As I'm sure people are well aware by now, New York is quickly becoming the home of this league's break out talents; this is a team that takes players who have in the past struggled to reach their potential, and helps them achieve at the highest level. This season, once again, there are a number of players who I would like to call attention to. First, Captain Rogers, who played second fiddle to Ashley Owens last season, is now coming into his own as a lead running back, as he is on pace for over a thousand yards and a dozen touchdowns. Now, his numbers last season weren't insignificant, as he recorded over nine hundred yards and eight touchdowns, but it is clear that he has finally burst onto the scene in the lead back role he deserves, so I have to argue on his behalf here. On defense, I think there are two Silverbacks worthy of consideration for break out player: DE Brick Van Sanzo and CB Colt Mendoza. After riding pine for all of last season, Van Sanzo has found his way into the spotlight, recording seven sacks and a safety on the season so far. Mendoza, meanwhile, has turned the tide in his move to New York from Austin; although his tackle count is down a hair, he's already essentially matched the interception and pass deflection numbers he recorded last season, a huge turn in the career of a player who at times struggled despite his talent. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see two Silverbacks taking home break out player awards this season, not one bit.
