RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - StadiumGambler - 07-28-2022 I feel like my player, Saleem Spence, would not be an adequate choice as a General Manager. So instead, lets spend this PT talking about why the Sailfish management core is just fine and does not need to be replaced: During Saleem Spence's eight seasons with the Sailfish, seven of them have been winning seasons resulting in a playoff berth, with one ring. Only the Arizona Outlaws have gone better than 7-for-8 in terms of playoff appearances over that time, and they do not have a ring to show for it. Sarasota has a managerial culture that enables marquee free agent signings like Nick Kaepercolin and Jackson Kingston to land in their laps, and the drafting seems to hit every year, with defenders exiting out, and then being replaced with rookies developing quickly to fill the holes. Tactically, Sarasota makes the best out of what they've got, and vary from a hard-running team to the current S-air-asota show thats led to Carter Knight being a MVP-caliber Quarterback. Overall, I've got no beef with Sarasota's management decisions, and think no one should be replacing them unless its people of equivalent caliber, which Spence is not. RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - sarah - 07-28-2022 pbe pt RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - Talls - 07-28-2022 Nick Flint has all the capabilities to be a general manager in the International Simulation Football League. In a different universe, he was a general manager for a professional hockey team and did a decent job at turning it around. Flint is great with players and bringing them on board to create a winning culture full of opportunities to succeed. He knows what he knows and does not know. He knows how to rely on other members of the coaching staff to really help the team progress and to make up for his own pitfalls. The politics part of things is where things get hairy. Earlier on in his career, Flint was a big partier and made a lot of enemies from people who did not understand how he is as a person. Thankfully, a lot of time has passed and maybe the league is ready to give him a chance at creating a winning team. I would never ask a player under me to do anything that I wouldn’t be willing to do myself to ensure a victory for the team. As far as accomplishments go there’s really only one main goal. To win the championship at the end of the year. But I do believe that if everyone works hard you will see them win awards for individual excellence as well. That being said playing for London has given me a chance to learn from two of the better GM’s in the DSFL. (102) RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - Ulaire - 07-29-2022 I have plans of probably becoming a GM somewhere in my career. I think I will make a pretty good GM cause I think I deal with people pretty well, and can be a positive presence and influence in the locker room. But main reason why I want to become a GM is my interest in sim engine. I plan to study it extensively before applying for position sometime in the future. Breaking down sim efficiencies and finding some min maxing patterns was always interesting for me in Football Manager. I've built some good tactics there by myself, and feel like with some time I can do the same for DDSF. What else can I bring to the table? Well, I'm not sure but I should probably do good in scouting, cause I actually thought about getting rookie mentor role, when it will become open. This will definitely help me to get a feeling of incoming rookies. RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - PDXBaller - 07-29-2022 It’s been quite a while since Raashad Brooks graced the ISFL with his presence but now is the time for a big return. Brooks’ knowledge of the game and ability to connect with players would help him be a great GM in the new era of ISFL football. The game may have changed but Brooks is a quick study and would be able to learn this new style of football quickly while focusing on developing a solid team in either ISFL or DSFL. He’s got a proven history of being a champion in both leagues and has made a lasting impression on many modern GMs who can trace their coaching lineage to his style of high flying and passing offense. If given the chance, Brooks may be able to help even as an assistant GM or coach for a team that’s looking to make a final push in the playoffs as well with his leadership and mentorship. Either way, he’s happy to be back and involved in the league in any form. RE: (S36) PT 5 - Election Season - Troen - 07-29-2022 Prompt Wrote:With the playoffs right around the corner, every team is no doubt giving it their all to make that final push towards securing a spot and having a shot at playing in the big game. With this no doubt being such an important time for teams to keep focused, it clearly seems like the best time to hold a campaign for your team's next GM! For this PT, write about why you or your player would make for a fantastic GM and what they'd seek to accomplish as one. For current GMs, write a convincing pitch about why you or your GM character should remain GM. Feel free to be as serious or silly about this as you want! I would not make a good GM due to not making enough time for it. My impression of the GM position is that it requires a lot of work - roster planning, contract negotiations, scouting, game strategy, trade discussions, team assistance, morale monitoring, and probably way more behind the scenes I don't even know about. I absolutely don't have enough time for the ISFL to be able to do that. Sure, some of the various tasks can be delegated, shared with the other GM, and so on, but someone still needs to make final decisions, roll up and assess gathered data, distribute tasks, and keep an overall eye on everything. All that is a hefty minimum requirement. A lot of the relationship and trade stuff I assume also requires being around and talking with the other GMs on discord often and at all kinds of hours. As someone not interested in having discord pinging my phone when I'm not at a computer, I think I have the wrong mentality to be the most effective GM. Just remaining a player (and occasional media writer) instead is much more my speed.
