*Interview with a TE - Arkz - 07-20-2020

Daniel Foster, newly declared tight end for the DSFL, sat opposite Chad Ziegler, league interviewer, and only had one thought in his head. "Damn, these lights are hot."

When he first stepped into the room he thought that the air conditioning was on overdrive. He even thought about asking them to turn it down before he took his seat. Now, though, he would have given anything for a little relief. Still, this was his first opportunity to make an impression on the league and he didn't want to waste. He also didn't want to pass out on camera, but one thing at a time.

"Ready to go?" Chad asked, briefly looking up from his notebook and checking his watch.

"As I'll ever be," Daniel replied.

Chad smiled before turning to the camera. There was a hush in the room, and then a red light.

"Tonight, I'm sitting down with tight end Daniel Foster, another hopeful for the DSLF and eventual ISFL," he began before turning to Daniel. "Daniel, what does football mean to you?"

Daniel paused, briefly. "Teamwork and freedom, I would say. There's no greater experience than walking on and off that field with your brothers after playing your heart out."

"And the freedom aspect?" Chad asked.

"When you're on the field, all you're worried about is your job, and the man in front of you." Daniel laughs lightly, "much more simple."

"If you had to draw a parallel between your skill set and one of the top performers in the ISFL, who would that be?"

Daniel took a moment before responding. "Leon McDavid comes to mind," he said. "Great speed, great on the line, but with hands."

"If you can play like McDavid, I would say you'd find a spot on any ISFL roster," Chad responded.

"I sure hope so!" Daniel replied, smirking.

"What do you think will be your biggest hurdle?" Chad asked.

"The speed of the game," Daniel replied instantly. "Its something you can't really appreciate until you're out there. But everyone on the field was a star somewhere, and that level of competition takes some serious getting used to. I can't wait to get out there."

"Well we wish you the best of luck, Daniel."

"Thanks Chad," Daniel answered, shaking Chad's hand.

The red light of the camera turned off, and the bright overhead lights followed soon after. Daniel had never felt such relief.
