With week 4 in the books it's time to take a look and see how team defenses have been performing up until today. It's easy for anyone to go into the league index, check team defenses, and sort by sacks, TFLs, tackles, INTs, etc.
Doing that the Wraiths, Sabercats, and Yeti sure look to be scary defenses to face!

But is this the whole story? Of course not. While sacks stop drives and turnovers create opportunities, we also want to look at what the defense is actually giving up.
And that's where you have to dig a little deeper to pull your own numbers out.

Here we can see who is allowing the fewest yards through the air, on the ground, and who is letting their opponent into the endzone.
Orange County looks like the real force to be reckoned with that they were predicted to be post-draft. Allowed 16% fewer yards than the league average and tied for the fewest touchdowns allowed with Arizona they are wreaking havoc on opposing offensive coordinators.
In terms of yards allowed through the air you have Arizona, and then you have everyone else. Other teams can expect to walk out of this game with a yards per pass attempt average that is 20% below their usual amount, pointing to an elite secondary nobody seems to be noticing.
On the other side of the spectrum we have Baltimore. They are getting scorched through the air, on the ground, and letting everyone into the endzone. They'll need to come up with a new gameplan soon on defense if they expect to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth come postseason.
