*Thoroughfare to Glory (TTG) #4 - Opera_Phantom - 08-30-2019

Ladies and gentleman, welcome again to ESPNSFL. My name is Zerin Nandrews and this is episode number 4 of our “Thoroughfare to Glory” (TTG) saga, bringing you the life of Season 18 QB prospect, the “Portuguese Phenom”, Jay “Football” Cue.

We are now 4 games into the season and our star player is 4-0. The Portland Pythons have taken no prisoners in these first 4 games, averaging almost 36 points per game, while allowing only 7 points per game on defense. It looks like our star dealt with the problems he had during the prospect bowl with interceptions, and threw for 611 yards, with 4 TD’s and 2 Ints.

Dirk travelled to Portland, Oregon to catch up with Jay, to get an insight of these first 4 games from his perspective.

Dirk – Hey again Jay, it’s been a while
Jay – Good morning Dirk, thanks for being here.
Dirk – So, now 4 games into the season, how has it been?
Jay – It’s been pretty freaking great Dirk. Not perfect, obviously, but can I really complain about something when we are 4 – 0, with the type of numbers we’ve been doing? We’re leading the NFC North, putting up great numbers on offense and amazing ones at defense, so, no complaints here.
Dirk – Does it surprise you, being so dominant early on the season?
Jay – I cannot say it surprised me, but leading up to the first few games, you never know do you? You have an idea that your team is pretty good, by the looks of it on practice, but until you get your first competitive game, you have no idea how it is going to be. And even if you do well, the other team might be even better and blow us out of the park. So, we are all pretty happy with how the season has been developing so far.
Dirk – But I am going to guess that, after these 4 straight wins, there’s no way to not think about going all the way, right?
Jay – It goes through our mind for sure, like I believe it goes through the mind of every player in the DSFL, but we are aware of how difficult that is. So, we are dealing with one game at a time, the most senior players on the team are getting the rookies in check not to get overconfident with these results.
Dirk – Now focusing more on your stats, are you happy or we’re you expecting anything different?
Jay – I’m happy, but not ecstatic. Like I told you before, my main focus after the prospect bowl was to minimize my mistakes. And so far, it has been a decent effort, as I’m 4 TDs to 2 INts. Next step is to increase the percentage of completions, I am around 50%, so that the offense can be lethal. We have the weapons, but if we continue to improve on both sides of the ball, we can be unstoppable.
Dirk – Now that you speak about “both sides of the ball”, what about the Pythons defense this season?
Jay – It has been incredible to watch how they have been dominant. 4 games and 7.3 average points? That’s ridiculous. Well done D!
Dirk – Well, thanks for having us Jay and good luck for the next few games.
Jay – No problem Dirk, come back anytime!

And this is all the time we have for today, stay tuned for more interviews and information on our TTG. This was Zerin Nandrews, for ESPNSFL at the Portland Pythons training facility, goodbye, see you next time.
