2. Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
And here we see salt in its natural habitat. Just kidding, the Orange County Otters played the Arizona Outlaws in an epic battle for the ASFC championship this past postseason. The game was back and forth and both defenses (and the referees) really came to play. If you came to see a special teams battle with a war for field position, this was the game for you. I'm sure Bill Belichick shed a tear while this game was being simmed and he didn't know why. The punters combined for 19 kicks between the both of them. 10 for the Otters with 3 inside the 20, and 9 for the Outlaws with 2 inside the 20. They say you have to win all 3 stages of the game and special teams was an especially important one in this game. Arizona did manage to force the only turnover in this game (a fumble by Charles Allan recovered by Raymond Vans) and held Franklin Armstrong to just 140 yards in the air but it wasn't enough. Eventually the sheer amount of penalties crushed any hope and fight the Outlaws had this game as they were called for 8 penalties 63 yards to the Otters 3 for 25. When it comes down to it, you can't have that many free yards given to a team as good as Orange County who would go onto the Ultimus and beat the Yellowknife Wraiths 16-10.

4. Next year
Alright, the Arizona Outlaws may have been eliminated by the Otters is the ASFC title game, but next season is totally the season we get back to the Ultimus game and win it all again. Why do I feel that way? Well, it certainly is not because I have my boy Bucky Barnes around to carry the defense. His days of being a big time contributor on the defense are pretty much all over as he enters his 12th and final season. Nope, next year we're going to win it all because of the offense. Andrew Reese is on the back half of his career but he just won a QB of the Year award which means he's still got plenty of stuff left in the tank. Our running game will almost definitely improve with Ruff Ruff, the Goodest Boy, entering the NSFL and replacing long time tailback Slim Shady, who has been on a downturn for a while now. The receiving corp should still be good with Saba Donut really starting to look like he could be a WR1 sooner rather than later. The defense will stay strong with Lamont Mckinnie, Lucas Knight, and Raymond Vans taking up the most space and continuing to terrorize opposing offenses. Don't be surprised when the Outlaws are back in the playoffs next season and winning the whole damn thing.

S18 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - CDub2 - 11-18-2019

1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
Playoffs were pretty snooze filled again. There were only 2 games that really mattered. The rest were the same old sim rigging we see every year from HO. The first interesting game to review is YKW vs the Chicago Butchers. Obviously this game should have been close as YKW is notorious for falling apart in the playoffs on home field. Well, luckily for them, HO stepped in and sim rigged so the score wasn't even close. But looking at the stat sheet reveals a different story. Mike Hockherts blew up the YKW offense recording 13 tackles and a couple PDs. Without HO, YKW was done for. Well, sadly, HO likes OCO more than YKW. Another year where the leagues best loses the big game and OCO takes home another trophy. It's getting old and tired to watch the league favour one team more than everyone else. But oh well, still a good game. Just a shame that the leagues two best offenses put on such a snooze fest. We should really deserve more as fans. We came to watch Armstrong and Bigsby air it out and set records, not silly defenses and punts. Nobody likes punts. And in a 16-10 games, there are a lot of punts. 207

3) All about the QBs

One area where I think Chicago was somewhat comparable to YKW was at QB. Yes, I know everyone humps Bigsby's leg non stop as the best QB in the league, but QB was the one position where YKW didn't completely blow CHI out of the water. Rose Jenkins is a capable QB and has the power of weebs and waifus on her side. Without anime, the whole CHI team would crumble, but Rose can harness all the virgin energy in the LR and produce some pretty competent performances. And watching Bigsby put on a stinker in the Ultimus made me realize that if he would have played that way against CHI, Chi would be in the finals on the back of Jenkins. It's not like either QB blew the game out during this quarter final match up. Just if Jenkins was a little better or Bigsby was a little worse, it's a brand new game where anyone could take and YKW would continue their playoff futility. Again, if HO didn't step in and force win the YKW into the finals, I think the league would see how good Jenkins is. Unfortunately, HO doesn't want to promote the CHI lifestyle, so we will never see the light. 207

5) Stupid Tiebreaker!

This is an iffy one because technically the Butchers did make the playoffs but the got the Wraiths instead of the Hawks because of the tie breaker with the Yeti. Well, what an absurd tie breaker. CHI wold have dusted the Hawks like nothing and waltzed their way to a more intense YKW anxiety inducing match up that YKW would likely fall apart and lose conference finals. Well, in the regular season, we smashed the Yeti and they scraped by us in overtime in the second game of the season. Does this constitute a tie breaker win? In my opinion, no. We deserve that 3rd seed no question. The Yeti were an over time away from basement dwelling with the stinking Liberty, and we know how bad the Liberty are. The fact that they go from Liberty level of play to the 3rd seed because of an overtime fluke play should not be allowed. CHI have grinded out an entire season of consistent play and the Yeti have done what the Yeti always do. They sucked, but just barely enough to stay relevant. We should not reward teams like that. We need to reward the future of the league, and that is CHI. Everyone else is living in the past. 210

7) Next year

Well if you've read this far, you know the Chicago Butchers are dominating the league next year. The draft is gonna be loaded with talent, we already have a great core and Rose Jenkins is a under valued and under appreciated QB in the league. She could carry any team to the Ultimus no problem. Sure we lost some aging vets this year and Jackson departing in the off season for poor reasons was unexpected, but it's not like SJ SaberCats are an actual threat to anybody. It just cleared a roster spot for someone with actual talent to come in and make a difference. Look at the YKW game. We outplayed them. HO rigged it and then YKW made the finals. If you take away HO meddling, CHI is in the finals this year and we weren't even at our max power level yet. We are still climbing and any fools out there that doubt it just watch. Then you'll all be clamouring to sign here in FA and we can pick people who never disrespected us. All you nerds doubting us will wish you were us. We are fueled by anime and anger and nobody will stop us until we caress our waifus and the Ultimus in bed at the same time. 214

S18 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - terriblehippo - 11-18-2019

1. PLAYOFF REVIEW: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches.
This season’s Ultimus saw a matchup between two perennial playoff favorites: the Yellowknife Wraiths and the Season 17 champion Orange County Otters. The league’s two best teams finished with a combined record of 21-5, and allowed just 239 and 233 points all season long respectively. Fans were expecting an offensive shootout, but the experts knew that the Ultimus would be a defensive struggle. And indeed it was: neither team broke 100 yards rushing, and both struggled to convert on third down. At the end of the day, however, it was the Otters defensive squad that prevailed. They recorded five sacks: two on back-to-back plays late in the first quarter, and another on the very last play of the game to secure the win. They also intercepted Wraiths QB Cooter Bigsby twice, the second of which allowed a 47-yard field goal, and recovered the game’s lone fumble. The Otters struggled with penalties, but their defensive effort proved enough to overcome their 55 penalty yards. The Wraiths defense struggled early, allowing both a touchdown pass from Franklin Armstrong and a three-yard rushing TD from rookie Charles Allan in the first quarter, but eventually recovered; the only Otters points after that was from the aforementioned 47-yard field goal. Unfortunately, the Wraiths offense struggled to move the ball, and star quarterback Cooter Bigsby looked like he was seeing ghosts; the only Wraiths touchdown came early in the fourth quarter on a 28-yard strike to Nate Swift. That score pulled the Wraiths within a touchdown, but they were unable to close the gap against the dominant Otters defense. When the final horn sounded, it was Otters on top, holding on to their crown with a 16-10 victory. Now the question on everyone’s mind is, will the Otters be able to replicate their success and secure the three-peat? Only time will tell.

7. NEXT YEAR: If your team has been eliminated, why will the next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus.
New Orleans got off to a great start this season, going 5-2 in their first seven games and looking like strong playoff contenders. Unfortunately, the second half of their season saw them go winless and finish with a dismal 5-8 record. The Second Line have now not had a winning season since S11, when they won the Ultimus. But looks and be deceiving, and anyone who writes off the Second Line without a closer look is in for a big surprise next season. The trades the team made this season, while controversial, certainly helped bring in more talent: Blake Faux will continue to serve the team well on the defensive side of the ball, and NOLA entered the draft with a mind-boggling three picks in the first round, including the #1 and #3 overall picks. Like in years past, New Orleans is in prime position to draft some top-tier talent onto an already talent-laden roster. New Orleans is also becoming an attractive destination for free agents: more and more players are finding themselves drawn toward the young and talented New Orleans roster. And what a roster it is! Running back Forrest Gump continues to burn the league on the ground, and only seems to be improving; young defensive lineman Bjorn Ironside is living up to the hype that comes with being the first overall pick; linebacker Quenton Bode continues to be the anchor for the New Orleans defense, finishing second in tackles after finishing first in tackles last season; and sophomore cornerback Jordan Andrews proved he has the potential to be one of the best secondary players in the league. When the dust settles post-draft and post-free agency, this team will have all the necessary pieces to make a championship run (not to mention the leadership to use those pieces successfully). But, if New Orleans doesn’t end up winning the Ultimus next season, they’ll have another great chance in Season 20: they don’t have a single player who will be regressing next offseason. Expect to see this team fighting for the Ultimus for a long time.

16. UNSUNG HERO: Who was the unsung hero of the playoffs, convince us.
It isn’t easy to be a rookie on the biggest stage in sim football. But Tyrone Biggums proved that he absolutely deserved to be in the spotlight, and his contributions on the field were a big part of the reason the Otters finished the season with another championship. Biggums’ first career playoff matchup came against the Arizona Outlaws, who won the Ultimus in Season 16. But Biggums didn’t shy away from the moment or from his opponents. He made plays from the very beginning of the game, stopping Arizona from converting a long third down and forcing them to settle for a field goal. He finished the game with nine tackles, behind only teammates Lanzer Grievous and Dan Schnieder, and a PD. In the Ultimus, the rookie proved that he deserved to be on the field, and that he has the potential to be a force for the Otters for a long time. Deep in Otters territory, the Wraiths had a chance to find the endzone, but Biggums recorded a huge third down stop, and the Wraiths opted to kick a field goal instead. Later in the quarter, he brought down Xavier Flash and stopped a 31-yard pickup from going for even more. He lost zero momentum at halftime; he intercepted a pass from Cooter Bigsby, which allowed the Otters to drive downfield and kick a field goal of their own. At the end of the game, with enough time on the clock for the Wraiths to make one more play and perhaps take the lead, Biggums made his biggest play: he blitzed hard and fast, blowing by his blocker and taking Bigsby to the ground, securing the Otters victory. Biggums achieved that rare goal of winning the Ultimus as a rookie, but he certainly isn’t the kind of player who will use that as an excuse to stop working. He will definitely be a star in a few seasons, and he will almost certainly see another Ultimus before he retires.

17. ROBBED: Write about why your team was robbed from making the playoffs, how did the sim screw you and why you were more deserving.
Picture this: it’s halfway through the season. The New Orleans Second Line are 5-2 and comfortably atop the league power rankings, thanks to an impenetrable defense and a red-hot offense. The second half of the season had some tough games, sure, but the coaching staff was confident that the team would win some of the coin-flip games and finish the season as strong Ultimus contenders. But the sim had other plans. It seemed as though quarterback Stan Francisco had suddenly gone colorblind, throwing to his opponents just as often as he threw to his own receivers. Running back Forrest Gump saw his production fall off a cliff, and the endzone became a stranger to him. The elite Second Line defense suddenly and inexplicably fell apart: after allowing just 125 points in the first half of the season, they allowed a whopping 202 in the final six games. New Orleans’ point differential in the first seven games was +29, but for some reason the final six games of the season resulted in a mind-boggling -81 point differential. The most commonly cited explanation for this sudden turn of events were the various trades New Orleans made during the season, swapping promising young players for older vets and draft picks. New Orleans’ struggles began just after two of their biggest moves, and many fans speculated that their struggles were a direct result of those moves. But members of the New Orleans organization know better, and while the trades certainly had an impact on the team, they were the best moves possible at the time. It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the Second Line’s late season struggles (although I am of the opinion that the sim just hates New Orleans), but the most important thing to keep in mind is that Season 18 is over and done with. Now, it’s time for the Second Line to turn their focus to Season 19, and to winning the Ultimus.

1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims have predictions, after if it is a review of the game.

Orange county Otters vs Yellowknife wraiths in the Ultimus! A defensive battle that many thought would be an offensive show by the Wraiths. Being played in the frozen tundra of the north fans expected the Otters to falter by not being able to keep up with their wide receivers or withstand the thumping in the trenches which is exponentially worse in the cold. The exact opposite happened when the otters punched the wraiths in the mouth to open the first quarter. After that both teams played lock down defense and it was a game of field position and penalties for the otters as they had a total of nine to the wraiths ZERO. The wraiths may have had the bigger defensive line and veteran defensive backs but it was the otters youth and speed that bothered the wraiths. Bigsby ended with lower than his season average in passing yards and forced into two interceptions. Not all were his fault as the smaller running back Marshall had no chance out muscling a safety for his pass in the flat. Neither team had an effective day on third days as both were less than 30% conversion. It really is any given Sunday or this case Wednesday that a team can come out victorious as the underdog. (214 words)

7) Next year
Written: If your team has been eliminated, why will the next year, or the year after that, be the year that your team is going to win the Ultimus or Ultimini.

After a heart breaking loss in the Ultimini of twenty three to ten the underdog Marshals will be looking to capture the crown in over five seasons. The left overs of season 18 will be getting called up to the NSFL so that will even the chances as S17 had the majority of the Marshals drafted in the first two rounds and called up to play for their NSFL teams. Other DSFL teams had the luxury of veteran player to fill out their depth chart. This upcoming season is SA’s turn. They have a returning quarterback and wide receiver that can continue to grow their connection with the two stalwarts holding down the offensive line. On defense there is a stud at every level, Bjorn is coming back in the trenches, Marston is back to shoot down opposing passes and Allen Josh the should be linebacker of the year if IA’s were eligible locks down the middle of the field. To think that Peter Brand and Leon Maverick were GM’ing their first season ever and was able to take them deep into the playoffs, they should be able to build upon the mistakes they made to guide this team back deep into the playoffs. Tijuana and Portland Suck. (208 words)

10) Rivalries
Written: Write about another team and why they are overrated and why you want them to lose.
Graphic: Show a statistical representation of why said team is overrated.

Tijuana is a heated mess. A thing that is a mess and once heat is applied is even messier. Being down near the equator has fried their brains and made them delusional. They are overated because they practice with their shirts off and get all goldeny brown tan and everything thinks they are so strong and fit. But really its just the fake bake effect. The all show no go muscles. The only reason their skill players are any good is because they have fourty year old offensive lineman that man handle the rookies and will never get called up to the big leagues as all the drugs and tequilia in Tijuana have ruined their lives. Don’t get me started on the defense. All you can eat taco’s! No wonder there isn’t a running lane against that defensive line when they are all 400 lbs. And because of this wall their secondary gets to run free and make all the tackles. And boy do they want the tackles as the team facility has a bull riding machine and the more tackles you get the more time you get to spend on the mechanical bull. I could go on and on about the corrupt, shady, and immoral practices of the Luchadores but I won’t. (213 words)

13) Sit-down with a fan:
Written: Answer questions for an interview from a player that is not your own. You must answer at least four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. Link to the interviewers PT to receive credit. NOTE: THEY MUST POST THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR YOU TO GET CREDIT.

Sitting down with a star of the DSFL Waldo AKA Zach Vega the QB of the San Antonio Marshals Ultimini losers
1. Your first year in the league you lead your team to an Ultimini. How does that make you feel and how did you get there?

Well i would use the term “lead” lightly, the defense carried us more than anything; but i would say it gives me confidence to know that someone out there thinks i did well

2. Quarterback is a developmental position. How do you forecast your stats next year and what are the biggest lessons you will take from your rookie year moving forward?

well i definitely believe i can develop and become a better QB, starting in my rookie year definitely gave me the experience and i believe that my stats next year will show that

3. From having a hot start to the season then keeping good care of the ball for the rest of season can you explain what in the two playoff games that caused you to average two interceptions?

that run at the end of the year made me more confident throwing the ball to a point where i think i got too confident and made many mistakes

4. As the draft is coming up who are you going to miss from the Marshals and what positions do you hope they grab in the upcoming draft?

i can’t say i’ll miss just one of these guys, i love each and everyone of them; i hope they get a WR as our corps are going to be depleted next season

S18 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - goodfortunecoffee - 11-19-2019

1. Playoff Review:

Well for this installment I decided to pick a game that cuts deep. I'm gonna review the stunning San Antonio upset of the 13-1 Tijuana Luchadores in the S18 SFC Championship Game. I think enough time has passed now where the wound has healed (it helps that the Marshals lost the following game, I think.) The match began with San Antonio leading a promising 10-play 31-yard drive that included a bold 4th & 2 conversion on their own 33! A pair of penalties on SA held them back from doing much damage and they settled for a punt on 4th & 16 from TIJ 44. The Lucha started on their own 20 and marched 80 yards in 12 plays in typical dominate fashion. 4 first downs, including 2 third down conversions capped off by a 3 yard touchdown run from Fuzzy Dotson. 7-0 Tijuana.

Then it became a defensive battle. 7 consecutive combined punts from both teams, 3 of which were quick 3 & outs. Also notable was a San Antonio drive cut short by a clutch 3rd-down sack by Howard Ryan on 3rd & 4. Instead of trying what would've been a 49 yard FG, the Marshals elected to punt it. Tijuana started on their own 20 again and went 56 yards, 32 of which came on a big 3rd & 10 completion to Jordan McCann. Jordan Jackson was money from 41 yards out, and the Luchadores add to their lead. 10-0 Tijuana.

San Antonio came right back with a strong drive that was stalled out thanks to a Gary Lazer-Eyes sack and a Gary Lazer-Eyes pass deflection 2 plays later. This time they tried for a FG and got it from 40 yards out. Tijuana would only have time for 1 handoff before the end of the half. 10-3 Tijuana at halftime.

Each team would trade punts to start the second half before Avon Blocksdale Jr would toss an ill-advised pass right into Juan Marstons hands. However, 2 plays later, Zach Vega would give the ball right back with an interception to defensive superstar Howard Ryan, his second big play of the day. The Luchadores did little offensively to capitalize and punted it back to the Marshals, only for Vega to throw his second pick of the day, this time to lockdown corner Zach Bailey. Tijuana would go 36 yards in 8 plays before attempting a short field goal. In a stunning turn of events, the usually automatic Jordan Jackson missed the 39 yarder, and the Marshals' Mathias Hanyadi would take a carry 78 yards to pay dirt on the very next play. We've got a tie game to end the third quarter. 10-10.

The fourth quarter started with 3 consecutive 3 & outs by both teams, including another sack by Howard Ryan for Tijuana. Then San Antonio would move the ball 62 yards to paydirt, boosted heavily by an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against the Luchadores and a huge 32 yard Jim McMahon completion. Ruff Ruff would pound it in from 1 yard out and the Marshals get their one and only lead of the game. 17-10 San Antonio.

The final drive of the Tijuana Luchadores historic season started on their own 24 with 7:42 remaining in the 4th. Earl Sauce was clutch, nabbing 2 3rd down catches to get the drive into the Marshals redzone. Unfortunately, on a 4th & 5, on San Antonios 11 yard line, with 2:37 left on the clock, Avon Blocksdale decided to eschew chucking it to his outside recievers and opted to throw it to Jed Podolak. This despite Jed being on the 7 yard line, whilst McCann was past the 1st down marker, and F.Dotson being open and heading close to the end zone. Sigh. The turnover on downs was followed by San Antonio running out the clock enough before a punt to end any chance of Tijuana touching the ball again. 17-10 San Antonio Final.

8. Draft Focus:

The Philadelphia Liberty are still a young blossoming team. They could use some more help. Let's go position by position. At QB, we've got Falconi who is regressing more and more. However, we already know with the 11th pick, Philly will nab Avon Blocksdale Jr. Avon is only at 209 tpe and will need another season before being ready to play. Running Back we're good. We still have Farley Hank and yours truly ready to go. Wide Receiver? We might need to snag one. We've got Varga and Dropson, but maybe we go for a thrid option here? Maybe a late round pickup like Jacob Andrews? Defesnive line is a big need. Even with up and coming Zach Hall, we need more help. I'm hoping maybe we trade up in this draft and get someone like Jayson Kearse if he's still available or Tormund Bjornnson would be good later in the draft. Stevie Vassallo too, but I could see him being drafted in the 1st round. Linebacker is definitely a position of need outside of Thudd Kassel, but there are only 3 options on the board. Hardagain is going to Chicago guaranteed, Mack is rightfully getting mocked 1oa my numerous sources, and Jeremiah Legend is IA. So that sucks. Unless Philly makes a big trade to try and steal Arianlacher, this will probably be kind of a weak spot in S19. The secondary might be Philly's brightest spot actually. Maybe they go for somebody like Lazer-Eyes, or Beat, but it wouldn't surprise me if they just pass on any secondary picks. So in conclusion, it'll be interesting to see if the Liberty try to trade up for anyone. Otherwise it's Avon and whoever we can get at #21, which just spitballing, might be Jayson Kearse or something, unless we've convinced someone to switch positions.

12. Sit Down With A Star:

For this year's installment, I interviewed Nate Swift, WR of the Yellowknife Wraiths. Following their loss in the Ultimus.

1. How hard was it to make it all the way to the Ultimus and come up short?
1) it was very hard, I’m not going to lie. I was so proud of all my guys for all the work they did in making us such a good team. After the past few seasons of playoff upsets, I thought we had made all the moves to put us over the top. But alas, we have a resilient bunch who is ready to get right after it again. We are working on making moves and adding the picks that should be the difference next season.

2. If you could've changed anything strategy wise before the game, what would it have been?
2) It’s easy to look back and blame myself for the strats we put in for the championship game. We unveiled a few new wrinkles that we thought would put us over the edge. I blame myself for maybe getting too cute with it, but in the end, we had a 75% win rate and they even only got to 33%. The odds were definitely in our favor, but you know what they say... Any Given Sunday.

3. Are you proud to have finished 12-3 overall? Who do you commend the most for the YKW season?
3) We are proud to finish 12-3. I know we always want to win them all, but with this sim, that is about as good a record you can ask for. It’s really hard to single anyone out for why we were so good, because the whole team dominated. Shady was awesome as my Co and leaf helped sim test. Fly joined as a free agent and immediately because a valued member of our team. Gritty has stuck with us through a lot. Crou had his best season ever. Cooter gonna cooter. PDX was a huge addition to our LR. Manicmav is the best member in the entire league and deserves most dedicated every season. Stamkos killed it this season. Murtsi and Leonard were very unselfish and played out of position to help us win.

4. What plans does YK have for this upcoming offseason?
4) This upcoming season we plan to get better and better and be back to win it all. End of story.

13. Sit down with a fan

This time I sat down with up-and-coming Baxter Frost, kicker for the Philadelphia Liberty.

1. Who do you think should win NSFL S18 RotY?
1) Well I would say myself obviously but, apparently my name isn't even on the voting ballot because I'm a kicker, so I'll have to say someone else. I understand that people think that Saba Donut should win, but I don't agree with that. Marcela Toriki quite literally carried her team even stopping them from getting 1oa. So final answer: Toriki

2. What player in the upcoming S19 draft do you think will make an immediate impact on their new team
2)I think Kanakothesquirrel aka Jordan Jackson will have the biggest Impact on her new team. Quite literally the best kicker in the DSFL, if she can continue on that pace to the NSFL her legacy will be complete.

3. What does Zach Hall smell like?
3) Well this may surprise many people, but the southern man named Zack Hall smells like... a mixture of roses and honey. It is quite a weird mixture but he makes it work out for himself.

4. The offseason is closing in and it can be a long slog. If you could any sort of new event to the offseason to keep things interesting, what would it be?
4) I would add a schoolhouse yard picking type of game, where two captains would be chosen to pick players for their team. Similar to a draft but with team captains. It would add a lot of intrigue for newer players and older players alike!

5. So like a pro bowl of sorts?
5) yeah I guess
but more friendlier with team captains instead of voting from fellow players

7) Next Year

Even though i am no longer part of the Tijuana Luchadores, my PT will be based on our playoff loss against the dirty san antonio marshals who are greatly inferior to the great Tijuana Luchadores. This rivalry goes way back to when I first joined NSFL almost two years ago so hopefully no one gets offended easily, even though I wouldnt put it past marshals to get offended easily. Just Kidding. Anyways, the Tijuana Luchadores are in prime condition to continue their dynasty next season under the leadership of DylanDeluxe and Fuzzy Dotson. The wall is stronger than ever and with Avon Blocksdale Jr. behind center for the next few seasons, the team will have a great offensive powerhouse for the league to worry about. The defense in Tijuana is also strong, although they will be likely losing their star linebacker Mack Arianlacher who I am a big fan of personally. If Tijuana gets their linebacker back for next season, look for Tijuana to have not only the best quarterback in the league, but also the best quarterback. And offensive line. Because everyone knows that building an offensive line results in an immediate improvement to your dynasty chances. True story. Trust me.

8) Draft Focus
Written: What areas of your team has the biggest holes that you are hoping get filled in the upcoming S19 draft? What round are you hoping it’s filled?

I think for the Coyotes to take the next step, the team right off the bat needs more time to develop. Obviously, this isn’t really an option for teams in the DSFL as the whole idea is to move up to the NSFL. Still though, I think that this team would look a lot different with some more experience in certain areas. Brock has all the tools to be an amazing quarterback, but there were times where his youth showed this year. If you could take a year to Brock Phoenix with the S18 Coyotes, they easily win at least 1 or 2 more regular season games. As far as drafting goes, the secondary needs more help. They surrendered the most yards per game through the air. There were a couple factors that lead to this but addressing this issue should be at the top of list. Their top prospect Mason Blaylock is looking at going in the first round of the NSFL draft this week, but it is unknown whether he gets the call up right away or continues to build his craft at the DSFL level. The team could also use a good coverage linebacker for similar reasons. The pass and rush defense were both strengths this season, but they could use one young front defensive lineman, but that could be filled later on. Offensively, the team has it fair share of weapons but most might be moving on very soon. Orien Drake seems poised to move up to the NSFL next season. Rayne Gordon is looking at being a first round selection and might find himself playing a WR role with his new squad as well. It will be important for Kansas City to find their replacements as well.

13) Sit-down with a fan:
Written: Answer questions for an interview from a player that is not your own. You must answer at least four questions and at least three must relate to the league in some way. Link to the interviewers PT to receive credit.

Jay: What expectations did you have for yourself this season? Do you think you lived up to them?

Isa: Honestly I just wanted to take my time and adjust the league. I figured if I could have some impact to help my team, I would be happy. We ended up having a better record than the season before, so I feel like I completed that goal pretty well.

Jay: What was the defining moment of the season for you as a player and as a team?

Isa: Man, the defining moment for me as a player was just getting drafted to New Orleans. Honestly I came from a background in the DSFL without a team that had a real locker room or a ton of communication. Getting into New Orleans and finding out what it was like to be in a real locker room full of players who were excited to have me there was incredible. I haven't looked back and now New Orleans has my heart forever.

Jay: How has had the biggest influence on your career thus far?

Isa: I don't know that I could just name one player to be honest. For my first season, it was absolutely Woelker. Woelker was probably the single most helpful guy for me when it came to learning how the league works and adjusting to the system my first season. He was always there when I had questions and was always willing to dig for answers. For my first season in the NSFL, it would have to be TomHanks. The moment I got to New Orleans, Hanks took me under his shoulder and he's really helped my development in this league since to. He's the person I talk to the most these days because of it. Absolutely fantastic guys, both of them.

Jay: What can we expect from Bjorn moving forward?

Isa: Going forward I think you can expect Bjorn to give his 100%. I'm always looking to get better, I'm always looking to take that next step. I expect myself to always be making an impact both on and off the field and ultimately my goal is 10 sacks a season. If I can hit that this run, I'll be overwhelmingly happy. But I'll never slack on my off the field duties and continue working to make this league and New Orleans a better place in the process. That's what you can expect from Bjorn.

14) That Magic Moment
Writen: Pick one moment from a playoff game and describe what made it so amazing to watch.

I think my favorite moment of the S18 playoffs was Mathias Hanyadi’s 78 yard touchdown run at the end of the 3rd quarter in the conference championship game against Tijuana. What I liked most about that moment was really the way the game had been leading up to it. The flow of the game had been a defensive grind. Tijuana scored early and then both teams had little success other than a couple field goals. Most drives found themselves shut down and it turned into a punt fest. On the whole, The Marshals and Luchadores went a combined 8 for 30 on 3rd down. That’s why Hanyadi’s run was so amazing to me. Tijuana had just missed a field goal from only 39 yards out. Not expecting any big plays to happen at this point in the game makes total sense. The 78 yard run helped tie up the game that had never felt out of hand for San Antonio, but it felt like they were playing from behind the whole game. In a matter of two plays, there was a 10 point swing. All moment shifted to the Marshals and you could tell that they really felt they could win it. I have only watched one season worth of playoffs, but I have to say that this moment is my favorite playoff memory so far.

15) Going to Disneyland!
Written: Who was the Ultimus MVP? Give us a rundown of their celebratory trip to Disneyland, or describe how they celebrated.

Lanzer Grevious, the Defensive Player of the Game, would be ready for the celebrations (again). First off, with the team residing in Orange County, I can imagine that Lanzer would not choose to do Disneyland over Disney World. It’s close by and not to mention inferior. Instead, he would prefer to spend his time where the magic originated in the OG Disney World. He would spend a day in every park because why wouldn’t he? His favorite ride while there is probably Splash Mountain. He would proceed to ride it 17 times in a row. Each time after the big drop he lets everyone around him know that he makes big Splashes on the football field. Naturally, everyone then recognizes him and asks for his autograph. Later that night, he attends the Magic Kingdom fireworks show. He feels like he is truly king of the world. During the middle of the show, the music suddenly switches to a more upbeat Rock sound. It catches everyone off guard, including Grevious. They project his 2 sacks from the Ultimus on the castle and the crowd goes wild. There are some grumblings in the crowd from a few Wraiths fans, but they aren’t overly noticeable. A small spotlight shines on Grevious and he gives a big smile and waves to everyone. This was truly a magical moment.

S18 ULTIMUS WEEK!!! - AlexF - 11-19-2019

Task 1: PBE

Task 7 (New Year):
My new team the New Orleans Second Line are looking to make the playoffs next season by virtue of some key free agent pickups in the outfield along with a very good defense. As a defensive lineman I'm looking to stuff the run as much as possible next season. That's really where I feel like our strength will be going into next season; the defense. For the most part this season our defense was amazing, but we got unlucky with offensive production that cost us quite a few wins. We very well could have won our division as early as week 10, but due to some rough offensive play we ended up missing the playoffs entirely. While I feel the offense did have a pretty big part in it, the defense also wasn't perfect. There were a few games where we gave up way too many points. I'm a huge proponent of the Tampa 2 style bend don't break defense, but as a defensive lineman there's only so much I can do in that regard. My job is to stuff the offensive line and cause the QB to be as uncomfortable in the pocket as possible. Hopefully next season we can all do better and prove that we're the best team in the NSFL.

Task 8 (Draft Focus):
As I mentioned above I feel like our team is already very good. Having said that, I do believe we can use some youth in our front 7. Specifically the linebacker position. There is a specific player I have in mind that I hope ends up being my teammate for many years to come and that is Mack Arianlacher. Oddly enough he reminds me of myself when I entered the league. In case anyone forgot I actually started my DSFL and NSFL career as a middle linebacker, though due to misuse by Chicago I lost my love of the game and decided to move to the defensive line upon being traded from Chicago to New Orleans with a detour through Austin. Back to Mack though; I expect him to be an absolute beast middle linebacker for any team he gets drafted to, and I definitely hope it's us in New Orleans. He's already proven himself to be a tackling machine in the DSFL with over 90 tackles in his first season. I expect him to break the 100 mark next season if he ends up staying down another season. And it won't be too long before he's terrorizing the middle of the field in the NSFL. I'm looking forward to it.

Task 11 (Trades):
Let's see...who was traded recently from the team who drafted them only for them to be traded again to a different team only a few days later? Oh yeah, that was me. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions. Ultimately it was a great thing for my football career to be traded from Chicago. As a member of the Butchers I had lost my love for the game of football due to the management using me out of my natural position without notifying me that the change would be happening. I'll be honest, when I was made aware that I was traded (by someone other than the Chicago GM by the way), I was ecstatic. During the draft I was either going to Chicago or Austin, so I was ready to start fresh as a Copperhead. Unfortunately for me (at the time), I learned a few days later that I again had been traded without my knowledge to another team. Fortunately for me, that team ended up being the New Orleans Second Line. Immediately when I arrived to the locker room I was greeted by everyone and honestly it felt like I had finally found my NSFL home. Shortly after we discussed a contract extension and the possibility of me changing positions, which I agreed to. So far my time in New Orleans has been nothing short of great, and I look forward to the next few years. Who knows where I might end up after that. I might even be traded another 6 times, but due to my no trade clause to Austin and Chicago, it definitely won't be there again!

1) Sit-Down with a Fan:
Interview with ValorX77

2) Sit-Down with a Star:
I interviewed @ValorX77

Obviously it was an unexpected loss in the Ultimus for Yellowknife. You initially mentioned retirement and/or demanding a trade. What was it that made you feel like you needed a new start?
Quote:The reason I requested a trade from Yellowknife is that the team’s culture did not match my style, because I’m more of a conservative feel on the league, but I can’t seem to define the Wraiths as a liberal feel, because they seem to be a little passive, but in the end, I just was sick and tired of the playoff failure.
Initially you had a pretty adverse reaction to being traded to Chicago. Why was that, and what changed your mind?
Quote:The reason I started the hold out was because I was confused on where I was, because I was shocked of the trade and I originally thought I was betrayed by my former team, my mind changed when I was hired as the co-gm of Chicago.
What are you most excited about transitioning to Chicago?
Quote:I’m looking forward to the transformation of the locker room, it’s currently dead besides low quality memes and weeb stuff, in which is a bad look for us as a franchise and as a Co-gm.
Do you feel like Chicago is facing something of a rebuild after failing to make the playoffs last season or do you believe you guys can right the ship this season?
Quote:The current state of Chicago is literally a crossroads, we have a base side of the roster we’re gonna use, but we need the activity of some of new people in this draft class or whoever we acquire by trades or in free agency to open up their ideas for a better experience, and make this more of a team effort and make the locker room great.

Trades
I'm not sure if this is exactly in line with the rules of this task, but I wanted to re-examine the Sunnycursed trade that we made before the prior deadline. Obviously Sunnycursed re-signed with Baltimore and had a great season for them, helping the Hawks lock up the two-seed in the NSFC. On the flip-side of the deal, we received Baltimore's first round pick in the S18 draft, and were able to grab Korrin Abernathy in that spot. Hugely important there was actually the fact that we beat the Hawks in the Ultimus, as our pick swap with Austin slotted them just behind us. We knew Austin was after Abernathy, so that win and the trade secured a player for us who has obviously been huge, already working as my co-gm. He also became a steady presence for us at the cornerback position late in the season, giving our defense a little more flexibility. He's only going to continue to get better, too. So that deal really - thanks to a whole lot of luck - was absolutely massive for us. Somehow we found our way to an Ultimus win afterward, got a great player in the draft, and then he helped us to repeat this season. Couldn't be happier with how that played out.

Unsung Hero
