S28 Offseason Patch (Thread 2 of 2) - Swanty - 03-08-2021

Hello again! As promised here are the final changes being made for the upcoming S28 season, none of which require any player action.

DSFL Penalties Update

What is the change?
All DSFL players will be given the Media Darling trait as well as a 100 rating in Sportsmanship.

Why?
The DSFL has seen an extremely high number of penalties this season. These adjustments will cut the number of penalties by around 40% to be in line with the NFL and slightly above ISFL levels.

Action needed?
No action needed. The update sheet will apply these changes automatically.

Position Skill Update

What is the change?
For the ISFL, the formulas for all positions will be set to the following:

QB: 70 + TPE/50 + 2*XP
RB: 80 + TPE/150 + 1*XP
Human OL: 80 + TPE/100 + 2*XP
Bot OL: 70
All others: 60 + TPE/50 + 3*XP

Where TPE is earned TPE and XP is the number of seasons your player has played.

For the DSFL, the formulas for all positions will change to the following values, fixed across all players at each position:

QB - 75
RB - 85
OL - 75
All others - 65

Why?
Across the board, the position skill formulas are being increased to reduce the double whammy effect of low TPE resulting in lower attributes and worse performance modifiers as a result of position skill. The higher RB starting point will help reduce the boom/bust RB performances we’ve seen so far. For OL, the fundamental difference between human and bot OL (that humans are more effective at the same TPE than bots) is maintained, but the new formulas make this advantage a little more consistent across all bot tiers.

For the needs of DSFL gameplay, we are fixing position skill to eliminate any inherent performance advantage that high TPE senddowns would have over rookies or bots, as we believed that ran counter to the intentions of the developmental league. The position skill overall will be much higher than this previous season, which should lead to better player performance across the board.

Action needed?
No action needed. The update sheet will apply these changes automatically.

ISFL Blitz Ratios Update

What is the change?
The maximum value for Blitz ratios in the ISFL will be reduced from 100 to 75. It will remain at 100 for the DSFL.

Why?
Sacks in S27 were a little above where we had expected them to be, and LBs are overrepresented in sack numbers compared to other positions, much more so than in the NFL. This change will reduce overall sacks while not penalising D-lineman.

Action needed?
No action needed other than to adjust strategies to the new limit. New DC submission sheets will have these limits incorporated.

Running Back Update

What is the change?
All RBs will be given the PowerRunner trait in both the ISFL and DSFL.
The Rushing Yards modifier in the ISFL League Settings will be set to +3. In the DSFL, it will be set to +6.

Why?
While season-long YPCs for RBs are in a good place, this is being made up of far too many micro/negative yardage runs coupled with extremely long runs. Adding the Power Runner trait, adjusting the modifier, and incorporating the aforementioned position skill changes results in more reliable rushing, with RBs seeing more mid range rushes and fewer micro and huge rushes.

Action needed?
No action needed. The league sim file will be changed accordingly, and the update sheet will apply these changes automatically.
