*Analysing TPE in season 2 - Kristy95 - 08-17-2017

First things first, this was done manually and it is VERY POSSIBLE THAT I MISCALCULATED OR MADE OTHER MISTAKES SOMEHOW. So please bare that in mind and don't crucify me. It is still valid and interesting to look at.

So I looked at every update thread of every player and calculated how much TPE was earned in season 2 alone. For that I used July 12th as the cutoff date, as that was the official announcement of season 2 begin. So I didn't count activity week 8, but did count week 9. The only thing technically from season 1 that I counted was the ultimus week PT.

Again please remember that errors will have occurred a lot but I have tried my best.

Analysis:

Well let's start with the most basic ranking for players:

Top Ten players by TPE earned this year:

1) M. Hendrix - 152 TPE
2) F. North - 146 TPE
2) D. Lavelle - 146 TPE
4) K. O'Sullivan - 145 TPE
5) D. Turner - 144 TPE
6) T. Oles - 143 TPE
7) A. Savea - 142 TPE
7) A. Winchester - 142 TPE
9) L. Noble - 141 TPE
9) CA CHess - 141 TPE

Now, I will repeat that mistakes are very possible. The 152 for Hendrix surprise me, as I think 146 seems close to the limit of whats even possible. It is possible I made a mistake there but I did it twice and couldn't find it.

Let's look at teams now:

Total TPE earned per team:

Arizona Outlaws - 2063 TPE
Yellowknife Wraiths - 1805 TPE
Baltimore Hawks - 1769 TPE
Colorado Yeti - 1734 TPE
Philadelphia Liberty - 1714 TPE
Orange County Otters - 1702 TPE
San Jose Sabercats - 1413 TPE
Las Vegas Legion - 1024 TPE

We can already see a HUGE discrepancy between teams here, one that is not shocking. Outlaws are outpacing everyone, while the Legion are horrifically far behind everyone else. They have less than half the TPE the Outlaws made this season. The Sabercats are also surprisingly far behind, while the rest of the teams are basically on one level.

Number of players:

Arizona Outlaws: 27
San Jose Sabercats: 24
Baltimore Hawks: 22
Orange County Otters: 22
Yellowknife Wraiths: 22
Colorado Yeti: 21
Philadelphia Liberty: 21
Las Vegas Legion: 18

As we can see, most teams hover around 21/22 but it also becomes obvious that players make a difference. The best team in TPE, the Outlaws has the most players and the Legion, the last team has the least amount of players.

TPE/Player:

Colorado Yeti: 82 TPE/player
Philadelphia Liberty: 82 TPE/player
Yellowknife Wraiths: 82 TPE/player
Baltimore Hawks: 80 TPE/player
Orange County Otters: 77 TPE/player
Arizona Outlaws: 76 TPE/player
San Jose Sabercats: 59 TPE/player
Las Vegas Legion: 57 TPE/player

As we can see again, Legion and Sabercats are still the worst, however surprisingly the Outlaws are not near the top here either, pointing to the large number of player they have influencing these results.

Active players (players above 50 TPE):

Baltimore Hawks: 16
Colorado Yeti: 16
Arizona Outlaws: 16
Orange County Otters: 15
Yellowknife Wraiths: 15
Philadelphia Liberty: 14
San Jose Sabercats: 12
Las Vegas Legion: 9

This immediately shows that all teams are basically on one level in terms of active players, except the Sabercats and Legion who are lagging behind quite noticeably and it explains their TPE totals.

Very active players (players above 100 TPE):

Orange County Otters: 11
Arizona Outlaws: 11
Yellowknife Wraiths: 9
Baltimore Hawks: 7
Philadelphia Liberty: 7
Colorado Yeti: 6
San Jose Sabercats: 5
Las Vegas Legion: 2

Another glaring example of why the Legion are so far behind, only 2 very active players in their ranks. Sabercats are next lowest with 5, once again proving why they are behind in TPE totals. Outlaws and Otters are in front with 11, which is definitely surprising in terms of the Otters, who were only in sixth place in TPE totals. They seem to have quite a few players barely over 100 but then immediately it drops off quite a bit.

Extremely active players (players over 125 TPE):

Arizona Outlaws: 6
Baltimore Hawks: 5
Philadelphia Liberty: 5
Yellowknife Wraiths: 5
Colorado Yeti: 4
Orange County Otters: 4
San Jose Sabercats: 3
Las Vegas Legion: 2

As we can see, Outlaws in first place again and they also have three more players between 120 and 125 TPE that just barely didn't make this cut. Legion and Sabercats are in last again.

*Analysing TPE in season 2 - kckolbe - 08-17-2017

Counting Ultimus Week, I have only missed 7 TPE (4 points of PTs, 3 points in bad predictions), yet I am 29 TPE behind the lead earner.

I think the issue there might be that Hendrix bought his S1 gear on the morning of the 12th, which allowed it to count for your tally. That's 20 TPE right there, and explains why he is higher than you thought possible (I bought mine on the 11th).

The ones that got my attention are Noble and Winchester, who led their team in TPE earnings without the extra 11 TPE that came from being a rookie. With NONE of their rookies that close to maxing, I guess you can see why those teams are dropping off compared to last year.

Ahhhh that might explain it. I usually paid very close attention not to count season 1 equipment even if it was bought that day. I wont change it anymore since the article is written but that's definitely why then. Good eye.

I really earned only 93 this season? I'm the second highest on the team and I didn't miss any PT opportunities. I should be around the area of the highest TPE gainer, Josh Garden. Why is there such a gap between us when I always been the second highest and he's always been around five to fifteen TPE ahead of my curve, so to speak. Lol

Same with me in terms of not missing a single PT opportunity. I also only have one piece of equipment yet to purchase. That's 8 TPE so I would be around 131 and not being a rookie getting that 11 TPE bonus. So if I had equipment and the rookie bonus I would be at 142 which I guess is about right considering you miss a TPE here or there if you don't predict perfectly. I also missed 2 TPE cuz I only did 4/5 ultimus week PTs.

Thanks. One other reason for disparity is that S2 started mid week. So some people did their training and activity checks in S1 and some in S2.

The rest I can chalk up to TPE being earned in S1 but not being claimed until S2.

Really interesting article. I'm going to be honest, I don't really read that many articles which analyze (Like the WR ones; I just skim them) but I read ALL of this. Really good work. Damn, I'm 30 behind Chess, that's a lot. Welp, if I want to keep the best LB, I gotta get that TPE!

Wow that is really high praise. Thank you very much! I really appreciate you saying that. And as I said in the article, very possible that I miscounted somehow. Others have commented about mistakes too, maybe you are closer Smile

Maybe... but I just really enjoyed having this visual representation of everyones' TPE amounts as compared to others. TPE is what drives our league and this could really motivate people to stop slacking and cash in on that TPE. Nice work dude!
