While it's nice to focus on the amazing performances out on the field this season, I think a highlight reel would be incomplete without focusing in on those beautiful moments outside of the game clock. For Raeni, that means the opportunities she's had througought season to bond with her fellow rookie Seawolves, as well as the rich alumni community of former Seawolves. Late-night phone calls, locker room chats, the annual Seawolves taco-eating competition. It's the exciting jersey swaps done with friends from her prospect bowl team. It's meaningful scouting conversations as she prepares to enter the next chapter of her career with the upcoming ISFL draft. But perhaps most of all, it was the chance she had to return to New York, to the neighborhood she started her childhood in, and to connect with her old neighbors who are eagerly following every detail of her journey. She went to the school she was attending when she first starting playing football herself, and was able to connect with a new wave of bright-eyed students with a love of the game. These moments are just as meaningful as the first touchdown thrown in her DSFL career, or her three touchdown game. The TV will show you the on the field moments, but it's important to reflect on the personal moments too.

The major highlight of the season has to be the ending to the Sailfish and Yeti game in Week 15. There were 4 plays practically back to back that turned this game into an absolute slugfest. With 3 minutes 18 seconds left in the game, Sailfish QB Mike Boss Jr. threw a 51 yard interception, and this started off the flurry of blows between the two teams. One play later Caliban cashes in on the interception, throwing a 12 yard touchdown to star wide receiver William Lim. After the kickoff, Boss Jr was ready to get back on track after the interception and he was quick in his revenge. One play, one touchdown, Boss Jr hits his star wide receiver, Michael Witheblock, for a 75 yard touchdown reception. Taking the lead back with one throw, Sailfish now are on top 34-31 after what could have been a costly interception, and with only 1 minute left, you figure that would be the game and Colorado wouldn’t be able to get down the field in time. Well, after the kickoff, 75 yards would happen again. Caliban hit Jenkins this time, equaling the one play one touchdown, 75 yard pass the Sailfish completed a minute prior. With only 17 seconds left after this, the game was over quickly, the Sailfish couldn’t answer back with another 75 yard touchdown, and the game ends 38-34. This flurry of blows saw what should have been two game winning touchdowns, before the ultimate game winner for Caliban. (250 words)

There are a lot of highlights for the butchers this year to talk about. In a year that harkened back to the early days of the seasons with the amount of sacks that were unleashed, there were a lot of them for the butchers in particular. A lot of players this season have had two sack games. Domine definitely earned the Defensive player of the year for the butchers putting in multiple double sack games. But my highlight was week 9 against the Austin copperheads. The game was pretty locked up at halftime with the copperheads getting good field position most of the time and the butchers only really getting one good drive in the first half. holding the copperheads to two field goals was an accomplishment but the game was ended in the third quarter with a sack safety that broke the backs of the copperheads. There were a lot of sacks by chainbreaker this year that were 10 yards or more that put huge crimps into drives, more than one ended a drive outright. But a sack that was in the endzone didn't just score two points it gave the butcher's offense a great field position for the next drive. Granted the offense was having a bad day and didn't turn it into any points, or any of the following drives into points, but it was a huge play that set the tone for the rest of the game and is a capstone stat for a 12 sack season for the rookie.

The moment that everything changed: Halftime Week 10.
The New Orleans Second Line were down 18 at home against San Jose going into halftime. Losing was familiar to NOLA at this point. They were 3-6 and several games out of the playoff picture in the ASFC. Though four of their six losses were just by one score, the Second Line were coming off a demoralizing 24 point loss against the Sarasota Sailfish. Once the team got into the locker room, veteran tight end and offensive captain Austin McCormick stood up. He said, “I believe in this team. We are better than this. We have nothing to lose! Let’s go out there and play fast. Let’s be aggressive! How badly do y’all want to win? This San Jose squad has nothing on us! Let’s go play like I know we can. I believe in this team!”
This was the turning point for the team. The defense played fast and physical to start the half. Zbornak got a sack. Rookie Vinny Jones deflected a pass on third down. Now, quarterback Ben Slothlisberger knew what to do. After taking three sacks and turning the ball over twice in the first half, Slothlisberger came alive. He hit two quick strikes to start the drive. After faking another short throw, he found Austin McCormick on a deep seam route for a 73 yard score. New Orleans had momentum and hope on their side. The defense forced a three and out and the offense put on an eleven play methodical drive to score again! Down by five now. The defense forced another three and out! A couple big time throws to convert two third downs. Another 3rd and seven but this time Sloth finds Barker for a 57 yarder and Bodenhamer for the 2-pt conversion! NOLA up by three! This time the defense allows a bit of room for San Jose. They tie with a 50 yard field goal. NOLA gets the ball back with two minutes and forty four seconds left on the clock. First down: seven yard DPI penalty. Now it’s first and ten from the NOLA 32. It’s Sloth to Barker again! This time 64 yards! He’s down inside the five yard line to the four! 1:23 to play now. Slothlisberger can’t be stopped! He delivers a strike to Bodenhamer for the touchdown! San Jose gets the ball back with a minute to play. Jack finds Crossley for a 32 yarder. Thirty seconds. Crossley with another nine yards. Ball is spiked with seven seconds left. San Jose will have one more shot at the end zone from the NOLA 33. Jack heaves the ball into the end zone. Running back Cardrissian gets his hands on it… No! It’s incomplete! The Second Line win!
New Orleans went on to win six of their final seven games of the season to finish 9-7. They just won a wild card game, and hope to make their second consecutive Ultimus. It all came down to that moment at halftime against San Jose when the team chose to leave it all on the field, no matter what.

RE: (S27) PT5 - Highlight Reel - Big Edd - 03-07-2021

I think this was my 6th or 7th season in the league, and it by far had to have been one of the fastest and rather bizarre ones. The longer offseason could have played a major part in the feeling of the tempo this season. But nonetheless, it sure has been a roller coaster ride. Statistically for Big Edd had one of his greatest games ever. It was week 6, and there was yet to be a clear top player for the defensive tackle of the year. We all know how baltimore was not the greatest team this year, so I was looking forward to a good game. The keyword is "good" because what happened during the game was straight up greatness. A 7 tackle performance followed but not one but two forced fumbles on back to back plays alongside a sack and recovery. You know you had a wonderful game when your stat line is a mouthful to say. But in regards to the best play(s) of the season so far, it would have to be in the most recent playoff game against the Butchers. Chicago was storming down the field at ease on route to score an early go-ahead touchdown. That was until stopped them on the 2-yard line three times consecutively, singlehandedly ending that drive.
