*League Name Change Poll Results - Memento Mori - 03-30-2020 A couple days ago, I set up a poll about the issue everyone's been talking about over the last few days. The Chicago Butchers The NSFL's name. 33 people responded - I considered sharing it around a bit more to try to get more responses but given there's been votes to change the name at rules summits before, I just wanted to raise the issue again with some backing. 28 people said the NSFL should change it's name (84.8%) 1 person said no (3%) 4 people said they didn't know (12.1%) 22 people responded to the second (optional) question asking if they liked a specific name. Some people mentioned more than one, so the number of people backing each one will add up to more than 22. International Simulation Football League (ISFL): 10 Simulation Football League (SFL): 2 World Simulation Football League (WSFL): 2 Alliance of Simulation Football (ASF): 1 American Simulation Football League (ASFL): 1 Global Simulation Football League (GSFL): 1 Gridiron Simulation Football League (GSFL): 1 International Simulation Gridiron League (ISGL): 1 National Association of Simulated Football (NASF): 1 National Football Simulation League (NFSL): 1 National Sim Football Federation (NSFF): 1 Simulated American Football League (SAFL): 1 Simulated International Football League (SIFL): 1 Ultimate Sim Football Association (USFA): 1 Ultimate Sim Football Federation (USFF): 1 World Simulation Football League of America (WSFLA): 1 A lot of the suggestions are quite similar, so there's not necessarily a clear mandate for a particular name. The most popular suggestions all end 'SFL', though, perhaps because that would reduce the amount of rebranding involved (the DSFL could keep it's name and logos etc. the same) or because drastically changing the name might be more controversial. There was some discussion in the thread about how simple it'd be to go through with a name change, with some claiming it'd be simple while others thought there'd be more work involved. Given the fact the response was overwhelmingly yes, and that it's an issue that's been brought up a number of times, I think there's a mandate to task HO with assessing how much work/effort/time it'd take to go through with a name change. Seeing as they're currently trying to sort out the mess in Chicago I won't raise this with them now, but I thought I'd type up the results before I forgot I'd made the poll.
