*Andrew Warthol, San Diego State, To Declare For ISFL Draft - Skorch - 01-06-2021

It seems that the College Football landscape has been shaken up today as star San Diego State defensive end Andrew Warthol has decided to declare for the ISFL draft. This is seemingly not a large surprise, with Warthol's dominant history at the position. Warthol, in his Junior year season with the team, accrued 11.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 19 tackles for loss. While not touted as a high first round pick by scouts, many teams have shown interest in Warthol, even though he played in a slightly less competitive Mountain West division.

Even though Warthol started off slow in his College Football career, only recording 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss in his freshman year, many teams are interested in his growth potential. Each year of his career he had seemingly gotten more dominant, finally accruing into the dominant final season that Warthol was able to display. According to his coach, Brady Hoke, "Andrew is the type of guy that you not only would want on your team, but to be a leader on it as well. I've coached some amazing players that have gone on to have very successful careers, but none have had the sheer work ethic that Andrew has. We honestly didn't know how he would do after tearing his meniscus in his sophomore year, but somehow the kid came back way stronger than he was before. It lit a fire inside of him. He trained and trained, and when everyone else was done training, he trained some more. This is why I am so enamored with the guy. I really do wish him the best of luck in the ISFL, and whoever drafts him is going to get a great young leader with that."

It is with this fact, that most teams that are interested in picking him up are intrigued with what he can be, even after suffering a potentially career-altering injury in his sophomore year.
