Chicago Contract Punishment - iStegosauruz - 01-08-2021
Today the ISFL Head Office completed an investigation into George O’Donnell’s ( @Leafer ) contract with the Chicago Butchers. It was found that the contract extension that O’Donnell accepted on November 18th used an incorrect amount of TPE to determine his minimum salary.
O’Donnell signed an extension that included a $4,000,000 contract for both S27 and S29. Per II.D.2 of the ISFL rulebook that minimum contract value is for players between 800 and 999 TPE. At the time of the contract being posted O’Donnell had earned over 999 TPE. His true TPE value was 1037, which per II.D.2 of the rulebook is correlated with a $5,000,000 minimum contract.
According to III.A.9 of the ISFL rulebook players who sign a contract a minimum based off an incorrect TPE value forfeit the TPE they’ve earned that pushed them out of the contract tier for which they signed the contract for. In this situation, O’Donnell would need to forfeit 38 TPE to bring his true TPE level from the 1037 it was actually at when he signed the contract to the 999 value needed for a $4,000,000 minimum contract.
ISFL Head Office has determined that O’Donnell needs to remove 38 TPE from his build effective as of the new update to remain in compliance with his contract. It is important to note that both the team AND the player have a responsibility to ensure that any contract they enter into is legal under ISFL rules.
Both O’Donnell and the Chicago Butchers management can appeal this decision if they see fit.
