*Ultimus Bowl XXX Host City Bid - Amsterdam, The Netherlands - qWest - 06-26-2021 Often referred to as the "Venice of the North" for the more than 100 kilometers of strikingly beautiful historic canals within the Dutch capital, Amsterdam is the perfect next location for the International Simulation Football League's Ultimus Bowl. That title isn't quite fair to Amsterdam though, as this unique city grew as the heart of the Dutch empire alongside the city-state of Venice in time, not as an imitation. Though, as two long-standing centers of trade and culture for the European continent, the comparison is fair. The Amsterdam Stock Exchange has served as a world financial hub for longer than any other modern market, spanning spice trading to tech conglomerates. As a center of culture and trade the city has long been a center of recreation, hosting world-class festivals and sports events. Amsterdam has certainly been at the forefront of catering to all kinds of recreational events at the highest level. Being the heart of open cultural exchange has lead to Amsterdam becoming one of, if not the most, multicultural cities in the world, as Amsterdammers identify with more than 177 nationalities. Perhaps the greatest export for Amsterdam throughout it's history have been it's performing and especially it's visual arts. Arguably two of the most influential painters in European art history, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn and Vincent van Gogh, were born from this city. That history has informed the design of the logo and has been combined with the flag and coat of arms escutcheon, both elements that encapsulate the cultural identity of the city.
