*Off Season Interview Series - Honolulu - Beck - 09-06-2021

(51% @"Gbeck765" | 49% @IceBear32) or 50/50 if it must be even lol.

Hey everyone welcome to the latest edition of the offseason interview series I am doing with many of my Honolulu team mates. Today. I have a special guest, the man who got me started in the isfl and someone who is now my teammate: the Ice bear David Frank. Welcome to the show Ice Bear! Ice bear you are one busy man this day in the ISFL universe. There are a trillion places I could start this interview. Let's go ahead and start with your rookie season as a player for the Honolulu Hahaulua. Share some of your thoughts with me on how the season went in your eyes

IceBear32 :
Thanks Beck! Glad to be here and think this is an awesome thing you’ve done with some of the younger players. I hope they all know how excited the rest of the team is to have them and how bright Honolulu’s future is. All that being said - this was a very interesting year for me on the field. I had some great success in the DSFL and def met my match in the ISFL. These O linemen are built a lot different in the big leagues. I had a bit of a learning curve with moving to DE from LB. So stats were nothing to write home about but I love the opportunity And game plans that HON has set me up with.(edited)

Gbeck765:
Yeah that is a heck of a position switch going from line backer to defensive lineman. As a friend of yours, I could not have been happier though. Generally I am hitting the buffets by myself, but you were able to join me to shut some of the local area buffets down as you bulked up to play on the line. As time progresses, do you see yourself being someone who gets after the quarterback, or someone who more so sets the edge and stuffs the run? Off the field you had an incredible year too. I do not know if there is a "user of the year" award, but I feel like if there is, you would definitely have to be in contention for it. You showed a ton of growth in the graphics department and I lost count on how many contests you won when it came to designing logos. How did the success you had in this area feel after all the work that you put into it?

IceBear32 :
This has been an interesting offseason to say the least. I absolutely love what the league is doing with the World Federation Cup. A lot of fun contest came from that and I was lucky enough to get some wins in there. Hopefully this isn’t a spoiler but I think for next season they will be doing some field design contest that I am very excited about! It’s been a lot of work with both GMing for Europe and learning the ropes there and some of the other off-season task. But it’s all worth it being able to meet more people across the league. Everyone has been absolutely great. And as for buffets. Watch out Honolulu, no one stands a chance to stay in business with us around.

Gbeck765:
I was going to wait until the end of our interview to begin talking about you being a general manager. But since you brought it up, I have to ask. How is that going for you? You have taken over the Minnesota Grey Ducks and also Team Europe all in the span of a few weeks of each other. That is some super exciting stuff. How do you feel about taking over managing the team you have won a championship and also what is your initial impression of team Europe? There was a lot of fan backlash in Euope when a certain fan favorite tight end did not make the team (meee) lol

IceBear32 :
My short span of GMing has been great. I’ll probably have a deeper dive article about Minnesota and my co-GM painted in the near future. As for my time in Europe - it’s been a really neat addition to the league. Europe is a very young team and I’m excited to see how things work out in the future. Most of all I’ve enjoyed meeting some new people. I do say things gotta a little tough this off-season with being spread a little to thin. But with my feet on the ground now I hope to help make this teams into something great / continue the greatness set up before. I did ask about a certain tight end getting on the roster as our water boy. That was declined and we were willing to risk our teams chances by putting them in. I did tho get you an autographed jersey with the GMs signatures. It should be arriving any day now.

Gbeck765:
Fans residing in the Honolulu area: be on the lookout at local Good Will stores for that jersey autographed by Ice Bear! That stinks that you got spread so thin with your new general manager duties, maybe that played a part in your lapse in judgement when it came to the tight end position. Moving forward, I am excited to see where your teams go under your leadership. The Grey Ducks are quack to quack champions and coming off a one loss season, where their only loss came against my Norfolk Seawolves. Since Norfolk was the ducks only loss last season, does that technically make the Seawolves the champions in your eyes? People are saying it does on Twitter so I thought that it was an important question to ask today. Also for the record, I do believe it does make the Seawolves Champs

IceBear32:
I’m truly excited for the people in Norfolk. Finally getting a duck in there with Negs might be just the thing to turn the organization around. And I get the thoughts of people saying Norfolk are champs cuz of that. When you don’t have real championships to hold onto you have to grasp for something. I do have to say we have gotten a handful of players from Norfolk in Honolulu so I have made piece with that and enjoy them as teammates and now one as a GM!

Gbeck765:
You heard it hear first folks. New general manager of the Grey ducks acknowledges the Seawolves as true champions of season 30! Taking things in another direction, you have become famous for the media you put out, specifically the fan experience articles with Fronk along with your Ultimus bids. After successfully winning the Ultimus location bid last season, are the two of you planning on putting in a new bid this season, and if so, are there any hints you want to give us on where you may be thinking?

IceBear32 :
SMH. We have rings to prove it baby. Outside of the people in this league the media I’ve gotten to create with Fronk has been one of my favorite parts. We were super proud and happy to learn that we won the S30 ultimus bid. Unfortunately, the UFE has taken some time off to allow me to get my feet on the ground in MIN. We do have some exciting things coming up but we will not be submitting for a S31 bid. I’m very excited to see what some of the others come up with! I’m personally hoping for a Vegas bid. The Minny LR just got a casino bot and I’ve been practicing. Plus who needs sleep and no better place to embrace this. #VegasS31 baby! Plus that won’t be a bad commute for us when we’re playing in it next season.

Gbeck765:
Vegas sounds like it would be a really fun place. I am also excited to see what some of the bids will be this season. I love how creative people can be on here. You have some big shoes to fill in Minnesota. That fan base is now used to winning so we will all be watching closely to see how the results turn out for you next season and beyond. Do you have any advice for users who are looking into getting into league jobs or maybe just looking to stay busy and find a niche like you have with field and logo designs?

Also, we all have missed the Ultimate Fan Experience articles from you and Fronk. I know I am not the only one that is looking forward to seeing them return in the near future. I just saw your rebrand of the field and logo for Minnesota. You also redesigned our field in Honolulu this past season. Now that our rookie season has passed, how are you feeling about our upcoming season and what are some predictions that you have for our team?

IceBear32 :
I’d say the biggest thing is asking questions and finding out something you enjoy and getting that niche for you in the league. I personally love the locker room aspect and thought there’s no better way to be involved then as a GM. The rebrand has been an absolutely blast! I’ve loved being able to make my mark in HON with the field. It was sort of a design by committee but I love how it turned out and think it reflects our locker room perfectly. I am sooo hyped about Season 31. I think HON exceed expectations last seasons and I hope we follow that trend. I think we are a couple pieces away from being a great team. And I think this draft and some off-season moves got us closer to what we need. With such a young team I think it’s all uphill if we can keep everyone together. And I do think the addition of Flex as GM will help with some possible FA landings in the future. Things are looking bright in HON!

Gbeck765:
Well thank you so much for your time Ice Bear. It has been a good time catching up with you on here. As many new roles that you are in I almost feel like I am friends with a celebrity or some kind of big wig. Do you have any final thoughts that you would like to share before we sign off of this interview?

IceBear32:
I know we have a long day and you've been great getting these interviews out. I'd love to have a similar conversation with you soon and unpack all the great things youre doing for the league. I'll have my people call your people! Take care and go Hahaluas!

Gbeck765:

Yes, I look forward to doing this again in the future. I am glad we were able to catch up on here, you have not returned any of my text messages since you became general manager over Europe. I also noticed that on Facebook you have removed your first name and in its place it now says king. I am sure that was just a coincidence / accident on your end. I am just glad you are someone who does not let success get to their head. Thanks again for your time tonight! I am excited to continue following your journey. #RideTheWave
