*Dallas Birddogs Playoff Push Bolstered by Defense - howsour - 03-27-2020

With only four weeks remaining in the DSFL regular season, the playoff race is heating up. Following a three game winning streak, the Dallas Birddogs find themselves within striking distance of a playoff appearance in their first season of operation. This seems like a small miracle after Dallas was sitting at 2-5 following their Week 7 loss to the Norfolk Seawolves. However, managers Gucci and Kyle were able to galvanize the team and turn the season around.

“We could see the team getting better every week and knew that we would start getting good results” said utility runningback White Goodman when asked about the turnaround. “All credit for the winning streak goes to the defense, it starts with them. I’m just happy we can make enough plays to put enough points of the board for that W” stated Kichwa Jones, another RBBC mate in Dallas.

Jones makes a great point, over the last 4 weeks; the Birddogs’ defense has allowed opponents to a league leading 15.25 point per game. The Dallas Defense has also recorded 9 sacks, 2 safeties, and 2 interceptions over those past 4 games, establishing a dominant presence in the DSFL. Team sources have suggested that the defensive improvement was a result of DT Big Edd’s request to be traded a couple weeks ago. “We wanted to prove that he should stay here” I was told by a source on the Dallas defense that preferred to remain anonymous.

However, the Dallas Birddogs face a tough task in their final four games of the season. They start the stretch away at Kansas City who boasts the best record in the DSFL at 7-3 behind QB Fujiwara and an explosive offense with WR Jeeta and RB Nova/ Fakon who promise to put the Birddogs defense to the test after putting up 47 points on the Birddogs at home in Week 4. Week 12, the Birddogs are on the road again at Myrtle Beach who is currently leading the DSFL South. This is a make or break game for the Birddogs who need conference wins to in order to solidify their place in the playoffs in the event of a tied record. The Buccaneers will certainly be looking for revenge after losing to the Birddogs in their first matchup of the season. Week 13 sees that Birddogs face the Portland Pythons at home. Dallas will certainly be looking for revenge as they lost by a narrow margin in Week 6. The Pythons are a hot team, winning the last 3 of 5 games. The final game of the season for the Birddogs will be at home against the Norfolk Seawolves. Norfolk currently sits at last in the South, but will prove a tough matchup as the Birddogs lost a close game away in Week 7.

The Dallas Birddogs are hoping to win 3 of their last 4 games to clinch a playoff spot and compete for the Ultimini in their first season.
