If the Orange County Otters didn’t have enough to deal with involving quarterbacks, it seems that the running back situation has become complicated as well. Leroy Jenkins himself is not to blame, but his agent, Jason Ortega. On the night after the game, Jason awoke GM Andreas Hearst with multiple emails and voicemails demanding to speak with him about his client. It was his belief that Leroy was not getting the carries he deserved. And he did have a fair point, citing his 4.8 yards per carry in the preseason compared to Omar Wright, the starter, and his 3.5 ypc. While Omar has the higher yardage, he is also getting massive amounts more carries than Leroy. For the past two weeks, Wright has been handed the ball 36 times, tied for second most in the league. On the other hand, Leroy has only seen 17 touches. For a team that was highly believed to be a "2RB" team after it drafted two high quality backs, this is understandably concerning for Mr. Ortega. But when asked for a statement, Leroy Jenkins said that he would have a word with his agent, not his coach. It seems that this was not the sort of conduct he was interested in being associated with, but it has certainly brought up the right questions. There are reports that the coaches are working on a solution and there has even been an alleged quote from Omar Wright showing his support for his competitor and teammate, but this is all yet to be seen.
