*Announcing the Season 31 WFC Southwest United States Roster Additions - Alcott - 10-31-2021

What, you thought the Southwest United States team would be completely assembled just from the players geographically assigned at birth to the region? HA. There is in fact a loaner draft specifically to steal the players of other regions that were foolish enough to let these gems go by the wayside, and as Federation Head for the SWUS team I took full advantage. Without further adieu let me grant a warm, southern welcome to the newest members of Season 31’s World Football Championship Southwest United States team.

Defensive End
David Frank - @IceBear32
For starters Frank was an easy choice to add to the team considering it was only rostering one true defensive end to start with, and he was the highest TPE player at that position available in the loaner draft. I’m not sure how familiar you are with the sport of football, but generally there are two defensive ends on the field pretty much at all times, so rostering only one was not putting the team in the best position to succeed. But in marches Frank, now the TPE leader for the position on the team with an impressive 831, to shore up the defensive line in base packages. With a season of experience in the WFC, Frank can build on his Season 30 statline while playing for the APAC team, where he racked up 25 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 1 fumble recovery, and 8 sacks. As mentioned in the first roster media article, sacks were hard to come by for the SWUS in Season 30, so Frank’s ability to get after the quarterback will be very valuable. The second, and less known reason for the addition, is that IceBear was actually the Europe Head last season when Cole Maxwell was selected in the loaner draft. Not that this is a tit for tat situation, it’s just kind of neat how things come full circle like that sometimes.

Safety
Romulus Roman - @Amulos
While the SWUS team did have two safeties rostered, it was impossible to pass on the opportunity to add another great one to the mix and strengthen the defensive backfield even more, especially with some of the top tier quarterbacks that the team will be facing in the tournament. In the original media article announcing the team, Chathack’rius Smith IV was set to rise from his backup and special teams ace position from the previous season, but will unfortunately be relegated back to that role with the emergence of Roman on the team. Coming in with a TPE of 865, Roman’s experience is just too valuable to leave on the bench, or worse on another team’s roster. Roman will hope to build on a strong Season 30 performance also playing for team APAC, where he lead strong safeties in every statistic that he recorded a metric in, including tackles with 60, tackles for loss with 2, forced fumbles with 4, fumbles recovered with 3, sacks with 6, and passes defensed with 9. That level of playmaking all over the field can help elevate the defense to new levels and hopefully shut opposing offenses down all season.

Running Back
Drip Dad - @"CommishDrip"
Again I found myself looking at an extremely talented player at a position that had literally no depth on the team. Dad comes in to support fellow backfield member Jackson as a receiving specialist and goal line back, having more pop in his step. With 843 TPE, Dad can serve as a high end number 2 that most team’s would be jealous to have as a lead back. While a newcomer to the WFC, Dad came off his first season as the feature back for the Colorado Yeti, where he totaled 798 rushing yards at a rate of 4.4 yards per carry with 7 rushing touchdowns, in addition to collecting the second most receptions for a running back that season with 84, accumulating 749 additional yards and 5 more touchdowns through the air. The backfield combination of Jackson and Dad will allow for more dynamic formations featuring both players, and force the defenses into disadvantageous matchups. Also everyone needs a breather occasionally and having a reserve player that is more than capable of handling the lead back role is a true blessing to have.

So that does it, there will officially be no more announcements for further player additions to the Season 31 roster for the Southwest United States team. Congratulations on those new members joining the team and best of luck to all of you individually and as a collective on the team. Now let’s go win ourselves a championship
