Retirement - iStegosauruz - 09-18-2021

One of the hardest things to do in life is to let go. Complacency is something that sets in even when we don't think it has. Doing what you've always done fails to open up avenues for you to learn and grow and promotes stagnation in the activities you participate in.

Today is my one year anniversary in Head Office. Its been an incredible year, one that I've been privileged to have experienced and will never forget. I've been blessed to have worked on numerous incredible projects, shaped the league, and establish precedent that will guide it into the future. I haven't always been the easiest individual to deal with - I'm gruff and I recognize that - but I was proud to represent each and every member of this league for a year and am proud that I always tried to do what was right and never compromised my values, even in the face of adversity.

In light of one of the strongest intern application groups - and subsequently one of the strongest classes - that I've seen in my time in Head Office, combined with reaching the incredible achievement of one year, I think its time to find a new challenge. I still believe I have plenty to give the league, but its time for a new generation of leaders to shape the direction of the league and have the same valuable experience that I had.

The league still has plenty of work to do. There are still areas where we don't have proper jurisdictional guidelines. There are still places where the rules contradict. There are still grey areas that are used to enforce double standards depending on the whims of the times. Those are challenges we still need to make progress towards fixing, but they are not my battle.

Thanks to @bex for originally having faith in me and giving me the opportunity. I truly served at the pleasure of the commissioner, but the privilege was all mine. Thanks to the league as a whole for being a welcoming community. It has been an honor, one thats helped me learn and grow, one thats kept me entertained during some of the roughest periods of my life, and one that I'll truly treasure.

Effective immediately, I'll be retiring from Head Office.

You've made a tremendous impact on me both as a person and as a leader, and on the league as a whole. We're better for you having been a part of HO.

Missed opportunities to say “Dinosaur went Extinct”

In all seriousness I know how seriously you took this role and I am happy to have gotten to spend a lot of time with you over my time in the league

Head Office is going to miss having you around, man. I hope you take pride in the work you've done.
