Rugby star Ardie Savea has been picked up by the San Jose SaberCats. After a short discussion with team management they saw the move as mutually beneficial. Savea had previously been contacting teams to find interest in his talents and if a change in position would help with that. For now he says he is sticking with running back, which had been what he saw himself playing when he joined the league.
"I can't wait to get on the field for San Jose and compete at the higher level the NSFL provides. The prospect game was a lot of fun and it was great to get my first taste of competitive football but I think the NSFL will give me an even greater challenge. Hopefully showcasing my talents in this way will raise my draft stock as well. I'm stoked to get a chance to play for the SaberCats and I can't thank them enough for giving me this opportunity"
Savea had a short trip from Pomona where he had played in the first NSFL prospect game to get to San Jose. He has been seen checking out the sights and making himself comfortable in the city before the upcoming game at Orange County.

Do you feel like you'll have to convert positions next year or will you stay at RB for your career and try to get a starting position?

I'll have to discuss this with the team that drafts me, I'm open to changing positions if that's what is best for the team. Hopefully I'll be able to remain in San Jose where there is a spot for me at RB. Right now I'm just focused on finishing the season as best as I can for the SaberCats.
