Secondary Measures exists for the purpose of highlight defensive backs, whose performance is often hidden in the typical box score format. Other than Interceptions and Passes Defended, which quantify the outstanding plays a cornerback makes, there is no simple counting statistic that tells the full story. For example, say Player A's game stats were 3 Tackles, 0 PD, 0 Int and Player B's game stats were 7 Tackles, 1 PD, 0 Int. Player B looks better, the counting stats are higher! But that stat line doesn't tell you how many receptions each player gave up, or how many touchdowns. Player B defended a pass, but the receivers he was covering could have had amazing games.

What we do here is look at each play in which a corner was in pass coverage, to show what his impact on the field truly was.

Week 1 - at Palm Beach
1Q - 11:36 - Pass Complete to B. Daldwin - 9 Yards - *Forced Fumble* - *Fumble Recovery*
Purchase's first target of the season was certainly eventful. Daldwin makes the catch but Purchase punches it free and falls on it.

1Q - 2:17 - Pass Complete to B. Daldwin - 21 Yards
Daldwin outmuscles Purchase and breaks free.

1Q - 1:02 - Pass Complete to B. Daldwin - 4 Yards

2Q - 13:50 - Pass Incomplete intended for B. Daldwin
Tight coverage by Purchase. No window for Helmet

3Q - 14:49 - Pass Incomplete dropped by B. Daldwin

4Q - 10:37 - Pass Complete to B. Daldwin - 11 Yards

4Q - 7:47 - Pass Incomplete dropped by B. Daldwin

4Q - 6:25 - Pass Complete to B. Daldwin - 6 Yards
Purchase keeping everything short and in front of him at this point in the game

4Q - 5:28 - Pass Complete to B. Daldwin - 12 Yards

Summary
Traditional Stats: 5 Tackles, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery
Coverage Stats: 9 Targets - 22.5% Target Rate (Targets/Plays in Coverage), 6 Receptions, 63 Yards, 0 Touchdowns, 0 Interceptions, 86.8 Opp. QB Rating When Targeted
Analysis: With a large lead established early, Purchase seemed to play conservative, allowing shorter receptions in order to take away the big plays. Still not a superb game, as QB Helmet was more efficient when targeting Purchase than when focusing elsewhere.

Week 2 - vs Tijuana
1Q - 14:30 - Pass Incomplete dropped by J. Jackson

2Q - 12:16 - Pass Incomplete dropped by B. Rodriguez

3Q - 11:35 - Pass Incomplete intended for B. Rodriguez

3Q - 11:11 - Pass Complete to J. Jackson - 13 Yards

4Q - 5:29 - Pass Incomplete intended for B. Rodriguez - *Interception*
Purchase jumps the out route and almost takes it all the way, but is chased down at the 4 yard line

Summary
Traditional Stats: 1 Tackle, 1 Pass Defended, 1 Interception
Coverage Stats: 5 Targets - 20.8% Target Rate (Targets/Plays in Coverage), 1 Reception, 13 Yards, 0 Touchdowns, 1 Interception, 0.0 Opp. QB Rating When Targeted
Analysis: Pretty close to a perfect game. Purchase got lucky with a couple of drops early in the game, but allowed almost no production in coverage and added an interception for good measure.

Season Coverage Stats: 14 Targets - 21.9% Target Rate (Targets/Plays in Coverage), 7 Receptions, 76 Yards, 0 Touchdowns, 1 Interception, 36.0 Opp. QB Rating When Targeted
