*Forty's Mock Expansion Draft - Forty Jordy - 04-01-2020 This will be the first part of my expansion plus NSFL (you can thank me below for not writing out the entire acronym every time) mock draft. I felt like I needed to mock the expansion draft before I felt like I could give an accurate NSFL mock draft. This first part will cover teams’ protection lists as well as the expansion picks. I will follow up this media piece with a mock draft that continues from these expansion picks. Protection Lists Baltimore Duillio05 (Walt Green) – Safety - S15 - 1276 TPE CalvinP (Logan Uchicha) – Safety – S15 - 867 TPE NylarthePhoenix (Apollo Reed) – Running Back - S15 - 806 TPE Sermokala (Fabricio Baldari) – Defensive End – S18 - 599 TPE Ry_ (Darrel Williams) – Running Back – S20 – 545 TPE Dewalt27 (Asher Quinn) – Wide Receiver – S18 – 502 TPE Jepox (Juan Marston) – Cornerback – S18 – 395 TPE Baltimore does not have a lot of max earners and will be able to protect all of their active players who are not deep into regression. The exception is of course Raven (Corvo Havran) who is now the GM of Honolulu and will automatically lose Raven. Huskies311’s player, Marquees Acho, will be retired at the end of the season and will not be protected. Fortunately, Baltimore is stacked in the S21 arena with about 7 S21 actives who are all auto-protected. Baltimore is in a good position to be a fierce competitor in the next couple of seasons. You could argue that Chicago should protect Beat and leave Thorian exposed, but I chose to protect Thorian for the war room presence. And of course, steelsound retired Ahri Espeeyeeseetee, so he will not be protected. You also may wonder why Ryan Leaf Jr. will be protected if he is looking to get out of Chicago. My assumptions is that they will work with Leaf to stay until after the draft in order to get value from him in a trade. Two other actives are left open in Colorado, FleshBagSoup and Acsolap. Philadelphia will also protect their quarterback, Leafs4ever (Brock Phoenix), as well as iamslm22 (Avon Blocksdale) and Hallmonitor (ILove Gimmy), both being war room members. This leaves SouljaBoy2007 (Lamont McKinnie), who has been fairly inactive lately, as well as roastfuego (Randy Vuxta), goodfortunecoffee (Fuzzy Dotson), Ephenssta (Warren Stephenson), and DeadlyPlayer (Mike Franchet) who are all actives members exposed in the expansion draft. Both RainDelay (Rayne Gordon) and Frostbite (Dax Frost) are GMs for Sarasota and will automatically be lost in the expansion draft. However, now Yellowknifes (Yellowknives?) only have to worry about losing one additional player. Yellowknife will be protecting almost all their top TPE players with the exception of AirCrou (Giannis Krous) and Pazuzu (Bender B. Rodriguez). AirCrou will be hitting regression in the offseason and will have to leave AirCrou exposed. Wraiths will also protect manicmav36 and Bigred1580 for their war room presence even though they will be hit hard in regression this year. Arizona ven_knight (Lucas Knight) - Cornerback - S15 – 1096 TPE Opera_Phantom (Jay Cue) - Quarterback - S18 - 893 TPE SabaDonutMan (Saba Donut) - Wide Receiver - S17 -889 TPE Moosecop (Galf Wilf) - Linebacker - S20 -520 TPE Unicorn (Desmond Scarlett) - Cornerback - S20 - 498 TPE soryantyler (Jah Bur’Berry) - Wide Receiver - S20 - 409 TPE Drizzy (Jamie Nkiah) - Safety - S20 - 358 TPE Arizona will have to leave two active players unprotected, ShaneM86 (Shane Masters) and Toasty (Willie B. Hard). Toasty and ShaneM86 will be tough for Arizona to leave unprotected, but neither member are max earners nor war room members. Arizona also have a lot of S21 active players as well as the most S22 draft picks. Arizona will be in a good position in the next couple of seasons to make a play for the Ultimus. I also had to leave a few other active players unprotected: Tomasnz (Peter Larson), Ryan0413 (Alfredo Crisco), GreenArmy (Victor Moreno), and tlk742 (Hal Fassingit). These players are either in regression, not part of the war room, or not max earners. Austin will likely lose 3 players to the expansion draft. New Orleans TomHanks (Forrest Gump) - Running Back - S15 - 1336 TPE terriblehippo (Quenton Bode) - Linebacker - S15 -1233 TPE JuOSu (Stan Francisco) – Quarterback -S14 -1016 TPE ddrector (David Rector) – Cornerback - S18 - 858 TPE bex (Marcella T?riki) - Running Back - S18 - 799 TPE caltroit_red_flames (Givussafare Jay_Doctor (Mason Blaylock) - Safety - S19 - 673 TPE New Orleans is in sort of a tough spot, both of their GMs will be in regression at the end of this season and they have the most actives to lose. You need to protect TomHanks regardless, but JuOSu player will be losing more 250 TPE, putting her player below 800 TPE at the end of the season. NOLA does not have a replacement, so they would probably have protected her regardless. One glaring omission you may have noticed is the lack of Isa (Bjorn Ironside) on this list. Isa will be missed, but his presence will be with a top-tier DT with their 2nd overall pick. And no, I am not talking about myself here as much as I would like to be 2OA. NOLA will be leaving the following active players exposed in the expansion draft IsaStarcrossed (Bjorn Ironside), PaytonM34 (Brave Ulysses), Nokazoa (Austin McCormick), TheDangaZone (Xavian Adams), RaiderNation (Jordan Andrews), and KC15 (Jed Podolak). By exposing Isa, you should expect him to be taken early, allowing NOLA to protect Noka after he is picked. Orange County moonlight (Franklin Armstrong) – Quarterback - S15 - 1362 TPE Rising Equinox (Lanzer Grievous) – Linebacker - S15 - 1141 TPE speculadora (Hugh Mongo) - Wide Receiver - S16 - 1131 TPE TeyonSchavari (AJ Lattimer) – Cornerback - S15 - 1073 TPE Revolution5 (Tyrone Biggums) – Safety - S18 - 884 TPE Laser (Korrin Abernathy) – Cornerback - S18 - 836 TPE scorycory (Kacey Dream) – Cornerback - S19 - 723 TPE Rising Equinox who plays Lanzer Grievous quit the league a month or two ago, so I see no reason to protect him and he will be left exposed. OCO Kicker, TheWoZy (Ludicolo Bigby), Daybe (Jaylen Storm), and BigUnitBabs (Bobby Boucher) will be the active players on the otters that will be left exposed. The otters have three S21 actives that will fill in some of the gaps, but will need to hit on a lot of S22 rookies to be successful in the upcoming seasons. San Jose nickyvmlp (Dan Wright) – Quarterback - S15 - 1064 TPE Lowlycrib (Tyron Brackenridge) – Linebacker - S17 - 942 TPE Buttersqauch101 (Brayden Ennis) - Defensive Tackle - S17 - 810 TPE ckroyal92 (Trey Staley) - Safety - S12 - 653 TPE KillaScrilla (Action Jackson) - Wide Receiver - S17 - 626 TPE AndrewWarren13 (Deondre Thomas-Fox) - Wide Receiver – S19 – 488 TPE W.Sconnie (Inspectah Deck) – Linebacker – S20 – 339 TPE Sabercats have very little to lose in this the expansion draft and can protect all of their active high earners. Expansion Draft Round 1, Pick 1, SAR IsaStarcrossed (Bjorn Ironside) – Defensive Tackle – S18 – 811 TPE NOLA protects: Nokazoa (Austin McCormick) It should be no surprise the Isa is taken as the first pick with NOLA following up and protecting Noka. Round 1, Pick 2, HON TheDangaZone (Xavien Adams) – Cornerback – S18 – 611 TPE NOLA protects: KC15 (Jed Podolak) NOLA has a lot of talent and active players and it shows with the top two picks coming from NOLA. NOLA will then protect Podolak after Adams is taken, although I could see the just as easily going the other way and HON picking KC15 instead. Round 2, Pick 1, HON Rising Equinox (Lanzer Grievous) – Linebacker – S15 – 1141 TPE OCO protects: BigUnitBabs (Bobby Boucher) While Equinox has left the league, with Honlulu picking up Grievous, they can immediately boost their team the first season or two. With Grievous picked, Otters will then protect Boucher. Round 2, Pick 2, SAR Raider Nation (Jordan Andrews) – Cornerback – S17 - 599 TPE NOLA is now fully protected And just by the end of the second round, NOLA will have given up all three picks. Round 3, Pick 1, SAR SouljaBoy2007 (Lamont McKinnie) – Safety – S15 – 1000 TPE Liberty protects: goodfortunecoffee (Fuzzy Dotson) With this pick, Sarasota will be picking up one of the few leftover high TPE players hitting regression which will help Sarasota their first couple of seasons. Round 3, Pick 2, HON AirCrou (Giannis Krousitis) – Defensive Tackle – S15 – 930 TPE Yellowknife is now fully protected This is another high TPE pick where the player is starting to enter regression. AirCrou shares the locker room in Yellowknife with RainDelay and Frostbite, but Honolulu will get to AirCrou first. AirCrou will bring a good locker room presence to an expansion team. Round 4, Pick 1, HON KillKillKill (Honda Edmonds) – Linebacker – S17 – 776 TPE AUS protects: Beaver (Edmond Beaver-Dantes) KillKillKill is a great pick as he is an active player and is sitting at 776 TPE with two more seasons before regression hits. He will be a great boost to Honolulu’s defense along with AirCrou. Round 4, Pick 2, SAR FleshBagSoup (Earl Sauce) – Tight End – S18 - 666 TPE Colorado protects: soppychico (Steco Ocewilder) FleshBagSoup is another active high earning player who will not only bring immediate talent to Sarasota but will bring locker room presence to a young team. FleshBagSoup still has 3 seasons before he hits regression and will be a bridge while Sarasota bring up their S22 players. Round 5, Pick 1, SAR Acsolap (Thor Kirkby) – Safety – S20 – 399 TPE Colorado protects: golden_apricot (Silver Banana) Acsolap is a young, active S20 player that will bring an immediate boost over S22 rookies. Round 5, Pick 2, HON roastfuego (Randy Vuxta) – Wide Receiver – S20 – 427 TPE Philadelphia protects: Ephenssta (Warren Stephenson) Roastfuego is in a very similar position as Acsolap but perhaps a bit more active than Acsolap. The only reason I have Acsolap going before roastfuego is that Honolulu will have Rayne Gordon as their wide receiver. Round 6, Pick 1, HON DeadlyPlayer (Mike Franchet) – Defensive End – S18 – 305 TPE Philadelphia is now fully protected Deadlyplayer is not the highest earning player, but he is very active and a GM in the DSFL and will bring in a much needed presence to an expansion locker room. Round 6, Pick 2, SAR ShaneM86 (Shane Masters) – Defensive Tackle – S17 - 493 TPE Arizona protects: contacts (Jammerson Irving) ShaneM86 is a moderately active user with decent TPE for a S17 player. He has a couple of seasons before he hits regression and will be a decent boost for Sarasota’s defense for the first couple of seasons. Round 7, Pick 1, SAR Vexatious (Jacoby Clay) – Safety – S20 – 365 TPE Austin protects: GreenArmy (Victor Moreno) With only a handful of active players left to claim, Sarasota will claim Vexatious which will add talent to the young team. Round 7, Pick 2, HON DonnoMania (Beat) – Safety – S19 – 272 TPE Chicago protects: Libertines (Stevie Vassall) The first Chicago player will be taken off the board. DonnoMania is an active player who is a low to moderate earner and will be a good steal if Honolulu can encourage DonnaMania to have more gains and become more active. Round 8, Pick 1, HON PigSnout (Errol Maddox) – Wide Receiver – S12 – 969 TPE Baltimore protects: FortheBrand With not too many more active players left, Honolulu will pick up Errol Maddox. Maddox will bring at least one season of moderate TPE to Honolulu as well as a locker room presence. Round 8, Pick 2, SAR Shipwreckrising (Tony Gabagool) – Linebacker – S15 - 738 TPE Colorado is now fully protected Shipwreckrising is a low, but active earner who will bring value for at least one season as he will hit regression next season. Round 9, Pick 1, SAR adam2552 (Johnson Harding) – Defensive Tackle – S18 – 308 TPE Chicago protects: Rowdyyy (Kemorian Moore) adam has not updated his player in months, but you can still see him in the forums from time to time. If Sarasota can encourage adam to update his player, adam will be a very valuable asset. Regardless, adam as is has a TPE advantage over S22 rookies and can still add value as well as bring in the locker room presence. Round 9, Pick 2, HON Toasty (Willie B. Hardagain) – Wide Receiver – S19 – 318 TPE Arizona protects: BroicSilence (Marlo Smart) Toasty is another low earner, but you still often see him posting in the forums. He can still bring some value to a young team along with locker room activity. Round 10, Pick 1, HON tlk742 (Hal Fassingit) – Defensive End– S20 – 233 TPE Austin is fully protected tlk742 is another low-to-moderate, but active earner. He is a S20 player so he has many seasons left and should be able to find a way to add value to Sarasota. Round 10, Pick 2, SAR BigKicks (Alex D.) – Kicker – S15 - 641 TPE Orange County protects: Daybe (Jaylen Storm) BigKicks might have been the last active player on the board. While BigKicks is hitting regression next season, Sarasota should be able to get at least two productive seasons from him. Round 11, Pick 1, SAR Frostbite (Dax Frost) – Runningback – S21 – 409 TPE Yellowknife is fully protected Sarasota will have to use their last two picks on their players. Round 11, Pick 2, HON Zeddez (Quindarius Tyerucker) – Running Back – S19 – 278 TPE Last non-GM pick Zeddez has not updated in a few months but has logged into the forum recently. Honolulu should be able to get some value from even if Zeddez goes totally IA. Round 12, Pick 1, HON Raven (Corvo Havran) – Quarterback– S14 – 1275 TPE Honolulu has to pick up their GM here. Round 12, Pick 2, SAR RainDelay (Rayne Gordon) – Wide Receiver – S19 - 662 TPE Sarasota has to pick up their other GM here. I did not favor a lot of the younger players, but instead focused on higher TPE players who can bring value in the first two seasons of the expansion draft and having both teams leverage the large draft class to fill in the gaps.
