Hey, everyone. Nacho Varga here to answer all your pre-draft questions.
How do you feel your performance in the Prospect Bowl so far has impacted your draft stock?
I think I've shown I definitely have a future in this league. I've been able to contribute in the passing game, using my solid technique as a route-runner to be able to create separation. Tebow and Longshaw and our coach have done a nice job of getting me involved in the offense. I've also been able to contribute in the kick return game, showing I can use my speed to break off some long returns when given the opportunity. I've got a long way to go, but I'm putting in the work each week, and improving as a player. I think my draft stock has improved as a result.
Is there a particular team you wish to end up with?
I'd love to play for Palm Beach. I think their scheme fits well with my skill set, and I think I can contribute right away. I know they had some struggles last season, and I'd love to help them turn things around.
If you couldn't play wide receiver, what position would you play instead?
I would play cornerback. If I can't be out there catching passes and making plays, I want to be stopping other guys from doing it. I know how WRs think, and that would give me an advantage on defense.
Why did you choose to play WR?
I've played WR ever since high school. It's been a natural fit for me since day one, and I love the one-on-one battle with DBs every play. I think I can go toe to toe with any CB in this draft class, and I can't wait to make an impact in the DSFL.
Is there a particular WR that you'd like to model your career after (real or in the NSFL)?
Keenan Allen, for sure. I've watched and studied every snap of his career, and I want to emulate my game after his. His technique is impeccable, and he never takes a down off. He's got an extremely diverse route tree, and I'm working hard towards trying to be the player that he is.
What's your overall impression of the league so far? (out of character of course)
I'm really enjoying it so far! RPGs and fantasy football are two of my favorite things, so I'm loving the aspects of both in this. The guys in the Rookie Discord have been really helpful, which is really nice as it can be a bit overwhelming at first. Can't wait to get the season started!
