season without losing. Take baseball for example, you play 162 games in a season you can't win them all, and while the ISFL doesn't play that many games, the season is grueling and it's just not possible to win all of them, nor would I want to win all of them. That creates an unneeded pressure on the team and the knowledge that teams are looking at you with a target because they want to end the win streak before you can win them all is very real. You have to keep moving forward after every loss, just like you move forward after a win, if you dwell on a loss that leads to more losing in the future, it's a distraction at the end of the day, we can learn from losing but will only lose if we dwell on said loss.

After a loss, some people may want to scapegoat others and point fingers by claiming x player was the reason they lost the game. This is an attempt at avoiding responsibility, and the coward's way out. Sure, your teammates could've been better, but you can't control that. What you need to do is focus on what you can control. What you can control is yourself. Do you want to choose to get caught up in this scapegoating and ignore others, or do you want to actually make something in this time? Do you have time to wallow in what could've been? No. You have another game in a week. Now is the time to focus on what you can do to improve yourself before that game next week. Now use that time to actually do something. Improve yourself, and make sure you can be as good as you possibly can be for that next game!
