R: Hey, Eric. Is it cool if I ask you some questions?
E: Shoot it.
R: Obviously the first thing I want to know is how you’re feeling. Are you excited to be a part of the Bondi Beach Buccaneers?
E: Of course, man. It’s a dream come true. This is my first level of professional football and it’s nice to know some team wanted me.
R: There were reports during the draft that you were unhappy being picked so late and that it was a sort of “chip on your shoulder”. Do you have anything you want to say to the teams that passed on you?
E: Yeah, I was pretty fed up with waiting. I thought I did enough in college to show that I was worth a higher pick but I guess not. That’s the chip on my shoulder. I wanna prove everyone wrong in the pros and show that I’m capable of hanging with the big guys. Like I’ve said before, all the receivers who went before me are going to feel the burn when I’m on them.
R: There’s a powerful message in what you said and I’m all for it. Tell us how the pre-draft process was. Which teams reached out to you?
E: The first team that got in touch with me…Bondi Beach. Void reached out to me and called me in for an interview. At first, I was sort of iffy about playing in Australia with me being in America my whole life. Then I sort of warmed up to it. Then Norfolk talked to me and London and Tijuana. It was great.
R: How do you feel about your fellow Bondi Beach draftees? Are you acquainted with them or have you known any of them in the past?
E: I talked to a few of them and I think they’re cool. It’ll be fun to compete on the depth chart with Kade Carlton, James Sharkey, and Felix Halloway. I’m ready though.
