[div align=\\\"center\\\"]UNT campus news caught up with graduating star Tash Thompson: [/div]

1) Tell me what it was like growing up with two older brothers who were also football stars? Did you feel like you had big shoes to fill?

Growing up with Tanner and Trey gave me great role models and they helped me fall in love with football. They were both quarterbacks which gave me the perfect opportunity to practice to become a wide receiver. I actually got to play alongside Tanner his senior year of high school which was a dream come true. They were competitive and supportive which made me look up to them in every aspect of life. I do feel though that since I play a different position than they did that I set the expectations for myself. No one ever compared me to them.

2) How was it juggling being a track star and a football star in high school?

It was easier than expected actually. I kept busy all year and I excelled in both sports. I actually received more offers to compete in track in college than I did for football. Running comes natural to me. I believe it is in my blood since my dad can keep up with all of his kids in a foot race. I would much rather run on a field than run in circles on a track.

3) How did your family feel about you declining all of the offers you received to compete in track at the college level?

They were so supportive! I could not have asked for a better family. While I only received one football offer, I felt like that was my chance to do what I love and possibly make a career out of it. My family backed me the whole way and even pushed me to go for football instead of track!

4) How did it feel to finally be able to prove yourself on the field at UNT?

My senior year was everything that I hoped for it to be. While I made a name for myself returning kicks, I came to play college football to be a wide receiver which is exactly what I got out of my last year there. Not only did I set records, I set records as a female.

5) Are you happy to be on the Grey Ducks this season in the DSFL?

I am stocked to be a Duck! I was hoping to get picked up by the Ducks or the Luchadores and I was not disappointed. This will be a great season and I am ready to prove myself out on the field. The game is always better when you are surrounded by good people. I am excited to get out on the field and do what I love. The Grey Ducks are going to put in work this season! MIN
