*NSFL Offensive Line Rankings - Muford - 08-10-2017

What I am going to give you right now, is a simple breakdown by team of the TPE for offensive linemen. We will start with the Yellowknife Wraiths and work our way down in no particular order. Every team will have an explanation of what I believe, some stats thrown in there, (pancakes and sacks allowed) and some of the teams have some of my personal thoughts on how to improve them. This is purely based on my opinion only, so let’s hope people don’t get to butt hurt about it.

Yellowknife Wraiths:

S1 Mat Akselsen OL 299
S1 Jogn Floggity OL 285
S2 Tyron Smith OL 106
S2 Matt James OL 104

Yellowknife right now has four active Offensive Linemen. Mat Akselsen leads the team with 299 TPE, and Jogn Floggity is right behind him at 285. These two men are the anchors in Yellowknife, and it shows. They have shown time and time again great work ethic and live in the gym. Akselsen is the second highest TPE earner in the league for OL behind Mr. Angus Winchester, but we will get to him when we get to the Otters. Behind those two men, the Wraiths bring the second best line into the NSFL, allowing only 9 total sacks, while accumulating 121 pancakes. Talk about commitment and work ethic out there in Yellowknife. QB Chris Orosz must be proud, and buying these guys whatever they want! If Orosz continues to bribe their guys, they might continue to keep him alive long enough to bring the Wraiths to the playoffs, where they might actually win a game. Smile

Next we move on to the Arizona Outlaws. A team that has the best record in the league, and is showing no signs of slowing down heading into week 7.

Arizona Outlaws:

S2 Tim Pest OL 254
S2 Scott Timlin OL 145
S1 Alex Thomas OL 123
S2 Gui Worthy OL 75
S2 Connor MacManus OL 69
S2 Busters Brownce OL 50

Tim Pest is the leader of this unit, and don’t let anybody tell you anything differently. He is tied with Gregor Clegane for most TPE from a season 2 rookie, and is showing no signs of slowing down. He has 19 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed. The other key players for this line right now are Gui Worthy, with 24 pancakes and 4 sacks allowed, and Scott Timlin, with 21 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed. The team in general is tied for best in league at only 7 sacks allowed, while collecting 103 Pancakes. Their pancake total is low, but that doesn’t matter, because they are opening up room for Reg Mackworthy, and giving King Bronko all the time he needs. There’s a reason that Arizona is number one in the league, and their Offensive Line has something to do with it. If their line keeps this up, Arizona can go into the playoffs with the best record, and what could be a possible repeat for the Ultimus Trophy.

The Baltimore Hawks are living on a completely revamped line from Season 1. Bringing in five brand new starters to their line, there has been a lot of changes, and that isn’t always a bad thing.

Baltimore Hawks:

S2 Brokk Lee OL 167
S2 Dieter Koch OL 110
S2 Avon Blocksdale OL 107
S2 Pat Pancake OL 50
S2 Alonzo Charles OL 50

Leading the way for the Hawks are Dieter Koch and Alonzo Charles. Koch has 21 pancakes and 3 sacks allowed, while Charles has 21 pancakes and 1 sack allowed. They help anchor a line that is third in the league with 10 sacks total, and have 111 pancakes to their name. These guys help open up the wonderful running game of Darlane Farlane and he is showing no signs of slowing down. Farlane is leading the league with 593 yards in six games! He can easily break the record from last year, and the offensive line is showing that it is okay to go with a bunch of rookies, because they can get the job done. Baltimore’s line looks scary now, and will continue to impress for years to come! At this rate, we could see this offensive line anchor them into the playoffs, where anything can happen.

Next we talk about Colorado. While they do have a 3-3 record, their line is having a poor display. They’ve added in a mixture of veterans, rookies and waiver picks, and it’s still not looking the best for them. If they want to clean it up they are going to have to look at their line first and foremost.

Colorado Yeti:
S1 Bender Rodriguez OL 146
S2 Gadget Tech OL 94
S1 Daniel Robicheaux OL 81
S3 Antonio Sandoval OL 57
S2 Bernard Forthward OL 50

Colorado is second worst in the league, allowing 27 sacks! That is a ridiculous amount of sacks through only 6 games. That is four and a half sacks a game, only on the line. That isn’t including Linebacker blitzes, safety and cornerback blitzes either. That’s just from the trenches alone. Colorado is going to have to look at possibly adding someone through trade to shore up this line. Bender Rodriguez has the most pancakes on the team with 22, but also leads the league in sacks allowed at 8. Daniel Robicheaux is right behind him with 15 pancakes and 7 sacks allowed. I don’t know what Colorado is thinking, but they need to strengthen this line, and quickly!

We will look at our first expansion team of season Two. The Las Vegas Legion has had a lot of problems thus far, having a 1-5 record. A lot of their problems could be looked at their Offensive Line, where they didn’t really make an impact in the draft, since they had a strong belief in trading for a team. It has backfired on them so far, but let us look at their line.

Las Vegas Legion:

S1 Tim Tebow OL 96
S1 Saggitariutt Jefferspin OL 74
S1 Jordan Weal OL 50
S3 Luke Long 57

The Legion have allowed 22 sacks on only 82 pancakes. But that’s not the worst in the league, we will talk about that team coming up. Weal leads the team with 16 pancakes, and only 1 sack allowed. Saggitaruitt Jefferspin has 15 pancakes with 0 sacks allowed. Then Tim Tebow is struggling with 12 pancakes and 6 sacks allowed. Something the Legion are going to have to do if they want to be in the running for the playoffs is make sure they can protect Josh Bercovici so he can actually have time and look like a real quarterback. Maybe Bercovici should take a page out of Orosz’s book and start getting things for his line if they can protect him for a game. The Legion will hopefully try and recuperate some of their draft picks, to try and add to their line in the upcoming Season 3 Draft.

Next we will talk about the lovely Orange County Otters. They have the reigning MVP in Angus Winchester, and brought back a great pickup in Gregor Clegane from the season 2 draft.

Orange County Otters:

S1 Angus Winchester OL 316
S2 Greg Clegane OL 254
S1 D'Brickashaw Ferguson OL 105
S2 Shjom Finkenlarkin OL 93
S1 Marcus Boyd OL 61
S1 Cliff Hamilton OL 50

Angus Winchester is having an off year, but he still leads all of the Offensive linemen with 316 TPE. His off year has accounted for only 10 pancakes, and 3 allowed sacks through six games. A lot of people are thinking he’s going to turn it around in the second half of the season, and I am also a firm believer in that. We will continue to monitor the Angus Winchester situation closely, and see what he does to get out of his sophomore slump. Gregor Clegane is tied for the most TPE from a Season 2 draftee Lineman and it shows. Hes helping team team out with 13 pancakes and 3 sacks allowed per game. One surprise that has everybody shaking their heads is Cliff Hamilton. He leads the team with 16 pancakes, and 3 sacks allowed. As a unit, they’ve allowed 15 Sacks while accounting for 95 Pancakes, which puts them right in the middle of the pack in the league.

The Philadelphia Liberty sadly bring the worst line in the league to the table. While Baltimore is able to bring 5 rookies and do what they need to do, The Liberty are trying the same thing, and it’s biting them in the ass. Maybe they need the veteran leadership from someone.

Philadelphia Liberty:

S2 Micah Hendrix OL 196
S2 Brett Dodggy OL 89
S3 Jordan Danvers OL 76
S2 Bradley T OL 54
S2 Jazzy J OL 50

Right now, The Philadelphia Liberty are the worst in the league in Pancakes and Sacks allowed. They have 80 pancakes while allowing a staggering 28 Sacks. Micah Hendrix leads the team with 20 pancakes and 2 sacks allowed, but the rest of the line could only be so lucky to do the same. Center Jordan Danvers is getting destroyed on the inside, having only 11 pancakes, but getting bullied to the tune of 7 sacks allowed. At this rate, it might be better to throw out a bunch of PeeWee football kids out there, they might be able to block better than the line they already have. The Offensive Line in Philly needs to try to come together and give Jameis Christ some time, but who knows what’s going on there. Omar Wright is able to get some work done, but if the team wants to compete they need to band together and slow things down, sometimes if you take it back to the basics it might be able to help them do what they need to do.

Last but not least, let’s talk about the BEST offensive line in the league. The San Jose Sabercats have a 3-3 record, but that doesn’t really have to do with the line. Already having a big name like Ben Longshaw and bringing in the rest of the guys has really helped mold the Sabercats into a scary team.

San Jose Sabercats:

S2 Vincent Sharpei OL 243
S1 Ben Longshaw OL 205
S2 Jordan Yates OL 187
S2 Braden Sharp OL 72
S3 Sammy Walters OL 60

The third best Offensive Lineman from the season 2 draft is Vincent Sharpei. His 243 TPE has pushed him above Longshaw, and right behind Tim Pest and Gregor Clegane. Ben Longshaw is the clear leader of the team, bringing the syrup with 38 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed. Sharpei is right behind him with 24 pancakes and 2 sacks allowed, followed by Jordan Yates at 20 and 1. The line is rounded out with Branden Sharp at Center and Sammy Walters, the Waiver pick up, at Guard. This line has protected Ethan Hunt, and helped push him to become the best QB in the league right now. Jack Durden is feasting on linebackers and secondary players due to all the time he has with his front five. The Sabercats have 122 pancakes and have only allowed 7 sacks. If they keep this up, and keep the offense on the field, they will continue to surprise and be a tough team to beat.

With six weeks through the season, in order from best to worst the Offensive Lines are as follows...

San Jose Sabercats
Arizona Outlaws
Yellowknife Wraiths
Baltimore Hawks
Orange County Otters
Las Vegas Legion
Colorado Yeti
Philadelphia Liberty

Only time will tell, and we will come back to this possibly at the end of the year and see how much it has changed. But it is believed that there won’t be much of a shake up in the offensive lines, and this is how they will look at the end of the year. Will Angus Winchester come back into dominance in the second half of the season? Will Ben Longshaw fall off, and not be as dominant as he has been through the first week? Will The Liberty, Yeti, and Legion make a trade to change their offensive line? All these questions, and there are no for sure answers to what will happen in the following week.

Nice job. One correction, Danvers is an S3 player for the Liberty. It's incorrect on their page.

How much better would the addition of S3 OL Jughead Jones to the Wraiths make them now that we signed him this morning?

Probably right around the same spot as you are now, at #3. No games played by him yet / no stats for him. Sorry Buddy.

Are your rankings based off TPE or stats? Because our line in Baltimore has given up BY FAR the least sacks, and we have the leading rusher. We have been statistically the best line so far.

@iamslm22

http://www.nsfl.wtgbear.com/season02/TeamL...eLineStats.html for stats.

Baltimore Hawks Games Played:6 Pancakes:111 Sacks:10

So where are you getting your stats?

Also yes, you do have the best rusher in theory. 24 more attempts then Durden, and only 52 more yards. So an average of 2.1 yards on those 24 attempts and Durden would have more. as well as a 3.7 YPC compared to 3.9 for Durden.
