Player Bio
Mathias Hanyadi was a two year starter at Excel High School, breaking several school records and leading the school to a state championship. He was considered the #6 running back prospect coming out of high school and ultimately chose UMass as his college of choice. As a true freshman, Hanyadi would only start one game, making a massive impact in that one game (30 Att-221 Yds, 3 touchdowns). He became the starter for the last three seasons during high school. In his final season at UMass, Hanyadi led the nation in running yards (341 Att-1588 Yds), being second in votes for the Doak Walker Award and fourth on the Heisman candidate list. Hanyadi was drafted in the 6th round by the San Antonio Marshals, as the 3rd running back off the board behind Marcella Toriki and Jake Utler. Hanyadi finished the season 4th in rushing yards with 1430, behind fellow San Antonio Marshal Ruff Ruff. Hanyadi would also score eight toughdowns on the season, tied 6th with rookie Orien Drake.

Analysis

By Chig Bungus, NSFL Analyst

Draft Projection: Late 3rd, Early 4th

NSFL Comparison: Ludicolo Bigby

Overview
Disciplined Runner with a good sense of space and a willingness to run for dirty yards. Able to operate well behind most blocking schemes and is not afraid of contact. Sometimes has trouble breaking through defenses, has a lack of long yardage plays in the DSFL. More likely to be good rather than great, but has some potential at the NSFL level if given time to develop.

Strengths
-Strong frame despite size, can handle a decent workload

-No-nonsense type of runner, doesn't try anything cute for potential yardage

-Strong burst, able to power through a hole if given the opportunity

-Able to follow his blocks through the play and get the designed yardage he should

-Not afraid of contact, willing to take hits for extra yardage

-Security of the football is elite, rarely if ever fumbles

-Good feel for space, generally knows where he needs to go for more yardage

-Low Amount of wear and tear due to sharing carries with Ruff Ruff

Weaknesses
-Rarely able to break away from the defense, struggles to gain long yardage

-Takes a while to get back up to full speed if forced to slow down

-Straight-line runner, rarely able to make linebackers and defensive backs miss

-Mediocre pass option, bad hands and only decent route running

-Can struggle running against blitz packages

-Mediocre in pass protection, struggles in blocking rushers

-Lacking short yardage vision, sometimes unable to find small holes in the defensive line

-Unknown if he can be the sole running back in an offense

Sources Tell Us
"He's a hard worker, for sure. He's willing to always grind it out in the weight room, on the practice field, every day he puts in 110%. You can't go wrong picking up this guy." -DSFL GM

"Smart man, really. Absolutely top character guy, hard worker, he had the right attitude every day while playing for us. Any NSFL team that picks him up won't regret it, I promise you." -Bobby Carter, UMass Football Coach

I love mathias as much as anyone but a 4.31 40 yard dash is a bit insane for that body type.

Welcome to completely arbitrary numbers! This is mostly just for fun, not an actual accurate draft report.
