*An Early Look at the S12 Draft - ErMurazor - 01-02-2019

We are only halfway through a single season following the massive season 12 draft class that contained some of the most promising draft prospects and talent the league has seen in awhile. Lets do a look at where these players stand from a development standpoint over their first half of a rookie season. I will be using a pretty basic "eyeball" method to determine if teams made a sound pick or not, with some special emphasis on players that were selected well out of place based on the first 7 games.

[div align=\\\"center\\\"]
Pick Selected - Team Selected - Player Name - Position - User - TPE at Draft - Current TPE - TPE Gained - Status
1 - San Jose Sabercats - Freezer Riposte - DL - Mavfatha - 203 TPE - 347 TPE - 144 TPE - HIT!

2 - Baltimore Hawks - Errol Maddox - WR - Pigsnout - 248 TPE - 400 TPE - 152 TPE - HIT!

3 - Arizona Outlaws - Hike Mughes - DB - jaskins811 - 171 TPE - 272 TPE - 101 TPE - HIT!

4 - Philadelphia Liberty - Luke Smyles - DL - Symmetrik - 190 TPE - 288 TPE - 98 TPE - HIT!

5 - Colorado Yeti - James Bishop - WR - Bwestfield - 231 TPE - 379 TPE - 148 TPE - HIT!

6 - Orange County Otters - Thorian Skarsgard - LB - MrStennett - 173 TPE - 295 TPE - 122 TPE - HIT!

7 - Baltimore Hawks - Grayson Kuusela - DL - Wannabefinn - 162 TPE - 266 TPE - 104 TPE - HIT!

8 - New Orleans Second Line - Axel Hornbacher - DB - PDXballer - 194 TPE - 334 TPE - 140 TPE - HIT!

9 - San Jose Sabercats - Trey Staley - DB - ckroyal92 - 174 TPE - 304 TPE - 130 TPE - HIT!

10 - Yellowknife Wraiths - Dick Wizardry - RB - AdamS - 202 TPE - 365 TPE - 163 TPE - STEAL!

Dick Wizardry gets the first nod for steal of the draft class. Obviously a lot of running backs fell in this class because of just how deep the position was. However, since the day of the draft Dick Wizardry has earned more TPE than any other player in this class. Not only was he a top earner going into the draft, he has maintained that level of development and commitment.

11 - Arizona Outlaws - Arbin Asipi III - RB - DeathonReddit - 196 TPE - 349 TPE - 153 TPE - HIT!

12 - Colorado Yeti - Logan Lejune - LB - PSanchez55 - 164 TPE - 268 TPE - 104 TPE - HIT!

13 - Colorado Yeti - Beau Montgomery - LB - Dangles13 - 140 TPE - 253 TPE - 113 TPE - HIT!

14 - Colorado Yeti - Rylant Wright - WR - Raindelay - 146 TPE - 146 TPE - 0 TPE - A MISS!

Rylant Wright is an interesting player because he can still be seen practicing and training, but somehow he is not improving. He is the exact same player he was when he was drafted at the start of the season giving the Yeti the first miss of the list. There were some solid choices available here that have been putting in work and showing a commitment that has not appeared to be there for Rylant so far. Perhaps the young receiver has a some issues with the team he is on and may do well elsewhere.

15 - Baltimore Hawks - Charlie Trout - LB - iamslm22 - 196 TPE - 351 TPE - 155 TPE - HIT!

A quick mention that Charlie Trout would end up in the steal category, except that he could only be drafted by Baltimore due to his general manager status.

16 - Orange County Otters - Tommy Helanen - WR - StamkosFan - 126 TPE - 226 TPE - 100 TPE - HIT!

17 - San Jose Sabercats - Jorel Tuck - TE - ErMurazor - 136 TPE - 266 TPE - 130 TPE - HIT!

18 - Yellowknife Wraiths - Jeff Jefferson IV - DB - whatistheinternet - 139 TPE - 182 TPE - 43 TPE - A MISS!

Jeff Jefferson IV is another player that is going to end up in the miss category. There are quite a few players further down the list that have out earned Jefferson by a significant margin both since the draft and overall. Perhaps his position as a defensive back moved him too far up the boards, but the Wraiths could use some other defensive pieces and there were definitely pieces to be had.

19 - Arizona Outlaws - Raymond Vans - LB - karl - 95 TPE - 218 TPE - 123 TPE - STEAL!

The Arizona Outlaws snagged a great player a bit later in the draft with Raymond Vans. Vans has been putting in work to his development since the draft and looks like a fine talent that should shore up the Outlaws linebacker group for the future.

20 - Philadelphia Liberty - Ikaika Kalilmoku - DL - Wasty - 127 TPE - 189 TPE - 62 TPE - HIT!

21 - Colorado Yeti - Luke Boechler - QB - YoungGreekBoy - 225 TPE - 282 TPE - 57 TPE - HIT!

22 - Orange County Otters - Job Gott - LB - JR95 - 119 TPE - 148 TPE - 29 TPE - A MISS!

The Outlaws missed the mark taking Gott this early. At the time of the draft, I thought Gott was going to be a steal here but as of now it looks like many of us were wrong about Gott's potential. The Otters were looking to shore up their defense and there are quite a few players that are outpacing Gott since the draft that they could have snagged here.

23 - Baltimore Hawks - Aksel Danielsson - RB - JSS - 203 TPE - 311 TPE - 108 TPE - STEAL!

Aksel Danielsson is a player that dropped way too far making him one of the biggest steals of the draft. This was another player that fell primarily due to positional abundance. There are a lot of running backs in the league and not enough teams to give them all a bellcow role. Danielsson looks like he is going to keep on grinding to earn a spot regardless of the fact that every team passed on him several times.

24 - Philadelphia Liberty - Jonathan Towers - DB - supersquare04 - 120 TPE - 175 TPE - 55 TPE - HIT!

25 - San Jose Sabercats - Neo Donaldson - K/P - Mack - 123 TPE - 192 TPE - 69 TPE - HIT!

26 - Yellowknife Wraiths - Beauregard Smallwood-Chess - RB - 4D Chess - 110 TPE - 136 TPE - 26 TPE - A MISS!

Beauregard Smallwood-Chess was taken before several talented players that showed more potential before the draft and continued on those trajectories after it. One player that should definitely haunt the Outlaws after this pick is Fast Boija, who is outpacing Beauregard Smallwood-Chess since the draft and looks to be the better running back of those taken late.

27 - Arizona Outlaws - Roman Stakowski - TE - Shrodawg - 158 TPE - 227 TPE - 69 TPE - HIT!

28 - Baltimore Hawks - Derek Bohne - DB - wuma - 115 TPE - 180 TPE - 65 TPE - HIT!

29 - Colorado Yeti - Sam Garrad - DL - SammyG - 198 TPE - 249 TPE - 51 TPE - HIT!

30 - Orange County Otters - Tommy Salami - DL - TommySalami - 100 TPE - 155 TPE - 55 TPE - HIT!

31 - Philadelphia Liberty - Sam Hardwick - WR - ralams123 - 120 TPE - 249 TPE - 129 TPE - STEAL!

Sam Hardwick is looking to be like a steal for the Liberty after his development has really taken off following the draft. He is shaping up to be a potential top tier wide out and Philadelphia was able to secure his talents late in the draft. He has already passed Rylant Wright, the wide receiver taken in the second round of the draft.

32 - Yellowknife Wraiths - Pecker Cox - DL - duckberg - 56 TPE - 105 TPE - 49 TPE - A MISS!

The Wraiths looked to have put up another stinker selecting Pecker Cox here. Cox has not been a complete disappointment but there were several defensive line prospects available here that look like they are going to be better players than Cox. Ja'Brill Tuck and Stayve Jerome Thomas had better skill sets at the time of the draft and have only improved on them, while Cox and his inferior talents have tailed off.

33 - San Jose Sabercats - Ja'Brill Tuck - DL - Keyg_an - 118 TPE - 182 TPE - 64 TPE - HIT!

34 - Arizona Outlaws - Cole Walker - DL - Captaincup - 92 TPE - 99 TPE - 7 TPE - A MISS!

The Outlaws and the Cole Walker Pick is another one that is taking a hit simply because Stayve Jerome Thomas was literally snagged by the Second Line immediately after this pick. Thomas looked to be the better player at the time of the draft and has continued to improve since, while Walker has been almost completely absent on the developmental front.

35 - New Orleans Second Line - Stayve Jerome Thomas - DL - slimthugga - 81 TPE - 135 TPE - 54 TPE - HIT!

36 - Philadelphia Liberty - Fast Boija - RB - snussu - 109 TPE - 169 TPE - 60 TPE - HIT!

37 - Colorado Yeti - Soupy McBrain - LB - mcgriddleluver - 80 TPE - 114 TPE - 34 TPE - A Pick...

38 - Orange County Otters - Django Anoa'I - WR - tlk742 - 113 TPE - 130 TPE - 17 TPE - A Pick...

39 - Baltimore Hawks - Thomas Clark - DL - CoachEaux - 90 TPE - 125 TPE - 35 TPE - A Pick...

40 - New Orleans Second Line - Devon Baxter - WR - NCISagent1 - 125 TPE - 178 TPE - 53 TPE - HIT!

41 - San Jose Sabercats - Ronnie Williams - TE - KingRonald - 78 TPE - 124 TPE - 46 TPE - A Pick...

42 - Arizona Outlaws - Jeffery Murphy - DB - WALDO - 54 TPE - 123 TPE - 69 TPE - STEAL!

The Arizona Outlaws may have gotten the steal of the draft with Jerffery Murphy. Some of our misses from earlier in the draft were teams trying to get their hands on a coveted defensive back, while Murphy slipped all the way to pick 42. Murphy's commitment was definitely questionable leading up to the draft. However, after he was brought into the Outlaws facility has has started to show a great deal of promise and is looking like he will be a solid contributor down the road.

43 - Yellowknife Wraiths - Grayson Wayne - DB - Doctor Topher - 62 TPE - 62 TPE - 0 TPE - A Pick...

44 - Philadelphia Liberty - Krispy Kreme - WR - Hoeforest - 142 TPE - 178 TPE - 36 TPE - A Pick...

45 - Colorado Yeti - Joey Sachs - DL - jsachs - 81 TPE - 126 TPE - 45 TPE - HIT!

46 - Orange County Otters - Daniel Amon - QB - TheMemeMaestro - 61 TPE - 61 TPE - 0 TPE - A Pick...

47 - Baltimore Hawks - CJ Henderson - DB - Shaggy28 - 81 TPE - 81 TPE - 0 TPE - A Pick...

48 - New Orleans Second Line - James Wade - RB - hyreektill - 57 TPE - 57 TPE - 0 TPE - A Pick...

49 - San Jose Sabercats - Roderick Castleberry - K/P - Avakael - 52 TPE - 77 TPE - 25 TPE - A Pick...

50 - Yellowknife Wraiths - Thomas Nova - WR - AtomikaNova - 50 TPE - 50 TPE - 0 TPE - A Pick...

For a team that really needed a great draft, Yellowknife struggled mightily.

That is a good looking draft and no busts in Top 13 shows nice progress of GM's ability, though it was easier to scout with so many recreates.
