Few things get Christian Marciano as heated as thinking about times that officiating impacted his performance on the field. Every player has seen bad calls, but they all have one that always sticks in their memory, and for Christian the most impactful bad call for him was also the first he saw.

Way back as a 6th grade playing Pony League football, Christian was having another amazing game as he was the highest-ranked 6th grader in his class. It was the fourth quarter of the ninth game of the season, and his Summit Hill Stampede were beating the Ford Parkways Flames by a score of 72-0. Marciano was having a pretty standard game - 21/21, 593 yards, 6 touchdowns / 14 carries, 201 yards, 4 touchdowns / 12 tackles, 9 sacks, 2 interceptions. Now, keep in mind, Christian Marciano is the greatest player in the history of all sports, so stat lines like that are common.

Here it was, fourth and goal, no time on the clock, and his team has the ball on the three yard line. Marciano steps back and finds his receiver open in the back of the end zone. He delivers a perfect throw, but before it makes its way to its target the receiver is taken to the ground by an early hit. To everyone in the stands this was a clear pass interference call, but the referee refused to call it. Christian couldn't believe it. To this point in the season he had never thrown an incomplete pass, and he couldn't believe that the first time it happened was because a referee blew a blatant call.

Code:
Written option: Penalties are a part of the game, but the refs don’t always get it right. Write about a time the refs made a bad call, did it influence the outcome of the game? How did your Team or Player respond?

There was one case of bad refereeing that to this still haunts Davriel's mind. It was back in his college days and it was the last game of the season. A game as important as they come. A win and Davriel's team goes to the national championship. A lose and they have to take enough with a bowl game. The score is 24 to 25 with Lavigne's team leading and the game is in it's winding seconds. The opposing team has the ball and is too far away to make a comfortable field goal.

Lavigne is defending one one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the league and that is exactly who the opponent QB targets. It is scrappy, but Lavigne is able to prevent that wr from catching the ball. However flags are thrown on the field and pass interference is called.

An absolute shite call by the refs which gives the opponent team the yards to set up for a field goal and barely make it. The score ends up being 27-25 and Lavigne and his team are off to the bowl game instead of the championship.

Man do we have some penalties. In fact, the worst ones have been in the past few weeks. Ryan Negs is not known to be much of a run threat, but in the last couple games he has tried to buck that trend and make some big runs. He tends to make some plays in the red zone, but the officials seem set on holding the guy back. In the last 3 runs I have had over 5 yards, there has been a holding call. Now I am not saying that this should be investigated by the league, but this should absolutely be investigated by the league. It is not coincidence that Negs keeps getting held back on big plays. The league is trying to hold Ryan Negs down and he is not going to stand for it. He has made an official complain to the league office to eliminate the holding penalty forever. That should do the trick!
