*Poised for a Breakout? - Cheech65 - 01-22-2021

In his 4 seasons in the ISFL, Clark Boyd has never caught more than 5 touchdowns and has only once caught for more than 500 yards. However, S27 looks to be a pivotal season for Clark. As the sole tight end for the Berlin Fire Salamanders, he can expect to be targeted much more frequently than in years past. Both for Berlin and his former team, the Sarasota Sailfish, Clark operated as part of a 2TE team structure. Thus, he got less targets. Even as a TE1 for Berlin, his targets did not grow much, and he mainly operated in the slot. However, his new build and team structure seems to have him poised for a breakout in the TE ranks. A former nominee for TE of the year, Clark Boyd seems poised to have his best receiving season to date.

On top of this, the implementation of the Offensive Line into fantasy has opened new doors for tight ends. Clark Boyd flew under the radar last season due to his lackluster offensive performance, but he excelled on the line. In fact, Clark stacked up 47 pancakes with only 1 sack allowed. That put him only 5 behind the much lauded Tight End of the Year winner, Tree Gelbman, who is also a year older.

Clark Boyd has been a quiet name on the scene for many seasons now. But, with the new game structure and new team structure he'll be playing in, he may just prove to be not only a worthwhile pickup, but an unexpected breakout player, both on the fantasy stat sheet and on the gridiron itself. Keep your eyes peeled this season.

Unless he plays like crap. Then you should look away.

I took Clark Boyd 13th overall in my group. I see big things for this soon to be star this season.
