The Arizona Outlaws First Offseason - ErMurazor - 07-20-2017

Reviewing the Arizona Outlaws Off season:
The Arizona Outlaws are arguably the most interesting franchise currently in the National Simulation Football League. Their success in Season 1, despite extremely low expectations surprised most. In last year’s draft the Outlaws were just another team, they didn’t have a lot to prove, they were just setting the foundation for the future. Following their process they were expected to be the worst team in the league by a significant margin. Even halfway through the season the success of the Outlaws franchise was attributed to luck or poor play by their opponents, but they still weren’t being discussed as contenders. As most of you know, that tale changed when the Outlaws went into the playoffs with home field advantage and never looked back, eventually seizing the first ever NSFL championship and bringing the Solis Cup and Ultimus Trophy back to Arizona.

What followed their win was surprising, before they even finished the post season there were rumblings of a problematic locker room and a sinking ship. Immediately following their win they lost many of their star players. Fan favorite and then DPOTY candidate, and now DPOTY, Isaiah Rashad was traded to the newly created Las Vegas Legion. The Outlaws also lost former GM linebacker Brady Stropko and the electric wide receiver Stormblessed in the same trade. Newly appointed GM Lincoln Jefferson abandoned the Outlaws and formed his own franchise in Philadelphia. Running back Jack Durden even found himself on the trade block and shipped off to San Jose, leaving a single active running back on the Outlaws’ roster. Two of the Outlaws’ star players defensive end Blaster Blade and offensive lineman Tim Pest were both on one year deals and found themselves in the season 2 draft where they’d be stripped away by other, worse performing teams. In a few short hours many of the Outlaws strengths: wide receivers, linebackers, and defensive linemen became liabilities.
After the so-called collapse the Outlaws were once again considered one of the lesser teams in the league, and to be honest, who could fault somebody for making that assessment. The Outlaws quite frankly, gave up a lot of their team and were left with holes that would be difficult to fill with limited draft capital for the season 2 draft.

So how did things turn out for the team with no wide receivers, holes at every defensive position, no kicker, a missing quarter back, and one offensive lineman after others were taken in the expansion draft? Let’s take a look at how the unlikely champions handled their meteoric rise to the top of the league and then plummet back down to the middle of the pack in the second off season in the National Simulation Football League.

We will begin with the wheeling and dealing, now solo general manager King Bronko did immediately in the off season. First, Jack Durden was shipped off to San Jose, along with Arizona’s season 2 first rounder, for the following San Jose Picks: Season 2 first, Season 2 fifth, Season 3 third. The next move made by the Outlaws was far more shocking to the league and Arizona Outlaws’ fans and players alike. Stormblessed, Brady Stropko, and Isaiah Rashad were all traded to the Las Vegas Legion in exchange for the following Las Vegas draft selections: Season 3 first, Season 4 first, Season 4 third. While from the general manager’s perspective these trades made sense, there was an expansion draft coming and active, good players were going to be lost from a team that had so many, it was a shrewd decision to trade them prior for something. Unfortunately for the Outlaws general manager players and fans may not have felt that way. These players were keystones of the Outlaws championship run. Every member of the Outlaws organization looked back at Mike Boss’ with memories as fond as warm cookies with your mom or sex without a condom, and it was all possible because of Isaiah Rashad’s playmaking. Stormblessed was the fastest man on the field and Brady Stropko was literally helping manage the team a few weeks prior.

But the Outlaws staff made the move anyways. Then these feelings were only strengthened when Isaiah Rashad went on to win multiple awards during the NSFL’s first ever awards ceremony, including the defensive player of the year. Who the hell trades the best defensive player in the league after winning a championship?!

Fast forward a few days and the Outlaws were back at the market wheeling and dealing with their favorite new expansion franchise, the Las Vegas Legion. The Outlaws traded away a season 3 third and a season 2 seventh in exchange for fan favorite, the bane of Mike Boss, Isaiah Rashad, of House Destroyer, First of His Name, the Unburnt, King of the defensive back field and the defensive touch down, defensive back of the great grass sea, Protector of the End Zone, Sir Regnant of the four downs, Breaker of Dreams the Father of the Interception; he was home in Arizona. The fans were ecstatic, there was one hole fewer in the Arizona Outlaws’ roster and they still had the season 2 draft. Maybe the Outlaws could turn this thing around…

There was another whole in the roster that needed filling, wide receiver went from 3 solid players to 0. Expecting to get three, or even two star wide receivers ins a single draft seemed like crazy talk so the team found another solution. The unsung hero of the dominant Arizona Outlaws, Mayran Jackson volunteered to help fill the void by switching to wide receiver. There was an abundance of defensive back talent in the season 2 draft and the Outlaws hope to fill the position there.

Now we'll fast forward to the big day, the Season Two National Simulation Football League Draft.

I WILL CONTINUE THIS LATER! NO YOU WON'T. GRADED
