*How covid-19 affects my daily life - cho1325 - 03-23-2020

As many of you know the world has seen a new pandemic called the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for short. Because of this virus many states have gone into lockdown and all major sports besides the NSFL has been suspended. Why? Because the virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another. Within about 6 feet through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Despite this rampant disease the NSLF is still in session and I just wanted to give an in depth view of how it has affected my life so far this season.

For starters, the most obvious thing that we notice is that the stands are empty in games. Because of the chance of spreading in highly populated areas is certain many fans have elected to stay in and watch the NSFL from home either by tv or internet streaming services. I personally watch from my computer when I have the chance. Now because most people are staying at home the next thing I notice is the commute has far less traffic then before. I can easily get to my facility or get to my local grocery store pretty quickly without any stop and go traffic which is great. The downside to that is the grocery stores are running out of stock on the most random things. These include items like toilet paper, bottled water, and eggs. Why are people hoarding toilet paper when this is a respiratory disease I will never fully understand, but it makes me sad that people are willing to try to profit off of others during a crisis like this. Another odd item that is out of stock are freezers too since everyone is stocking up on frozen food thinking this is going to be the next apocalypse.
Despite all of this the NSFL has taken some steps to protect its players. For one if the players feel sick we are encouraged to stay home until we heal. Second the amount of people at practice is now halved. Pretty much offense in the morning and defense in the afternoons, this is switched around every day. Gym facilities are open but limited to no more than 12 people and gym equipment must be wiped down. The gyms have disinfectant spray bottles everywhere so it doesn’t take too long to wipe down and dry. The downside to this all is my nightlife. Usually after a long day of practice I like to either hit the club or go to a bar but because most restaurants are take out only I have no need to go anymore since all I wanted was social interaction. This virus kills all social interaction and makes it pretty lame that most people have to stay in their homes. So nowadays I just head home and study film or play a few games and call friends and family.

Lately I have been hearing rumors that the NSFL may suspend their season but let’s hope that’s all it is a rumor. Stay safe all the last thing we want is to spread this to the elderly and people with underlying health conditions. Stay home and wash your hands and wait for this to pass.
