Merry Christmas ISFL!

This Christmas the DSFL is getting a gift.  We are about to see a player the likes this League has never seen!  A new possession receiver who brings a new meaning to the phrase “All you need is One!”  That’s right, One-Handed Phenom WR Luke Quick is already making waves like no one has ever seen in this league.  Even though he only has one, this prospect has the best “Hands” of any prospect in league history.

Luke was born with a rare condition that required him to lose his left hand as a child.  But that never for a second held him back.  All through like people told him he couldn’t do things and time and time again he would prove them wrong.  When it came time to start to play his favorite sport, football, people told him he would never make it.  When it became apparent that he was determined to play, coaches wanted him to focus on defense.  But no, he felt like his talents were best suited to have the ball in his hands, so he chose Wide Receiver.  No one thought he could do it, until they started to see him making one-handed catch after one-handed catch, becoming the most sure-handed WR on his team.  He caught the eye of recruiters and wound up at the Division II school, University of Minnesota, Moorhead.  There, he set just about all the WR records for the Dragons in his four years.  He earned many honors and was featured on a tear-jerking segment by Tom Rinaldi on Game Day.

Upon Graduation, once again the doubters came in, saying he couldn’t make it as a pro.  Even though his speed, strength, route running and hand(s) were top marks, scouts are still doubting him, blaming his competition or offensive scheme for his records.  That all changed when they saw him competing with the best of the best at the Senior Bowl and the ISFL combine where he truly set himself apart. Now it is in the hands of the GMs to see who will take a shot on this once in a lifetime talent.

To prepare for the draft, Quick has begun working with long-time ISFL star Nate Swift, who is teaching him some of the finer points of being a pro football wide out.  Swift quickly disappeared from the limelight after winning his 3rd straight Ultimus, but has made a reappearance, reinventing himself as a top personal WR coach.  His relationship with Quick has blossomed into a true mentor/mentee team.  Says Swift, “I have never seen such raw talent in a player of this age.  Until you see what he does with your own eyes, you won’t be able to appreciate how remarkable he is.  Quick is destined to be one of the best that ever played. Remember that name.  I can’t wait to see what he does!”

Quick is ready to make a huge splash in this league.  Whoever drafts him is getting a superior talent who is also a team player.  GMs will be getting a leader on the field and in their LR.  As far as where Quick is hoping to go, he would be happy anywhere that wants him!  Quick has no demands on what team he goes too, even though his mentor, Swift, is a proud former Lucha and new Ring of Honor member.  Quick is fine blazing his own path in this league and is just excited to get going!
