Hype is a strong thing to have in a player. Many players going into this years draft have ridden the hype train all the way to the bank. No greater example is that of the formidable Blaster Blade. He showed up out of know where one day and exploded into our living rooms. NSFLN played his interviews on loop all week leading up to the draft. Everyone knew he'd be a top 5 pick. Come draft day, the hype train for Blaster Blade stopped in Colorado. The Yeti acquired the monstrous DE second overall and made him one of the teams focal point for this season's defensive scheme.

But part of being a hyped player is living up to that hype. There was no question that Blaster's work ethic would be nothing short of that of an ox in an old fashioned grain mill. But how would all that work out on the field? Preseason gives us the chance to follow up on the hype that is Blaster.

Week one of the Preseason found Blaster and the Colorado Yeti in the frozen north, taking on the Yellowknife Wraiths. While most of the fans up there came out to see how Wraith rookies like Dermot Lavelle, Kevin Cushing and Bork Bjornsson did in their home opener, some fans of the Yeti showed up to watch Blaster. However the trip was wasted as he didn't even make it onto the field of play. For a short while there was speculation of whether Blaster was holding out, lazy or potentially injured. Yeti personnel remained silent.

Week two came and Colorado was home and hosting the Arizona Outlaws. Rumors swirled about whether Blaster was going to suit up or not, and when the team came out in the field a collective sigh was breathed when the fans saw the big defensive end rumble out of the tunnel, throwing his hands up in the air causing them to work up into a hysteria. On the field, he made his presence felt. He netted four tackles and a sack. The crown was elated to see their top pick lay out the Quarterback for the first time.

All that week it was the polar opposite of the one prior. Newspapers cheered that Blade was the face of the defense and that he's only going to get better as time goes on. Despite being 0-2, the team was pleased with what they saw out of their rookie. Staying at home, this time they faced the expansion Las Vegas Legion. Blaster exploited their sieve of a defense and took down the QB a whopping three times on their way to their first victory. Three sacks in one game from the rookie solidified that this guy is legit and the hype train in Colorado is rolling along.

The final week, the Orange County Otters came into town. The stadium was packed, even though it was the final week of preseason. Orange County always draws a crowd. Blaster saw the opportunity to make his presence felt yet again. This time he tallied six tackles, three of which came for a loss and he added a sack onto his already impressive numbers.

Overall, even though he only played in 3 games he outplayed every other Defensive End drafted in this year's draft. If that's not an exciting player to follow going into this second season, I don't know what is. Blaster is most certainly on the radar for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

When it came to season one there were few bigger letdowns than former Yellowknife Wraiths Co-GM and now Las Vegas Legion Head General Manager, Tyler Varga. A player of immense physical talent and football knowledge, Varga played left defensive end on the strongest defensive front in the league, despite 6 sacks and 11 tackles for loss, he was easily the biggest disappointment on that line. Trent Bender slacked off an entire season but steamrolled into double digits for sacks despite playing backup minutes in the last four games. Mark Ramrio was in my opinion, the league's top defensive tackle and Jason Spearhead had his brother's death which occupied a majority of his free time but still managed to be productive enough to make the pro bowl. Varga realized that he probably wasn't fit out to play defensive line, so he switched to linebacker, a far more in demand position for his squad. The transition seemed seamless and we look forward to seeing the havoc the former NFL prospect can unleash on this league from the MAC spot. Hopefully he'll bring consistency to what is, arguably, the most important defensive position in the game today and hold down the line for as long as his body allows him.

One of the biggest rising stars that you don't hear much is Fox North. This kid can ball out. The 6’1 210 from Penn State has shown everyone in training camp that he is the real deal. North has the height, the speed, and the tenacity to fight for every ball thrown his way. As you watch him you can see something special that is being developed. Top receiver for Philadelphia already he is going to be thrown into the fire in his rookie year. He will catch almost everything in his reach and once he has the ball in his hands it's almost like trying to pry it off a frozen dead guy. The offense is definitely going to look for him to be a focal point in the movement of the ball. If he can stay healthy and be as effective as we have seen him in training camp he can be very dangerous to opposing cornerbacks. Though a few question remain with his maturity level and how well he can adapt and survive under pressure, he is a player that many fans are going to glue their eyes on. With the regular season just right around the corner, Fox North and the rest of the Philadelphia Liberties have to be prepared as this season will not be a cakewalk for the new team.

I season 1 the outlaws got scott timlin who was new center and wanted to be on a team. In season 1 scott timlin was a quiet guy who did not make a lot of noise and just came and did his things and then went again. Most people did not know what he was doing and he was part of our offensive line that wasn’t so good. But this season he has time under his belt and money from a contract and he knows hes part of the outlaw for life team at center until he retires. In season 3 I think scott timlin will be a big leader and training to new rookie offensive lineman that come to the outlaws because I think in season 2 he shows hes a good player. Scott timlin so far in the preseason has helped me get lots of pancakes in the games so reg mackworthy can do this running back work horse thing and get yards. If scott timlin plays so good in the normal season then I think he will be in the top 10 of the offensive line in the league. Being one of the people that was around but shows hes a good player in season 2.

A Breakout Star is someone who goes from some other guy to a star in a flash. When you think about it, you think of players like Landon Collins, Jay Ajayi, or Terrelle Pryor. They went from guys who weren't on anyone's radar, to high profile NFL players. That's exactly what King Bronko is about to become.

Bronko spent last year as a WR3, and didn't get a lot of time, with just 400 receiving yards, and then decided to move to quarterback. In his two tryouts behind Draxel, he went 11/13 with a TD. He clearly has the potential, but a few drives in garbage time are far from clearing up all doubt.

Bronko has flown relatively under the radar and isn't really considered a top QB, but he has all the potential. We saw that in his few downs of play. But most importantly, his athleticism and IQ is top notch. He has the athletic ability to play almost every position, But also has mobility he gained from training as a wide receiver that makes him hard to take down. On top of that, his strength gives his a very strong arm among QBs. Bronko thinks he can win QBotY this year in his first year at the position!

As the only main running back on the new expansion team, the Philadelphia Liberty, Omar Wright has a fantastic chance to become the next big superstar in the NSFL. He will get plenty of chances in an offense that will likely struggle a bit. As the quarterback play is still a question mark, chances are that Wright will be fed the ball over and over during the game. The only big question mark is the worry that the offensive line is just not good enough to support his running style. But Wright has enough talent to still stand out and become a major player in this league. If the Liberty manage to improve their offensive line, Wright has his way paved to become a huge superstar. It will be a huge advantage for Wright that he has no other Running Back to compete with for carries, at least at this point. It will be interesting to see if the Liberty try to trade for a back-up running back or draft one next year, but for now Wright has all the opportunity in the world to succeed. The team might not have enough success early on to make him a superstar, but if Wright can lead his team to the playoffs somehow, he will be the reason why.

Blaster Blade. Name like that, you better be doing something exciting - And it looks like, this season, he might just be. Picked up early last season off waivers by Arizona, Blade's NSFL debut might've turned some heads. Three tackles, two for loss, a sack and a forced fumble looked to be a solid addition to the Outlaws defence. However, there had obviously been no great impression made on the team's GMs. Blade oscillated between first and second string, at times appearing to have breakout performances before fading back into the shadows. Although his side laid claim to the Ultimus Trophy, Blade was anonymous with only one tackle to show in the final.

It's no surprise he came to Colorado with something to prove, having been taken second overall in the draft after his waiver expired. Playing just three pre-season games, Blade produced five sacks - including an intimate introduction for new boys Las Vegas. Interviewed after the game, GM InciteHysteria stater Blade was "just eating" - And at three hundred and ten pounds, the lad can sure eat. A star player in the Yeti's new-look defence, Blaster Blade is a prime candidate to be setting the league alight this season.
