Now Brian Vincent-Vega isn't 100 percent sure if he understood exactly what the White Elephant gift exchange was, but he decided to bring two gifts. A funny one and a nice one. The funny one was a senior care package for the older members on the team like Spottie, Stinkwater and Akayre. It consisted of reading glasses, some crossword puzzles, a bottle of wine, and a nice scarf. The nice one was a custom Outlaws-themed Magic the gathering playmat. He knew some players on the team were avid players and he wanted to get something for He had zero knowledge about the game and had to do some pretty extensive research(What is a Commander?) and ultimately settled on the playmat. Brian Vincent-Vega himself ended the night with a jar of vegemite from Paul Dosza and some high-quality ice from Fortified Fridge. A lot of drinks were had and the Outlaws had a great time.

This would be a pretty high end white elephant, as opposed to your normal $20 limit or so. Eliot would bring some expensive whiskey to the party with some drinking glasses to match, secretly hoping for the opportunity to steal it for himself as the exchange went on. There were tv's and drones and rolex watches and other items that were appropriate for professional football paychecks. In the end, Eliot's gift was stolen, and he ended up with a statue of a literal white elephant, which he was actually pretty intrigued by. However, he had drank enough by that point to not really care what he got. In the true Christmas spirit, he was overwhelmed with love and appreciation for his teammates who had shared the ups and downs of their current season. The party was a boisterous time, lasting late into the night and only becoming more chaotic over time. In the end, repairs were needed for the locker room after a large, inebriated lineman took a tumble and crashed.

White Elephant gift exchanges are often fun team building exercises, and the Orange County Otter swap is no different. Instead of going for something intentionally ugly or funny, my wife went and made an OCO knit cap for the event, and the logo was almost accurate. It kind of looks like a guinea pig, but I figure the team will love it either way.

The night of the event comes, and I am not disappointed by most of the gifts. Outside the always popular booze and snacks, there’s the arrangement of random joke t-shirts, signs with various innuendos, and finally, someone wrapped up a rock, presumably from the rock garden just outside the venue. I work on getting the bottle of homemade hooch that Jamadrian brought, but there was aggressive stealing for that all night.

At the end of the party, I was happy that Bread Bowl ended up with the hat I brought, and I ended up with a paperweight of an otter dressed up like the Statue of Liberty, holding a football instead of a torch. It will be on my mantle until next year, when maybe I’ll re-gift it for the party.

Howard Coward has always been a huge fan of white elephant swaps during the holiday season. His family was rather large, so instead of doing “everyone gets presents for everyone”, they would do a white elephant swap. It was always a ton of fun! Now that he’s old and can pick gifts, he likes to get unique gifts. This year, his gift is going to be the hit of the party. He’s getting a goldfish bowl, some gravel for the bowl, a fish net to catch them, some fish food, and of course, two live goldfish. Imagine opening up a big box during the swap and pulling all of that out! Hilarious! As for what he looks to steal, it’s always dependent on what’s out there. Every year, something he didn’t expect catches his eye. If he gets picked early and there aren’t any fun gifts, he’ll always grab a new, unwrapped gift to chuck into the mix with the hope that it's good enough to steal later on, and then he can steal from someone else. There’s not many things Blacksmith Andre knows about how to contend with his teammates for Christmas, as he is still quite new to it, but obviously he would bring some gear he has blacksmithed. There’s many different things that Blacksmith Andre has smithed, and he would probably bring some sort of nice helmet that he made. Obviously, he would try to steal any sort of metal that someone else had brought that Blacksmith Andre would be able to be melted down and smelted into some sort of other item of which he could be able to then turn into some sort of other blacksmithed item. Blacksmith Andre would also think that everyone would be quite relaxed at this White Elephant party and that everyone would be all about getting what it needs to be done. It would be pretty fun and everyone would try to probably steal Blacksmith Andre’s gift, because who wouldn’t want a nicely smithed item?

Bread Bowl has always been a huge fan of christmas. Ever since he was a young wheat plant in his fathers field he has been gifting and unwrapping as many gifts as possible. So when he heard that the Orange County Otters were doing a gift swap, he could not have been any more excited! He went to the finest store in Orange County and bought a great gift, a retro game-boy system! He wrapped it up all nice and slapped a bow on it, making it the best christmas gift of all time! He also had his father send him some of their homemade wine from their farm in Missouri, just in time for the party. Bread Bowl showed up with three bottles of his families wine and a perfectly wrapped gift! As they broke bread and wine, the gift sharing started. The gaming system started with Walrus Jones, but was taken by Shrubbery, who then had it taken by Bannings, who then had it intercepted (typical) by Jamar Lackson, who ended up with the gaming system, who proceeded to sell it on ebay for a whopping 76$.

Geralt would bring a very rare stone found on one of his travels, probably with gold or sapphire flecks in it, and wrap it in about 10 different boxes before finally revealing the true prize. Perhaps in tinfoil, then in plastic wrap, then in a small box, then in a slightly larger box, and so on and so forth until the package was about as large as a set of dinner plates, at which point he would neatly wrap it and top it with a bow. As for items he would look to steal, he would be on the lookout for any kind of alcoholic beverage, be it a fine wine, a nice brandy, a strong whiskey. Probably not a vodka though. He would also be on the lookout for any cool weapons, maybe a sword or knife, or even pocketknife, that catches his eye. He'd also watch for records, vinyls, that he could take to play on his antique record player.
