Old habits die hard, it seems, as Atlanta Blackbirds linebacker and future DSFL draftee Rock Hardshaft is in the middle of controversy again.
It is believed that the male talent in the erotic film Deep in the Dirty South is none other than Rock Hardshaft himself. While his face is never shown, there are some that believe the voice and...anatomy match that of the defensive standout.
"Did I shoot a porno while staying in Atlanta? Come on man, that doesn't sound like something that I would ever do," Rock had to say when questioned about the film.
Hardshaft has had a history with this exact thing, as his quality of play dropped in his Sr. year at Fresno State, and many believe it was due to the time spent shooting films of the same nature.
Whether or not this is true, it never seemed to have any effect on his production, as he led the Prospect Bowl in sacks (6) and was stand out player each time he stepped onto the field.
I asked Palm Beach Solar Bears GM, Chet Tannen, if he believed this would negatively effect Hardshaft's draft stock.
"If the rumors about Hardshaft are true, then I fully support him. Football is not a sport that you can play for the entirety of your life, but having sex on camera? Yeah you can do that your whole life...I hear there are pills for that (not that I would know personally). I think it's great that players are using their physical attributes in other ways and as long as it doesn't impact their performance on the field then it has no bearing on his draft stock from Palm Beach's perspective. Sling that ding-a-ling. Florida approved."
No other GMs were reached out to for comment.
It is, in this reporter's opinion, that while it may not be the most traditional way to spend your off time as a professional athlete, that Rock can do whatever he likes. As long as he lays the wood on the field as well as he, allegedly, lays it on camera, Rock should have a long career ahead of him.

You shot a porno while we were teammates?!? Unbelievable! How dare you. I thought we had a connection, a bond, forged in battle during the Prospect Bowl. And this is how you treat that bond? By not inviting me to the premiere of Deep in the Dirty South?
