The London Royals are playoff bound! I have been waiting to say those words since I was drafted exactly one season ago. Back when I first joined the league nobody could have possibly known if I was going to be a bust or not. Hell I didn’t even know if I was going to stick around long term. The biggest positive I had going for me was that I was pretty good about doing my check ins and I got some good reviews in a couple of mock drafts. On the other hand I wasn’t particularly active on discord and I was a rookie in the truest sense of the word. I didn’t even know that simulation sports we’re a thing that people did before I saw that post on reddit.

My point is that the London Royals didn’t have to pick me at all let alone as quickly they did but they did. In such a stacked draft class there were dozens of other viable options for them to pick. With the 50th overall pick in the S22 draft they chose me to be their WR1. The Royals welcomed me into their home and made me feel like part of the family. I have been spending the past two seasons trying to pay them back for their generosity and to make their gamble pay off.

It all starts with TPE I did what I could to earn as much of the stuff as I possibly could and I worked to commit myself to writing at least one media article per week so that I would guarantee that I would have enough money to buy equipment. On the field I tried to stand out whenever possible. Honestly I could have done better in that regard. I think I only had something like 2 touchdowns my entire rookie year but I still did well enough to earn a pro bowl nod and was nominated for Wide Receiver of the Year. There was no way I was actually going to win WRotY but the nomination was nice. It felt good to earn all those personal accolades but it wasn’t enough for me.

Towards the end of last season when it became clear that we weren’t going to make the playoffs a big part of me was hoping I wouldn’t get called up to the NSFL so that I could remain a Royal. Again fortune seemed to smile on me. I was granted my wish. I got to remain a Royal for another year. I got another chance and it paid off this season the London Royals made the playoffs with a 6-8 record. I know I can’t take all the credit or even most of the credit. In the grand scheme I played a very minimalist role in our team's victories and an all too large part in our defeat but none of that matters right now my goal was to be a part of the Royals first playoff bound team and I succeeded in that goal. I only hope that I can create and or capitalize on the opportunity to make a huge play and who knows maybe I can be a part of the first Royals team to play in a DSFL championship game.
