EXPANSION ALERT EXPANSION ALERT!!!!!!!!!
Ok Yes i know people are going to see that and start freaking out, Just to be clear this is all HYPOTHETICAL and in no way shape or form is this representing something that is going to happen anytime soon. I would like to reiterate that I have had 0 communications with any of these teams GM’s and I am solely working off of my thoughts and educated guesses on this. I would also like to add that this has nothing to do with HO either. My current position with them has nothing to do with this.
So first let me explain what’s going on here. Last month I got the idea of doing a series of articles mocking what the league would look like if expansion got announced and we were adding 2 new teams. So once I stopped procrastinating on the article I started diving into each teams roster and put together this list on who I think teams would protect and leave unprotected if the expansion draft happened this season. This is part 1 multiple parts of this project. In a few weeks I will be unveiling my branding ideas for these 2 teams, as well as the Mock Expansion draft AND I will be doing a Mock S30 rookie draft with these 2 teams being added to that mix.
Here are the rules for who is going to be eligible for the expansion draft and who isn’t. Each team gets 8 protection slots. GM’s count as .5 meaning a team can protect both GM players using 1 spot. If teams only have 1 Gm on the roster, then the .5 counts as 1 spot. For each player taken from a team, that team will get 1 new protection slot. Each team is only allowed to lose 2 players from its active roster. Once a team has 2 players taken from them the rest are auto protected and may not lose any more players.
