The first thing I tell him is that he cannot get into prestigious colleges with low grades. Scholarships are given on athletic merit, but you need a certain SAT score to make it, based on your GPA. The higher the GPA, the lower the score on the SAT should be. Meaning he needs to bust his ass and get his grades up. Also, he will have to understand the playbook. If you cannot memorise multiplication tables, how are you going to memorize the playbook? If you cannot write a damn essay, how are you going to answer a journalist's question without looking and sounding like an idiot? So sit the freak down, and get to studying. You need to have graduated high-school for at least three years to play in the pros. You gotta do something those years, to stay in game shape. And that is college. And guess what kid. You are a student-athlete. Student first, athlete second. STUDENT. FIRST.

Blaze: "Hey buddy I want to talk to you about something"
  Younger Relative: "What is it?"
Blaze: "I know how your grades have been slipping and you know how adamant our family is about having the best grades in the class"
Younger Relative: "Well I just want to be like you. You're a player in my favorite sport on my favorite team. That's my dream job"
Blaze: "Oh, is that so? Well if you want to be me you got to start with the basics. You can't let your grades slip and rely on athletics to carry you through life. Grades are how people get ahead in life and continue moving on to bigger and better things. I only got to the place I am now because of hard work and persistence in life. You have to focus on all things in life to get better not just the things you want to do and are easy."
Younger Relative: "Ok I understand. Thank you."

Recently, Albert Ruschmann's nephew Malbert approached him asking for advice on how he could play in the ISFL. While Albert did not want to discourage his nephew, he did want to be realistic with him. He sat him down in his living room and started, "Malbert, I was very lucky to be able to play in the ISFL." Malbert leaned in closer as he knew his uncle was being genuine and wanted to help. "If you really want to make it to the ISFL, you have to be a max earner." Malbert looked confused, but Albert continued. "You need to make sure you don't miss any activity checks, weekly trainings, always buy equipment when you can. The more TPE, the better." Malbert didn't say anything for a while until looking back up at his uncle and asking "What is TPE?". Albert replied "Don't worry, you will learn in time my dude." Then Albert and Malbert went out for ice cream.

The game of American Football has never been very popular in my home country, well that was until there was a little group of family members and friends watching my games! Then it was my neighborhood, followed by my town, now a large group of Kiwis support me every week! And they watch the big Ultimus and Ultimini games as well, which is great to see! However, my young cousin is hellbent on becoming a football player like me, I go back home during the offseason to help train him, but I can't be there all year, so when my brother told me he was slacking off to watch football and "train himself" I spent the last offseason not just training him in football but also in his studies! After all, I graduated with a teaching degree, It was great to not just see him grow in physical athletics but mental athletics as well! He's getting straight A's and who knows... when I retire there might be another Small to take my place in a few seasons!
