I think getting rid of awards is idiotic. You can be mad that there's controversy every year but that happens in real life too. Look at the endless debate around the 2010 Cy Young Award or Altuve Vs Judge.

I know I'm using baseball instead of football but that's just because I follow baseball more closely in real life.

Honestly, the idea delaying the awards shot or discussion an extra week wouldn't be a terrible idea.

Also a few positive things coming out of the sim switch:

Freedom of Depth Chart makes the whole, "did you qualify at this position" argument a little easier

Playbooks allow players to produce at their actual listed positions, especially pass catchers*

*I bring this up because there usually is a argument when it comes to RBotY if one player has a lot of receiving yards, and in DDSPF16 that typically only happens if they are spending significant time at WR, but with the change to the new playbooks this is not necessary anymore

Analysis charts as well as new stats for Defensive players can paint a clearer picture for player performance. For example, if you're a Cornerback with 100 tackles, the common belief is it's because you sucked at pass coverage. Now you can back that up or refute the claim a little easier by looking at the new stats and also the tackle chart.

As someone who just wrote a post complaining about the awards, fuck no don't get rid of them. It's not like the awards are bad, I just want them to be better.

  5. Awards committee gets mad at itself
  6. HO desperately doesn't want to vote on awards but GMs force them to anyways
  7. All voters don't really take the time to give the votes due diligence and full context
  8. There isn't enough time for them to do this anyways
  9. But if they were to have enough time, the offseason would be over 3 weeks long and that would be worse
  10. The awards stream typically only gets half the viewers of the ISFL draft
  11. It often requires a 36 hour turnaround to get all the graphics done, taking away time from the (aforementioned better viewed) ISFL Draft

LITERALLY EVERYONE GETS MAD OVER AWARDS NO MATTER WHO WINS

awards are supposed to be a fun celebration of players at the end of the season. instead it is a salt mine that appears at the end of every season. is this what we really want? it's clear you guys don't like awards. let's just get rid of them

Not a bad idea tbh.
