Eye on the O-Line - dropbear - 06-16-2017

Through the first two weeks of the season, the offensive lines of the NSFL have held up surprisingly well, given the doom and gloom predictions of experts who believed the defenses would run riot. So far, 11 of the 18 total offensive linemen are yet to allow a sack. This would be no surprise to the big guys who backed themselves going into the draft, of course.

The standouts thus far are D'Brickashaw Ferugson (11 pancakes, 0 sacks), Daniel Robicheaux (11 pancakes, 0 sacks), Marcus Boyd (10 pancakes, 0 sacks) and Angus Winchester (9 pancakes, 0 sacks). Of that group, Ferguson is the only player not to concede a penalty. He has been the clear best in the regular season up to this point; this is no surprise, given he was a level above the other offensive line talent in the preseason as well.

However, despite his impressive overall showing through two weeks, was D'Brickashaw's the best performance of any offensive lineman in the league this week? Let's find out!

Anchor of the Week

When your team is embroiled in controversy, you need someone to stand up and say, "I'm still here to play football. I still want to win". This week for the embattled Otters, that was Marcus Boyd.

In a game where only two offensive TD's were scored, it would be easy to discount the efforts of the guys on the offensive line. You'd be forgiven for waving away their contributions based on QB Mike Boss' three-intercept game as well. However, if not for the herculean efforts of Boyd, and solid performances from his supporting cast on the O-Line, the offensive stats would have looked a lot worse for Orange County, and the result likely wouldn't have gone their way.

Putting in a 6-pancake night, without allowing a single sack or conceding any penalties, Boyd was a force to be reckoned with. He also helped clear the way for RB due Wright and Jenkins, as they racked up a combined 133 yards, averaging 4.59 yards each time their number was called.

The Otters were heavy favourites coming into the season, and with everything that has unfolded for the team since their year kicked off -- most notably the ongoing QB controversy and shock week 1 loss -- this win is likely to be a huge boost for them and take at least some weight off the shoulders of the management team.
