16. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?

Seasons 50-60, the decade of the Hahalua. It was always expected that S50 was to be the start of a strong string of seasons for Honolulu, but almost nobody, not even the Hahalua roster, would’ve predicted just how strong this season ended up being. From 6-10 and missing the playoffs each of the last 2 years to 12-4 and the #1 seed in the ASFC the turnaround has been nothing short of spectacular. Despite a disappointing early exit in the ASFC championship to New York, it’s hard to see this year as anything but a success for Honolulu.

Honolulu didn’t suffer their first loss until week 3 against the Austin Copperheads. It was a rough one, ending with a score of 38-13 after 2 straight wins over New York and Orange County. 0 second half points rarely works out for the team that doesn't score and this game wasn’t about to break that trend. From 14-13 at half to an absolute blowout. Luckily the Hahalua bounced back quickly, absolutely obliterating the Osaka Kaiju 40-10, the biggest blowout of the year for Honolulu. When New Orleans came in in desperate need for a win to save a shockingly bad season up to that point, Honolulu was able to take 2 separate 17-point leads and nearly blew both of them, but narrowly held on 34-31. Then they went on the road to San Jose and beat them by 7, 31-24. Arizona showed that they were still too dog in the ASFC the next week with a 16-point win at home and then Colorado almost pulled off a huge road upset but the Hahalua were able to fend them off with a 6-point OT win. They then suffered their biggest slide of the season, dropping a game at home to New York and Baltimore. Then, all of a sudden, they decided they weren’t going to lose another game for the rest of the season. First Berlin, then San Jose, then New Orleans fell. Then with the final 3 games deciding who was making the playoffs the Hahalua first beat Austin to knock them out and guarantee a playoff spot, then they beat Arizona to lock up the ASFCs 1 seed. Once again OCO made the game much closer than it should've been but all the same Honolulu got the win and the sweep to enter the playoffs with a 6 game win streak. They then got knocked out immediately by New York who would go on to lose the Ultimus to Baltimore.

1. The Season 50 Ultimus and Ultimini have officially come to an end. Congratulations to the the Bondi Beach Buccaneers and Baltimore Hawks for each winning their respective championships. How did each of the finalists in either the Ultimus or Ultimini arrive at the playoffs? Were there any teams that surprised or disappointed during the playoffs? Did the outcome of either championship game surprise you at all?

Man, what a wild ride it’s been. First off, hats off to the Baltimore Hawks - they came to play, and they snatched that Ultimus right out of our hands with that 34-27 finish. But let me tell you somethin’ - the Silverbacks ain’t goin’ nowhere. This was just the beginning, and this jungle troop? We’re only gonna get hungrier.

Let’s break this down for y’all. Coming into this season with the Silverbacks was like a breath of fresh air. New team, new attitude, and we came out hot - Week 1, first game, first touch, I took it 90 yards on a kickoff return. You think the Honolulu Hahalua knew what hit ‘em? Nah, not even close, but we let that one slip away. First game jitters or whatever, 31-20, but I knew I was in the right place. Week 2, first touchdown in the Silverbacks jersey against the Copperheads, and from there, we started rollin'.

By Week 5, we were 3-1-1, and I was leading the league in rushing yards and touchdowns. I ain't here to be modest, that’s just facts. We were slappin' teams left and right, takin’ down reigning champs like the New Orleans Second Line in a thriller 24-23, and I’m out here putting up 104 receiving yards and returning kicks like it’s child’s play.

But man, midseason hit, and we had some stumbles - Wraiths, Crash… they gave us some bumps. It wasn’t pretty, but we rallied. When you lose, it ain’t about gettin’ down, it’s about gettin’ back up. We hit the playoffs hungry after scraping past my old squad, the Otters, and clinching our spot against Austin. 9-6-1, third seed in the ASFC, and we were ready for war.

Arizona Outlaws in the first round? BOOM, 35-28. They thought they had us, but we ran through them like it was the Wild West and we were the stampede. And the Hahalua? Come on, man. We already made manta ray sushi once this season, so we did it again - 24-16, defense played lights out, and I got my revenge. That was personal. Honolulu had no answer, and that was us punchin' our ticket to Ultimus L.
Now, let’s talk about that final. We came in hot, started strong. I hit that end zone early, and we’re up 10-0. Baltimore? They looked shook. But like all great teams, they bounced back. Wolfie McDummy Jr. and their squad got into a rhythm, and we had ourselves a damn battle. It was punch for punch, and even though I posted 76 rushing yards, 34 receiving yards, a touchdown, and ran wild on special teams, it wasn’t enough. Anakin Skywalker hit us with that late-game TD, and Master Chief’s field goal sealed it. 34-27. Heartbreaker, man. Straight up.

But lemme tell y’all somethin’. We walked off that field with our heads high. This ain’t the end of the Silverbacks’ story - it’s just the start. We showed the world that we’re for real, that we can run with the best of ‘em. We turned around what people thought would be a shaky season and made a run to the Ultimus. And I ain’t done - not by a long shot. Next season? Oh, you better believe we’re comin' back stronger. I got a point to prove, especially after goin' up against guys like Reginald Shrubbery - dude tried to keep me out of the team my rookie year. Look at us now.

Now, were there surprises in the playoffs? Yeah. Nobody expected us to go this deep as the underdogs. But if there’s one team that disappointed, it’s the Arizona Outlaws. They had the hype, they had the record, but when it mattered most? They folded. The Hahalua look like they are gonna go toe to toe with us for the foreseeable and I respect that.

But this season? The Hawks earned that win, but I’m tellin' you right now - Season 51, we’re comin' for the crown. The jungle’s gonna roar louder than ever, and Hammerfall’s just gettin’ started. Stay tuned.

Still can't believe y'all made it to the 'Mus. Dark horse contender for S51 again??

21. I have spent a bit of time out of the league, but I can say without a doubt the ultimate team player has to be Bazooka Joe. Bazooka Joe has been a huge part of the Locker Room. They have been an absolute breath of fresh air and one of my favourite users in the Baltimore Hawks LR - This is from when I was around and active. It was a breath of fresh air. Bazooka Joe is someone I had known from PBE so when I found out that the Hawks managed to get him in, I just new the vibes would be immaculate. To be honest, the teammates I had were all fantastic, there was great banter and everyone just seemed to get on extremely well. They even made me an emote in the server itself so that's really dope I'm so happy that they managed to win an ultimus and I wish them all the best in their future with their players. Shoutout to the GMs as well

Congratulations to both the Bondi Beach Buccaneers and Baltimore Hawks for winning their respective trophies. It is sad to have to write one of these when the great Arizona Outlaws are not winning, but it is what I must do. As said in each previous off season task that I have done, I congratulate the Bondi Beach Buccaneers on their great success, but as I have more knowledge on the International Simulation Football League, I will thus concentrate on how the Baltimore Hawks ended up winning the Ultimus.

The Baltimore Hawks were coming in as one of the top teams in the National SImulation Football Conference and they started out their season facing one of their main rivals and who they beat in the National Simulation Football Conference championship game last season, the Yellowknife Wraiths. The Hawks did got off to the best possible start, as they end up losing that game at home, with Yellowknife coming back in the fourth quarter and then taking the lead which they never surrendered. After that Baltimore decided to get its season back on track with two convincing wins, first against the Sarasota Sailfish on the road and then at home against the Berlin Fire Salamanders. They almost tripped up against one of the weaker teams, the Colorado Yeti, but were able to bring it home 34-32 after a Master Chief field goal with just 34 seconds left to play. They would then suffer another defeat, this time to the Osaka Kaiju, with their usually red hot offense being held to 10 points, albeit on the road. After this 3-2 start, they reel off 2 more wins against the Austin Copperheads and the Cape Town Crash, before falling to the New Orleans Secondline in a Ultimus rematch. After a mixed bag, they then went on a tear for the rest of the season, going 7-1, with their only defeat coming to the Sarasota Sailfish, where it almost looked like everyone took a day off to prepare for the rest of the season. This meant that with a 12-4 record they locked up first place in the National Simulation Football Conference and had a weeks rest before facing their next opponent

While on their bye week, the Hawks saw as the Osaka Kaiju and Sarasota Sailfish battled it out to see who would get to face the Hawks. Sarasota took care of the game in first half, putting up 28 points to the Kaiju 14 and they never lost that lead. In the Conference Championship Game, Baltimore did the same to Sarasota, racking up a 24-6 lead by half time. Sarasota tried to rally back, even scoring twice in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as the Baltimore Hawks emerged victorious in a 34-31 victory. Player of the game was definitely Wolfie McDummy Jr. who threw for 4 touchdowns on 22 attempts and a passer rating north of 145, impressive stuff! Then in the Ultimus, the Hawks would be taking on the New York Silverback, who were looking to regain former glory for the first time in a while and at least for me a bit of a surprise opponent, ast least if you had predicted this before the season started. This game would end up being a total nailbiter. New York would jumpt out to a 10-0 lead, before Baltimore fought back and the contest was 17-17 at half time. Entering the fourth quarter it was 24-20 to Baltimore, but New York quickly took the lead with a touch down from Zayn Feet-Lover Sr. With 5 minutes to go, Baltimore needed something and they got it from Anakin Skywalker, who rushed in for his third touchdown of the game. After a three and out by New York, the Hawks scored on a field goal to put away the game and win the Ultimus!

RE: (S51) Offseason Task - Pelochyta - 10-22-2024

3. Let's talk about the future. As we've seen in the ISFL and DSFL, things can go from rock bottom to the absolute top in just one quick season and vice versa. With that said, tell us about your predictions for next season. Were there any big moves made late in the season or the offseason that you believe could really shake things up? Are there any players hitting the season with a noticeably improved TPE pool or hitting regression hard that you believe could seriously factor into a team's potential success? And lastly, which team do you expect to be hoisting the trophy for either the ISFL or DSFL, and which teams do you expect will be struggling to stay away from the bottom on the pack?

I'll be talking about the DSFL as that is the only league I play in currently and therefore the only one I really know. Instead of a straight standings prediction (although maybe I will include that) it will be sorted into risers and fallers, with the predictions for best and worst teams at the end.

Negativity drives engagement so we'll start with teams I think will do worse.

FALLERS:

LON London Royals  LON

You're probably asking, how can a team that finished last place get even worse? The main reason is their offense -- two of their top WRs have gone inactive, another is getting called up, and their superstar QB will also get called up. That's so much offense that they'll be missing out on, and that was their strength coming into the season. The defense was easily worst in the league, and I don't think they're gonna improve enough to offset the massive losses from the offensive side of the ball. They'll need whatever replacements on offense to instantly be stars, and for the Absolue + Shadow Jr combo to carry the defense. They pick very very early in the draft which may be a path to having a successful season if they can nail the pick.

DAL Dallas Birddogs  DAL

Dallas faces a similar problem in that they're an older team and running out of time to stay down. Key players on both sides of the ball are probably getting called up. Their defense was particularly strong last season, and I think they'll be losing half of those top performers. They'll retain players at some important positions like RB and probably LB, but the losses coupled with a late pick in the draft will make it tough. I don't think they'll regress to last place or anything, but not a performance on the same level as this season.

RISERS:

MIN Minnesota Gray Ducks  MIN

A theme for both of the rising teams is that they have a lot of rookies who are high earners and call-ups at less important positions, especially QB. Minnesota has players like MacDougall, Turk, Geometry and Panda all drafted last season. They're already capped and set a strong foundation for the team. If their capped WRs and RBs are called up - that's fine, because they have capped WRs and RBs waiting in the wings. The long term plan seems to have been set up perfectly and they'll be able to grow again this season, likely into a playoff team. They won't have an early pick but I think they'll be able to overcome it.

KCC Kansas City Coyotes  KCC

Same logic as above - KCC has a stellar core from the most recent draft. Facing some losses on defense, yes, but there's plenty of talent to fill the shoes. Their QB is staying, and while there may be a need for an RB this can be addressed in the draft, which they also pick early in. There's plenty of chances to fill the holes  on the roster and really jump start some team success. I think Kansas City can compete for a playoff spot, but will need some luck and/or sim hoeing to get into the playoffs.

Best record prediction: Minnesota Gray Ducks (10-4)
Worst record prediction: London Royals (1-13)

Full standings predictions:

(first place team on top):

Minnesota Gray Ducks
Kansas City Coyotes
Portland Pythons
London Royals

Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Norfolk Seawolves
Dallas Birddogs
Tijuana Luchadores

Portland narrowly misses out on the playoffs by tiebreakers or some sim hoeing in the last week, allowing KCC in. Minnesota wins that matchup handily, and Bondi Beach dispatches Norfolk much the same. In a back and forth Ultimini, Minnesota wins by a field goal and we have our third different champion in three seasons.
