There is a long history between myself and the league. I have been here from the beginning. Each time I am looking to take a break, I find myself diving further in. Someone save me. I joined on May 25th 2017. I found this site on a reddit recruitment thread in /r/buffalobills. I was almost a year into my marriage and we were expecting our first child. My son was to be born on the 17th but that came and went, my birthday the 18th, also came and went. Then the 27th happened and he finally came out. I was 2 days into the league and a new father. Some days i did absolutely nothing and some I needed to distract myself from being a father, it was not everything I had hoped for. There is a lot that they dont tell you or that you simply do not understand until you experience it for yourself. I love my son and I would do anything for him. This site, this league, it helped me and that is one of the reasons I cannot leave. The NSFL as it was once called helped me escape my reality and dive into something else. You got me through the hardest parts and now I think I’m a better father because of it. As time passed I found myself needing to bring on a friend. In comes RedCydranth (Marc Spector I and II). His recreate was a clone of the original. I guess he was unhappy with his build and wanted to try again. By chance Red was drafted to the Otters both times. The only place he wanted to play. As far as his new build is concerned, it went correctly this time and he made the hall of fame. I couldnt be happier about that. Red knew a ton about football and loved games. This was something we could talk about and something we could do together while he bounced around from place to place. Red’s health began to deteriorate and he was no longer a viable candidate for a second lung transplant. Sadly Red passed away in February of 2020 and we have yet to have any sort of goodbyes. This is me now diving in again to get through his passing and this stupid pandemic. So I am here through the thick and the thin of the league. I love it here and I love talking to you all and making friends. We’re all here to have fun, some of us just have fun in different ways. Thank you for reading.

Christ has it really been 25 seasons already? I joined the league after Ballerstorm starting spreading it in the SHL. I think I remember being hesitant at first, because I knew absolutely nothing about American football. Eventually I decided to join as it seemed like great fun to be a part of a new league. I originally was thinking of either making a kicker or a tight end. As kicker was the most basic position and tight end just seemed interesting. I ended up making a kicker, due to it in my mind requiring the least amount of football knowledge and with I created one of the greats in kicking history, maybe not the best ever, but having hold a ton of records since turk retirement until now Alex D is stealing them. It's interesting to think back and imagine what it might have been like making a Tight End. Maybe I could have been competition for Dimirio as he virtually had non until his twilight years.

Anyway I started out by complaining that I couldnt wait till the league started, Nuck yelling at me that if I wanted the league to get going to also pick up a job and help out and so I become an updater (for like a week or so lol) and a banker, which is a position I have held since that day. I was also the person who posted on all the team subreddits for the very first draft, so thanks for all the Reddit karma!

When I joined the league the SHL was still my main league as it were, but over time the NSFL became my main league. I have loved the league since, despite having become less active in recent times. I have lost touch with the newer generation of users and mostly just chill in the Honolulu LR nowadays. However having seen this league grow and going through differnt phases I love it as a child.

Active or not this league will always hold a special place in my heart and I can't wait to see it grow, expand and stay healthy in the future. I imagine by S50 we will have expanded even futher. Maybe we are a 20 team league by that point, if reddit drafts remain harvestable and we retain our user base. Some teams might have rebranded or relocated and we have no clue who the players are who are playing in that year yet. Records might be held by completely other players. Hopefully no teams will be on fire in S50 and we can all live and play together in harmony.

What the league means to me?
Where do I begin?
Well considering I signed up for S22 back in January or whatever back before the shit really hit the fan with Covid.  Its basically been a god send in a bunch of ways.  Because of Covid there were no sports for a while and the league got me through that period. Honestly, for that reason alone I’m grateful.

Aside from the league filling the sports void for a while, ive made some great friends over the last nine months. There are some users I feel close with and def would consider friends IRL.

During the beginning of the lockdowns and shit we really got things going in the Minn LR and a lot of those connections are still there. We’re all on different teams and shit now but we’re all still connected. The S22 ducks are a tight knit group. We went through a lot together and came out better for it. Every one of those users has a place in my heart.

On top of the friendships and the fun of the league and building a player and watching the sim and working for league now, there’s two other things that effected my IRL to mention.

For real, when I started in the league I didn’t know shit about computers or discord or being on the internet besides looking at porn. Starting out in the league was fucking rough. You may or may not know but I’m probably the oldest user in the league, or in the top 3 at least. Being around all the users on discord and the forum was hard for me because I didn’t know how to deal with people on the internet. Tbh im pretty much antisocial and obstinate IRL. So when starting out in the league that’s how I was and I was always having run ins with other users. That shit sucked. After a while I noticed it got a lot easier to deal with people.

Now none of the dumb shit bothers me anymore and this new attitude is helping me irl.

The other thing that has affected my life is doing graphics. When starting with the league I couldn’t even spell photoshop. Now that shit is a passion and maybe even one day doing stuff for people IRL has crossed my mind.

Sharing everything in the league with everyone has been so rad. Everyone has been great and all of it means more to me than you think. Now I honestly can’t imagine going a week without doing an AC and weekly training and then predictions and maybe a PT.

Thanks everyone! This shit has been dope.

This league become pretty important for me, for some reason. Coming into the, back then, National Simulation Football League, i had no idea that this kind of sim league was so common in the United States. I had played a few sim games (still do), but nothing quite like this. So, seeing the reddit post during the Season 18 recruitment drive was good, as i love your type of football and what better thing to do than to be a part of a game with loads of people that enjoy the sport.
The player creation part was a bit awkward, as i was used to playing browser games that did all the math for you, all you needed was to input what you wanted and the back end would do the rest. Still, like i always say to new players when i catch them on discord, it might take a bit to get used to the forum updates style, but once you do, it is copy paste and not a lot more.
After creating, i also decided to try out discord, as i knew what it was, but never really needed it for anything. As soon as I join the NSFL discord, some so called General Managers started talking to me, asking about my objectives as a QB, while telling me that being a QB on this league was the most demanding position, as it had limited spots, 10 at the time.
The most memorable moments i had on the league on this year and a bit are definitely the drafts, especially the NSFL one. After a decent season with Cue, where he threw for a lot of TDs and led the Portland Pythons to an Ultimini loss against the Tijuana Luchadores, i knew that whoever drafted me would be my "home" in the league for the entirety of Cue's career, so i had hoped to be drafted to a good locker room, with cool and funny people. I worked really hard to be near the top of the class, i think i got to the draft 3rd in TPE, but i got my hopes low, as i knew that it was highly unlikely that a QB would be drafted on the first few picks. Nevertheless, i was drafted in the 2nd round (18 OA) to the Arizona Outlaws, where i stayed until now, and will stay until I retire this player soon. Unfortunately i could not repay the Outlaws so far, but i am going to have one last shot at it in Season 26.
