Defensive Line Standouts Week 3
Welcome to Week 3 of our (hopefully) weekly look at defensive line performances across the league! Weeks 3 and 4 will be shorter due to the short turn-around. Last week we saw the return of the veterans and an otherworldly performance from the Arizona Outlaws in “The Sackening.” Will the Baltimore Hawks continue their impressive defensive turn-around from just one short year ago? Will the Wraiths finally get a second player on the list? Can I continue asking questions and not answering them? Enough chit chat… Let’s begin!

Defensive End Top Performers

J. Tuck AZ ($$) 8 TCK, 2 TFL, 2 SCK
Tuck continues to show why he was named the top defensive lineman of the year last season with an 8 tackle, 2 tackles for loss, and 2 sack performance.

J. Spearhead YK ($) 5 TCK, 3 TFL, 1 SCK
Spearhead is making his first appearance on the list this week, and definitely earned his spot. He recorded the most tackles for loss of any player this season with 3, and added 5 tackles and a sack for good measure.

F. Wozy Colo ($$) 6 TCK, 2 TFL, 1 SCK
Wozy is making his second appearance on the list with his best performance of the season. He contributed across all facets of the defense by recording 6 tackles, and spent plenty of time in the backfield with 2 tackles for loss and a sack.

Other Top Performers

D. Davidson Ph ($) 5 TCK, 2 SCK
A. Tomlinson OC ($) 4 TCK, 2 SCK, 1 safety
D. Dam AZ ($$) 2 TCK, 1 TFL, 1 SCK
Davidson and Tomlinson are both making their first appearances on the list with a pair of sacks each. Dental Dam, a member of the vaunted Outlaws defensive line is making his second with a less impactful performance than his counterparts, but still impressive none the less.

Defensive Tackle Top Performers

M. Ramrio LV ($$$) 9 TCK, 2 TFL, 2 SCK
Ramrio put up the best performance of any defensive tackle this season with 9 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. Between Ramrio and Cox, the Las Vegas Legion have what is, arguably, the best performing defensive tackle duo in the league.

J. Reigns OC ($) 4 TCK, 2 TFL, 1 SCK
J. Reigns took the reigns (GET IT?!) from rookie stand-out Ben Green this week and showed that he deserves some recognition too. Reigns tied Ramrio with 2 tackles for loss, the most of any defensive tackle in the league this week.

V. Cox LV ($$$) 4 TCK, 1 SCK
Like teammate Ramrio, Cox is making his third appearance on this list. After just 3 games, Cox has already amassed 11 tackles and 3 sacks and is on pace to finish the season with 14 sacks. Ramrio and Cox should be expected to give opposing linemen fits all year with their constant penetration.

Other Top Performers

J. Boom Bal ($$) 3 TCK, 1 SCK
D. Miller SJ ($$) 3 TCK, 1 SCK
L. Pierce AZ ($$) 3 TCK, 1 SCK
All 3 players listed above are making their second appearance on the list and posted identical stat line. Pierce is the third member of the Arizona Outlaws on this list and continues to show that the Outlaws pass rush is unmatched in the league.

Team Appearances After Week 3
Arizona: 7
Las Vegas: 7
Baltimore: 6
San Jose: 5
Colorado: 4
Orange County: 5
Philadelphia: 3
Yellow Knife: 2

As far as team appearances, Baltimore was jumped by both Arizona and Las Vegas this week. After the week 3 performances, we can start to see more of what to expect week to week. Occasionally, players will explode for a big week, while other have been consistently good/great. Players like J. Tuck and the twin monsters from Las Vegas, Cox and Ramrio will most likely make frequent appearances here. Week 4 will be posted shortly. Please feel free to share your thoughts and comments below!
