*Recap of Chicago's S22 Draft - Bayley - 05-19-2020 [div align=\\\"center\\\"]So, with the draft media, I decided it would be a good idea to do a S22 Chicago Draft Recap. Coming into being a General Manager, I thought this draft was absolutely crucial. We needed to crush this draft in order to turn around this team, well, I will let you guys decide how we did! With the 21st Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Benson Bayley Jr. Position: Linebacker TPE at Draft: 165 TPE now: 319 Difference: 154 Stats this season: (CHI) 81 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 1 interception, 8 pass deflections Analysis I hate writing about my own player, so I will not talk about myself that much. I really feel great about him. I honestly have not felt great about a player here since Benson Bayley the first time. I think that I compare a bunch to him as well. He would have been someone that was overlooked in the draft and is on a rebuilding team. I really love what I saw from him this year, I am looking forward to being a key part of the defense for many years to come. I think we are building a great defense, it does start with linebackers and stuff, so I think we will have a great core. With the 66th Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Julio Tirtawidjaja Position: Running Back TPE at Draft: 185 TPE now: 337 Difference: 152 Stats this season: (CHI) 213 attempts, 874 yards, 4.1 average, 2 touchdowns Analysis The more that I interact with this guy and see his activity level, I have no idea how he went with the 66th pick. Honestly, we could not be more happy with what we have seen from him. He has been a workhorse this year, pretty much because he had to be. This guy was literally up for anything coming into the year. This is what this guy does. He looks at anything as a challenge and something he can conquer. He has been a max player for us so far, so we are super excited that he will be a part of our offense. We love him as our lead back. When you look at what he has done, he has been a positive influence on the locker room, and really a rode model. I can see why everyone loves him on podcasts, we do as well. I am honestly super pumped about this pick. I could not be happier with what he has produced for us and what the future looks like for him. With the 78th Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Hamish MacAndrew Position: Safety TPE at Draft: 165 TPE now: 316 Difference: 151 Stats this season: (CHI) 58 tackles, 3 interceptions, 3 pass deflections, 1 sack Analysis How did this guy end up lasting to pick 78? Now, in the Dallas locker room, he was someone that was pretty quiet. I did not see too much from him, but in Chicago, this dude is talking about eating penguins and alien adventures. I am loving what I am seeing from him and his ELO articles. He is someone that loves analytics. He puts out so many articles to pay for training and equipment. This guy is going to be a foundational piece for the defense and the secondary. I love that he lasted since he was someone that we have been talking about for quite a bit in the war room. We thought about moving up many times for MacAndrew, so we are absolutely psyched that he fell to us. He is another max earner that we got with the 78th pick. I really love what I have seen from him, I expect this guy to be an All-Pro and All-NSFL team player. Quote:WE HAVE A TRADE TO ANNOUNCE: With the 81st Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Simeon Works Position: Defensive End TPE at Draft: 147 TPE now: 255 Difference: 108 Stats this season: (CHI) 31 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 2 sacks, 1 safety Analysis Imagine getting a guy that added 108 TPE in his rookie year in a deal for cash. Would I do this in a second again? Obviously. This guy was an absolute stud in his rookie year, taking on everyone and anyone that came his way. He was a huge part to the somewhat success of our defense. As the defense grows, he will grow with us. I really like what I have seen from Works as he has already maxed out speed and strength in his rookie year, so it will just be cake from here. He will have some really big shoes to fill with Skarsgard departing, but he will be an awesome add with John Smirh on the defensive line. Imagine those two growing together. There is a lot to love about Simeon Works. With the 90th Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Sam Sidekick Position: Kicker/Punter TPE at Draft: 132 TPE now: 241 Difference: 109 Stats this season: (CHI) 15/21 Field Goals, 6/8 Extra Point, 54 Long Analysis When we got Espinosa taken in the Expansion Draft, there is no doubt that we needed a kicker. Evok is someone I knew from so many leagues, and she has been a great member in every league that we have been in. There is absolutely no doubt that everyone wanted her, so we were happy that she fell to the 90th pick to us. She is going to be our long term kicker. Now, it was a little bit of a struggle this year for everyone including kicking, but as she grows, we all will get better. Evok is a near max earning kicker, so there is no doubt that she was a steal here. She does not get equipment, so that is why the number is a little lower, but we are super happy with her development. 90 picks, over 100 TPE in her rookie year, what else can you ask? We are psyched to have her for her career. You are stuck with me, babe! Quote:WE HAVE A TRADE TO ANNOUNCE With the 103rd Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Abbas Muhammad Position: Safety TPE at Draft: 106 TPE now: 209 Difference: 103 Stats this season: (DAL) 51 tackles, 1 sack Analysis We made the tough decision to move on from Ryan Leaf Jr as he was someone that wanted to be on a winning team for his final season in the NSFL. This is the pick that we got and we got another guy that had over 100 TPE. When you think of the fact that we can get MacAndrew and Muhammad as our future Safeties, we are very happy where we are with that. This guy has been a quiet guy a bit, but he does what he needs to do to get the job done. He is consistently earning and getting better. When you think about this pick, that is all you really want. He was another Birddog, so of course, we had to get more Dallas blood in the locker room. We see awesome things from this guy moving forward. With the 114th Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Von Hayes Position: Tight End TPE at Draft: 111 TPE now: 241 Difference: 130 Stats this season: (CHI) 37 catches, 260 yards Stats this season: Analysis My fellow New England Patriots fan. My goodness, how did you fall? I feel like I see this with almost every pick. How did 113 picks pass by before you were taken? Now, I will be honest for a second. You had some reserve about coming to Chicago because you hated the city, but we knew you would be a great fit despite that. You said all the right things in the interview.. minus the city of course, but we can just forget about that. This season has been a little bit of a challenge, but you took everything and took it head on. You know it will get better, so I love the outlook and the positive mindset that you have. When HEOB took over the CB position, a spot became available for Tight Ends, and you wanted it. You wanted to come up and make an immediate impact. Who is going to say no to that? We were psyched to have you on the team and being called up. You had a decent year, to be honest. When you think about having Franky, there was going to be some issues getting anyone the ball. You have made the most out of every opportunity and caught most balls that you could catch. I mean, what else do you want? 130 TPE in your rookie year, dang man. Keep it up! With the 123rd Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Shawn Ansari Position: Tight End TPE at Draft: 81 TPE now: 120 Difference: 39 Stats this season: (MINN) 15 catches, 126 yards, 1 touchdown Analysis This guy is another one that is a little younger and quiet, but has taken some time to try to get used to the league. At first, this league can be overwhelming as you try to get used to everything and get your feet settled. I think Ansari is still getting his feet settled and trying to get ahold of everything. I think you will develop if you keep it up. I am happy with this pick, for sure. With the 126th Pick ... the Chicago Butchers select.. Tyron Shields Position: Cornerback TPE at Draft: 71 TPE now: 202 Difference: 131 Stats this season: (MIN) 34 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 pass deflections Analysis Sheesh, 125 picks. This guy earned 131 TPE last draft. What are these other General Managers looking at? You missed a guy that is near active, how did you do that? He is over 200 TPE now and is a great part of the Minnesota Locker Room. In addition, he has been awesome in Chicago. This was someone I had my eye on, but he kept falling for some reason. I could not let him drop anymore, we did not want to miss out on this guy. We decided to take him with this pick. Is he the steal of the draft? I mean, it has to be close, there is no question about that. he will be surely coming up next season to be in Chicago and join a really great class and a good secondary that is developing. We are psyched to have you! Well, this is our Season 22 draft class. So, what do you think? How do you think we did? I think the future is bright. Thank you for reading!
