Team of the week question - Kristy95 - 08-07-2017

So some people did enjoy my team of the week so far. I have a question. So far, I have done awards for every position as well as the team of the week. Beyond that I have done Offensive player of the week, defensive player of the week, special teams player of the week and overall player of the week.

Now, a question regarding that... What do you think, should the player of the week also automatically win his position? I.e. The player of the week is a QB/RB/WR - is he automatically the offensive player of the week too? Or should it be avoided and someone else wins the positional award? So far I have given the award this way that he wins both, and I think that makes more sense for a yearly tally, but I also feel as though it should be four different players winning those four awards.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I think it makes sense to keep it how you've been doing it, that seems to be how it's typically done in real life too.

I think it really depends on how you want to run it. I think one way you could do it so there are four winners is by having the positional awards be purely stats based awards. Then the player of the week award could be somebody who had a really really good day but also was key in their team winning.

Here is an example:
John Doe 29 carries 129 yards 2 TDs 3 catches 15 yards 1 TD
RB of the week

Jane Doe 31 carries 112 yards 2 TDs (Game winning TD in 4th quarter) 1 catch 7 yards
Player of the week

Makes good sense because you'll have Fox North who racks up stats but eventually the team does not win.

Yea that's kind of the thought behind it. Like Offensive Player of the Year and MVP in the NFL
