*Myrtle Beach Buccaneers S21 Draft review - Thor - 03-06-2020

After a huge DSFL draft I wanted to take the time to introduce everyone to the newest members of the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers. Please note the opinions stated in this media article are my own only, and do not represent those of the Buccaneers, any GMs or other individuals on the team.

#7 @[Colabear] - Johnny Hellzapoppin - S
A clear need after safety Prince Vegeta moved to the NSFL. Johnny stands out as a prospect who already has a league job and the centre fielder out of Notre Dame is arguably the best safety in the class.

#15 @[Troen] - Troen Egghands - DE
With defensive players leaving the board in a hurry, Myrtle Beach looks towards a strong edge presence from the speed rusher out of Fresno State to help anchor the defensive line opposite Larry Longshot.

#23 @[Billybolo53] Octavio Clemente - DT
Another big boy in the trenches for the Buccaneers, I expected this pick to be a cornerback - but instead we pick up an inside rusher from Florida to create an intimidating pass rushing defensive line to create pressure on the quarterback.

#35 @[Memento Mori] Brandon Booker - CB
Another pick to fill the spot of HeHateMe PickSix moving to the NSFL, with another player that has secured themselves a league job. Booker has big shoes to fill but the all around corner back from Arizona State is already making strides to be the best CB he can be.

#39 @[Feeler] Heath Evans - TE
With Leon McDavid moving up the Buccaneers needed a replacement here, with two of the three top TE prospects off the board they take no chances waiting another round and get their first offensive player in the fifth from UCLA. Evans is expected to fill the starting TE role for Myrtle Beach and has been seen training vigorously.

#47 @[Ayyylmao] Mark Radson - LB
This speed rushing linebacker put Myrtle Beach at the top of his teams opinion list and it appears the Buccaneers wanted him too. This pick from Alabama gives a second linebacker to pair with Trevor Mouseman to create more pressure.

#55 @[slacjr] Jimmy Cooks - S
Cooks makes the second safety to head to South Carolina in this draft and will be a solid pairing with Hellzapoppin as the Buccaneers look to recreate their no fly zone from the past season.

#59 @[NicholasTheGreat] Bruce Buckley - OL
Fair rubs! After a couple of OL leave the board in a short amount of time the Buccaneers make a move to get their man out of Australia. Off field issues involving a fight with a reporter, along with the fact that this untested prospect had never played a game of pads on football prior to the prospect bowl resulted in Buckley slipping on some boards but Myrtle Beach look past this to his natural talent and hope he will help solidify their fleet.

#71 @[ralams123] Jonathon Altidor - CB
With Dax Frost making the switch to RB Myrtle Beach need to fill their defensive backfield with almost entirely new prospects. The all around corner Altidor will most likely line up in the nickel behind veteran cornerback Scott and rookie cornerback Booker.

#79 @[Gwdjohnson] Garfield Despacito Jr. - WR
Despacito Jr. Is the second offensive skill player off the board and Myrtle Bay will expect big things from this speed receiver as a third option as he joins an experienced receiver corps of Sabor and Moore.

#87 @[ACEPATS] Jorcher Minor - OL
The addition of Minor brings a huge presence to the team and rounds out the Buccaneers offensive line. The prospect out of Virginia is expected to contribute right away alongside his fellow linemen, either in a relief role or a starting position.

#93 @[Kalakar] Kal Solarin - LB
This third linebacker would bring another pass rusher to an already fearsome front seven (or front 6 in the nickel). Except that it appears he is making the unusual switch to kicker! The flexibility of this player will ensure he sees significant usage through the season.

#103 @[Hater] Montgomery Mantooth - TE
The first depth pick of the draft, Mantooth is expected to reside behind Evans on the depth chart but seeing time in two tight end formations and may spend time at FB as his blocking abilities exceed those of the starter.

#111 @[wuhkuhh] Will-Barry Underground - DE
Another depth pick expected to be behind Longshot and Egghands as an edge rusher on the depth chart, there is a chance he could work his way into a starting role as the season progresses. Keep an eye on this pick!

#127 @[dahayn] Leeroy Jenkins - LB
With the vast amount of pass rushing talent across the defensive line, and with his coverage skills Jenkins will see some time at linebacker when the pass rushing linebackers come out of the game. As a depth player, Jenkins may be someone who looks to make an impact in a different role or position.

#135 @[jdourtled] Brendan Lanier - LB
It's hard being the fourth linebacker on a team, Lanier will certainly see special teams reps if nothing else. Another late flyer pick that could turn into a role player towards the end of the season. Again the balanced linebacker brings a different skillset to the table than the Buccaneers pass rushers and it will be interesting to see how he will be utilised as he may be another candidate to consider for a new role.

#136 @[Apollo] J.B Apollo - RB
The backup and apparent heir to the throne of Dax Frost, Apollo will see reps to spell Frost as his backup and may see goal line touches as an all around bigger back.

#143 @[popop123] Jimmy Frackerson - DE
This earth shaking prospect will have to drill down to make a crack at this league. I'm not going to spend a lot of time gassing him up, but this power rusher brings another element to the defense that's not seen all too often by offensive linemen.

#144 @[Embrace_Fitz_magic39] Rico Martinez - CB
Martinez is a unique prospect, as the fourth cornerback in the locker room he will provide relief to the starters - this zone defender gets to stay on in South Carolina after playing for the "other" USC. The only knock on this guy is he has low top end speed that may see him struggle on fast receivers.

#151 @[Superpig] - Silas Meissner - S
As the Buccaneers look to provide relief to Cooks and Hellzapoppin they select Meissner to try and fill that role. Though he had not been seen in the days leading up to the draft, Silas was spotted at the Myrtle Beach training facility and has reported to training camp. If Cooks slacks off we may see Meissner move into a starting role as the season progresses.

#152 @[Hydrojason] Jason Kruescher - LB
The balanced linebacker out of Wisconsin hasn't yet shown up to training camp, though he was seen milling about in the carpark. Perhaps he is unsure of his role as he has been placed 5th on the depth chart. An increase in practice and training activity would be the best benefit to moving up the depth chart and seeing more playing time. A position change may also be worth considering upon his return to move into a more in demand role.

#159 @[Cdoubleu] - Hengwei Luo - S
Luo comes to us from Malaysia via Florida Atlantic, and as the fourth safety on the roster he has some ground to cover before making a significant impact on the Buccaneers roster. Hengwei has been spotted in the Myrtle Beach looker room but has not yet reported to training camp.

#167 @[Moooooose] Streetlamp LeMoose - RB
Another late round depth pick, Streetlamp will serve as the third back on the depth chart behind Frost and Apollo. The Running back has been noted as AWOL and hasn't been seen since February but is expected to contribute upon his return.

#175 @[balakae8] A-Aron Balakae - S
Safety first is the motto of Myrtle Beach as they select a fifth (but not final!) Safety to contribute to their defensive backfield. He could leapfrog up the depth chart with efforts towards training or may consider switching roles.

#183 @[boshjailey] Jay Signs - CB
The promising man corner out of the University of Kentucky has unfortunately not reported to training camp and has not been sighted in the looker room. Though his speed and talents are a better fit for the backup role than those of Martinez, unless he reports it is hard to see how he will develop further into a bigger role.

#191 @[Dilios] Matthew Curran - DT
Curran was a huge nose tackle presence in the centre of the line at Boston College, and is expected to serve in a backup role to provide relief to new star prospect Clemente. He is yet to show up in Myrtle Beach but could make an impact upon his arrival.

#199 @[Btultz06] Ike Oscar - TE
Oscar may not see much field time as it stands currently, but with the Buccaneers waiting for backup tight end Montgomery Mantooth to show up in the locker room, the tight end out of Michigan State could develop into a solid option behind Evans as well.

#207 @[Earsofthewolf] Denarius Krackle - DT
Another option as the backup DT behind Clemente, Krackle also has not reported to training camp at this stage. The balanced defensive tackle out of the American University of Rome could look to take the second position on the depth chart from Curran with little development.

#215 @[Penbleezy] Bobby Black - WR
Bobby is another late round flyer pick, a speed receiver out of Nebraska. The Buccaneers take a chance on Black here as many have speculated he may have been the victim of gang violence. Black has not been seen since declaring for the draft.

#223 @[YVNGREED] Patrick Hardy - S

Better safe than sorry, the Buccaneers take another safety in the late round. At this stage we can see that Myrtle beach are divesting in their backup options to try and find a diamond in the rough. Hardy is a playmaker out of Michigan State where he was roommates with Ike Oscar - so the Buccaneers hope this pairing may again work together, even if they're riding the pine side by side.

#231 @[senseichen] Bryant Moreland - WR
Very little is known about this elusive prospect out of California State, Bakersfield. He has reported for the draft but we can't find any further info about the route runner. Will play a backup role in tandem with Bobby Black.

#239 @[that_guy_you_kno] Justice Wolfe - DE
Amongst the unknown picks late in the draft we find Justice Wolfe, the run stopping defensive end out of Ole Miss makes the fifth end for the Buccaneers in this draft. Wolfe has been seen in the Myrtle Bay locker room and may have the potential to claim the backup role from Underground with a bit of training.

#247 @[AverageHero] Dan Jackson - S
Dan Jackson may fancy himself an average hero, but the safety out of Iowa State must be using his secret identity because we couldn't find out anything about this playmaker. As the seventh safety on the roster, Jackson will want to consider a position swap to see more playing time should he put his super suit back on again.

#255 @[ronan] Ronan McDonagh - K/P
McDonagh is an unknown kicker prospect out of NUIG that the Buccaneers take a chance on, with Solarin looking at a switch to kicker Ronan will be in for a tough competition to earn a starting spot.

#262 @[NoahFinn] Anthony Brewer - DE
The final defensive player to head to Myrtle Beach, Brewer is a power rusher out of the University of Texas and has already been eagerly seen chatting with other team mates in the Buccaneers looker room - if Underground or Wolfe don't put the effort in look for Brewer to step into their role without hesitation.

#271 @[NamelessNate] - Tom Sofa - QB
Seal of the draft by a mile if things continue the way they've begun. The gunslinger out of Kentucky and last overall pick of the draft has been instantly active within the Buccaneers looker room, is training hard and even preparing media to help make him the most relevant Mr. Irrelevant ever to be drafted in the DSFL.

Any other teams that would like a draft review only have to go back in time and draft me.
