As far as statistics, I can upload a CSV extract of stats from the simulator into a database and pump out a stat when people request it. Then after time make a more robust system that user can pull comparisons and whatnot. Just a thought.

Thank you everyone who has posted their ideas and been part of this discussion. Changes are coming, and are being discussed right now in the Head Office as well as the Media Graders area and the Player Progression Team area.

I demand 5s for all my graphics

So with all these ideas will there be a certain path to go from my current TPE of 52 (after this update) to somewhat respectable ahead of the draft? I mean, spending money for training is one thing however are these opportunities going to be enough so we aren't behind the S1 guys specifically if they go inactive ect?

I mean, S2 should be behind the majority of S1 until close to or after the draft. You are considered a full season behind us and you'll hit regression a full season after us, despite the extra TPE you're earning from now until the draft.

Just having the data readily available in a flat file would be nice to start.

I planned to do a stats analysis media piece this week but it takes way too long to gather the information, let alone analyse it.

...I don't have any input on anything else tbh.

Interesting stuff. I can't say I expect you to suddenly change to a VHL/SBA style system though fwiw I do prefer them. I can echo a lot of the statements about increased media payouts. People complain that a league like SBA is more work to make a good player but to me a 500 word article once a week for 6 TPE is MUCH easier than earning enough money to train for 3 TPE a week here.

I think there's lots to be learned here.

Just wanted to say that I'm totally against regression. Nothing frustrates me more in console sports games than having weeks if not months of work go down the drain when I start dropping key stats at 10x the rate I ever earnt them.

Obviously you can't have people play forever, but I think it would be more conducive to having people stay if there was a set age for every position and you had to retire then, but there was no regression prior.

Following on from my last comment, here's my idea:
  • Every position has a set maximum age
  • The TPE earning opportunities should be structured so that people in that position can max out their player at 50-60% of that age
  • This target should be set based on people participating in all available TPE opportunities each week, but not necessarily getting 100%. It should be participation-based. But if you do well, you're 'elite' and max out slightly faster
  • You then play the remainder of your career as an elite player
  • Within a few seasons on your player's set retirement age, you should be allowed to create a new rookie, so that you don't go from maxed out straight to starting from scratch. It would make the transition more fun and less of a shock. You could have story lines like a father-son combo on the same team, etc.
With all that said, I think people who are truly devoted to the league and their player should have some sort of edge, just as the students of the game in real life who live and breathe the NFL outperform others. Nothing so much that it will deter the casual players, but enough to warrant people spending more time here and contributing more than the average member.
